Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we usually take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time, however, we test a , which is a smaller version of the good old Vauxhall Corsa D and E.
Be prepared for a strange boot badge, surprisingly good performance, a nice clean design, strange equipment choices and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

I am on my second Adam .There are very stylish and sort of exclusive .If you don't want to follow the crowd and buy a Fiat 500.They are better built, feeling solid As you alluded, the car feeling bigger than it really is .I also have F500 ,so can make a direct comparison. Most people will not know what an Adam is.I personally like them .I also have a Ford fiesta 1.6 Ghia and Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9. Ido have a soft spot for the Adam. Glad you seem to like it.

Would that 205 happen to be Miami Blue, by any chance? Yes, I drove one of these in 2017, but much preferred this one for some reason, despite not being particularly powerful. I have a review of a 500 1.2 Lounge on Sensible Secondhand Reviews, actually. The Fiesta Ghia and the 205 GTi sound very interesting. Thank you for watching!

Yes ,the 205 GTi is Miami Blue.It has featured twice during your interesting walkabouts at Goodwood retro rides 2021 and 2022. Thank you for the informative videos.

Well, I am already booked in for the Retro Rides Weekender this year too! If you ever wish to have any of your cars featured on the channel, just send me an e-mail, the address would have been shown on screen early on during the video.

    A very inoffensive little Vauxhall.
Well built, nicely equipped and comfortable and compliant.
Probably the 1.4 is the one to buy but a 1.2 would be absolutely fine.

Yes, the 1.4 would be better, although the 1.2 was better than I expected. Thank you, sir!

Grand slam was such a great name. It's sad they changed it. I can't help but wonder if the change has anything to do with Opel finding out about Barnes Wallis's Grand slam bomb.

Not really sure, sir. The marketing of the Adam is a bit strange. I find this more appealing than an F56 Mini for some reason (I drove one of those on the same day).

I think it was meant to be Vauxhalls version of the Ford KA , not anywhere near as successful.

It sort of hit the market at quite a good time for these smaller cars, but ten years later that market has almost but disappeared!

I think it is a good car but then I would as I have always rallied Vauxhalls and managed to win 2 rally championships with a 1300 Chevette and a Viva ,luck springs to mind, not skill.I bought for my wife as a surprise present for our 40,th wedding anniversary an Adam S grey with a red roof as shown in the brochure at that time, not something I'm usually prone to doing , I remember it was a difficult job and a lot of effort to get Vauxhall to release it some story about it wasn't allowed to be released until a certain date that coincided with the launch of the Adam R rally car, see on RUclips Adam R testing, that is more or less how it goes driven hard, there is likely only one place you are going if you get it wrong and that is A&E. Quicker than both my rally cars and does over 40 mpg. Comfortable in the front with AGR seats but not to much room in the back, just enough space for a slim magazine .Was she pleased with it ,Yes as our name is Adams.

Fantastic story! I am surprised the Vauxhall dealership did not do more to help you in terms of ordering your Adam S. We have done a few of the older Vauxhalls recently, such as a 1972 Viva and a 1981 Chevette HSR, but we also like the newer ones. The rear space and the boot are very small, but I prefer these to an F56 Mini for some reason.

I bought the 1.0 turbo cylinder model, with 113 hp, with a six speed gearbox. It's just a great little car, with a fair bit of shove to it and the extra gear makes it pretty long legged. Thanks for the video.

That sounds like a bit of a contrast from this 1.2, but, to be honest, it still was not that bad. Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!

Perhaps one of Vauxhall/Opel's better looking cars from their late General Motors period.
Given the lack of profit margin on small cars I can understand why there wasn't a replacement in the current Stellantis era.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад +1

Yes, I think that these look rather good in hindsight. I would much rather than one of these than a Mini, but that is probably not much of a surprise....

Excellent little review Sir, I managed to have a look at one while I was at the Motorist on Saturday, which had been tuned up a bit.

Thank you, Mr Watters! I am glad you enjoyed the video. This one was completely on the opposite spectrum of the one which you saw, I think, but it was nevertheless quite enjoyable.
