Reminds me slightly of an issue we had when we moved into our current place that was a fair bit deadlier. Double light switch, 1 switch wired to kitchen light on the downstairs lighting circuit. All good. Other switch? Straight wired off the adjacent mains circuit for the thermostat control to control a floodlight out the back door. Turned the light circuit off, other switch still very much live. Almost had to have the entire place rewired after finding that.
A fun one! I know it's unusual and a pain but BS7671 actually permits a CPC to be shared my more than one circuit as long as it's sized correctly. See reg 543.1.2. Obviously it's irritating and not what anyone expects to find, but there was an era when people used to 'fix' pre-1966 lighting circuits with no earth by running a 4mm single earth from another circuit.
That's how the light was wired in my Grans garage, earth to the socket in the garage, at least it had an earth and with no RCD no issues with any RCD not tripping.
shoulda asked the lease company how much they want for the van as a mates interested,If the price is right your mate buys the van,and once they've got the v5 they flog it to you.
Im guessing you informed the client about the lights having their CPC coming off the immersion. I would not be able to leave that job until it was corrected.
It’s a rented place I’m working for the renter the landlord got her own electrician in 6 months ago to do a full board swap and test!!! It’s up to the landlord
@@Cjrelectricalwas there a fault on the lighting circuit causing the CPC to carry current? I can understand why the rcd on the consumer unit didn't trip but struggling to understand the fundamental cause?

Nice video as always you did right with the van prices going through the roof now , hopefully you will pick up one soon at a reasonable price 😊

Clearly the work of an older electrician who knows better than everyone else. Good enough in my day etc.
Haha
Good luck on getting the van you wan't, all the best
Would earth leakage detection ,, eg an RCD not pickup on current going , somewhere , / see an imbalance ,, and activate the trip ?
He installed a cheap split load board and put them both on the same side.
How much to just buy the van as it was so good to you?
No option to buy back

I lease through Vanarama through Arval if I’m honest Vanarama pissed me off so I’m just glad to get rid.
I might be interested in the wall chaser if you get rid. I'll have to keep an eye on where you are advertising it
Sold it mate on instagram instantly

@Cjrelectrical fair enough mate, we can only advise.....
110V leakage must have been a sparkie from the good old USA - Yeeeeeeeh Hiiiiigh Bubbah
I wait to see how much the leasing company actually charge you when you return it. I have heard many people get surprises.
This is why you should always prove dead, ideally with a GS38 2-pole voltage tester and proving unit.
We did prove dead only became apparent when I disconnected the earth and it’s looking for an earth path through me.

@llmikeyj1 earth leakage from led lighting etc

No, CJR was first, it's his video! 😂
