I always wondered how these men were just doing as they were told and having children with the Bene Gesserit like are they just scared or simply mesmerized by the women's power when they meet but this makes so much sense now! I seriously need to read the Dune books.
Finally someone is talking about the Imprinters!!! I was so excited to see this in the series. I love the books and one of my favorite parts are the imprinters, all parts of Lucille in Heretics are so amazing, she is great and does everything right but still failed and can’t seduce her target and is hilarious!! I’m so happy to see a video about! I love it!
Hey everyone! I'm a little overwhelmed by all the support and the number of comments, as my other episode reviews for Dune: Prophecy didn't get nearly as much attention. I would like to know if you have any other questions about the Bene Gesserit? I'd love to include them in my next video. I want to thank you again for all the lovely comments! Your support really means a lot to me
I'm thinking there's another catagory of Bene Gesserit; the breeding mothers. I think a great many are paired up with desirable males as concubines or even one night stands ( example of one needed for Baron Harkonnen to father Jessica and for Feyd Rautha who cooperated easily. An effective technique since the BG can conceive at will so long affairs and imprinting aren't necessary, a wate of time. I don't remember imprinters being introduced in the Frank Herbert books until near the end of the series, notably for Duncan Idaho when Miles Teg was training the latest in a series of Duncan Idaho gholas. So I'm actually thinking that this early in the Sisterhoods development breeding mothers were most probably being used but imprinters were either very rare or not developed yet in canon. For sure the series underplays all the many various roles BG play in actuality that aren't really discussed in this new series yet. If I had to guess, Jessica was trained as a breeding mother rather than as an imprinter, and an imprinter may be a form of highly trained breeding mother. I think Jessica could have been trained as one if they were deveveloped by her time but I don't think The Duke required one, he was aleady looking for a concubine. Plus all sisters weren't trained as truthsayers, there were so many jobs for mothers and sisters outside their homeworld, like evangelizers. That would be the task of sisters sent out to spread rumors, prophecies, and religions on far away worlds just in case a sister becomes abandoned or trapped on an unfriendly world as Jessica was on Arrakis. Fran Herbert made it clear that Arrakis wasn't special in that way, rather just one of many worlds softened up in advance for lost sisters if needed. Very prudent planning! Thank you for going into this topic of the many jobs and uses for sisters in the imperium, it is one of the many aspects of the Sisterhood left out of this new series.
Jessica did mention it early on in the first book that she could have done it to Leto, but she never attempted out of love and loyalty. My understanding is that all Bene Genserit skills are related to what talent the individual has and not everybody can be trained for everything, we just happen to see the most skilled ones through the story because they are the most relevant.
IIRC in Dune (not Kevin Herbert's), Jessica was not explicitly stated as an imprinter, but I wonder if she's one also, or has the ability to imprint others. I mean, she and Margot seem to both have similar 'mission,' while Margot went and 'imprint' on Feyd as well as reserve the gene (by getting pregnant), I was wondering if one of Jessica's missions was to imprint Duke Leto and gain a daughter (of course she totally disregarded/disobeyed this order as we all know, with Paul lol). But it's just that Jessica chose to not imprint Leto or chose to not use the 'power' on him to exert her influence on him because she loved Leto.
I think this may have been implied during Dune part 1 where she and Leto were arguing about her loyalties. To get him to change the subject she put her hand on his chest just like Sister Francesca did with Javicco. I just finished binge watching the movies and this popped up on my feed. I see what you are up to RUclips!
It is not explicitly stated that Jessica was also an imprinter. However, we can be certain that she was also trained in the arts of seduction, as the Bene Gesserit had a keen interest in keeping the Lords and Dukes close to their Bene Gesserit concubines.
@@junaesque 100% all Bene Gesserit Concubines are imprinters. But I am 100% sure that the open secret is that everyone knows that the sisterhood can choose the biological sex of their children.
@@junaesque i'm going to push back and say it was explicitly stated that she NEVER once used her powers on duke leto- and she didn't use any of her powers on him ever for fear that he would think she manipulated him into anything. i think jessica n duke leto were genuinely in love and that's why she disregarded the bene gesserit's wishes for paul to be a girl because duke leto wanted a boy
I'm so glad someone talked about this, the sisterhood really gained a large foothold of power back when Francesca secured the fleet.

They're not scared but manipulated by the witches.
I can’t believe this account doesn’t have more subs. That was a really well done video. New subscriber here 🙌🏽

It's good that you spoiled the third movie for me with just one photo and a couple of words 😂
Appreciate this!
Was Paul’s mother Jessica an “imprinter”?
