      Storage capacity has nothing to do with the less quality visuals of this ports. Most of EA games on GCN were quickports, specially the NFS ones, which looked worst than even PS2 versions. And also, Mini DVD allowed GCN to have quicker load times and the starage capability difference on GCN format (1.5 GB) vs regular DVD (up to 4,7 GB) wasn´t that big than the gap between n64 cartridge (up to 64 MB, but normally even less than 16 MB) vs CD ROM (Up 700 MB)...And finally, most multiplattform games from that era on PS2 and Xbox normally didnt used whole DVD storage (normally didnt surpassed 2 GB).

    • @WWammyy
      @WWammyy 7 месяцев назад

      @@carloscuello8814 Storage has everything to do with less visual quality of ports even the PS2 version of need for speed carbon sits at 3.61gb decompressed.
      The higher storage you have the better quality textures you can store its very simple

    • @iwanttocomplain
      @iwanttocomplain 7 месяцев назад

      @@carloscuello8814 That's good research. The Yamaha-developed Gigabyte disc (GD-ROM) holds 1.2GB of data on a standard cd-rom by making the pits more dense, slowing down the disc speed by about half but still reading at the same rate and doubling the capacity. So standard (cheap) cd-rom components are used in the super noisy drive. That's saving's for the customer in a generation of all DVD consoles, it's still 20% less data than the GCN discs.
      But people weren't buying consoles because they wanted a DVD player. The games didn't need 4.5GB either. The 1GB DC games were all fit into 700MB standard cd's by cracking groups by lowering the quality of fmv's, textures and sound.
      With the exception of Shenmue 2, which is frankly hobbled by the GD-ROM format.

    • @iwanttocomplain
      @iwanttocomplain 7 месяцев назад

      @@carloscuello8814 Yes storage capacity is overstated and the importance of the DVD in the 6th generation. The Dreamcast GD-ROM holds 1.4GB of data by halving the speed of the disc whilst reading at the speed to double the capacity. Sega could have used double sided cd's which are still cheaper than dvd's to acheive 2.4GB.
      Without fmv's, these games generally fit into 700MB.

    Wii is more powerful than Gamecube, but all NFS games on gamecube were quickports poorly optmized. GCN could had handled visuals on Wii version level...And Wii version itself could have looked a little bit better. EA could had taken more advantage of a console capable of doing games like Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Metroid Prime and RE 4.

    I played both versions and I would make a list of differences I've notice
    1: The Wii has higher resolution textures obviously (but also a gritty texture on top of surfaces giving the textures a lot more detail)
    2: The Wii version is darker compared to the GameCube version
    3: The Wii version has the rain effect with the road reflections unlike the GameCube version
    4: The car reflections in the GameCube version are misaligned from the world on the Far camera which is weird unlike the Wii version (You can see this in the video)
    5: the mirror in the GameCube version sucks, you can't even see the cars because it's super pixelated unlike the Wii version.
    6: The Wii has a trail effect which you can see on the street lamps unlike the GameCube
    7: The camera on the Wii version is more "stiff" and it doesn't want to show you the side of the car no matter how hard you turn (probably why the car handling looks more sensitive) unlike the GameCube, but the camera in the GameCube is slightly farther away unlike all other versions.
    8: The Wii version blurs out when the game pauses.
    9: The Wii version has the canyon introduction cutscenes unlike the GameCube version.
    10: The Wii version has traffic in pursuits (sometimes they disappear for a while for some reason) unlike the GameCube version, but the Wii version doesn't have traffic in races or check points which is weird as the Wii version can run fine in a race & pursuit unlike the GameCube which lags heavily
    11: Despite the GameCube controller having way more buttons than the Wii remote, for some reason you cannot look behind despite the fact that the down d-pad could had been used to look behind, and yet you can look behind in the Wii version by holding B + right d-pad
    12: The ai car headlamps are more visible in the GameCube version unlike the Wii version meaning that you can see the opponents or police headlights behind you without looking back.
    13: The Wii version has an "oversteer" button (hold A) which "increases your steering input" which means it makes your handling more sensitive, so it's pretty much speed breaker without the slow motion which is helpful for canyons as you can't use the speed breaker effect just in case you loose control of your car.
    14: The Wii steering controls aren't bad, you are. (The GameCube controls are better for drifting though because of the analog triggers for accelerating)

      It was more powerful but not “much” more powerful. Besides PS2 was more powerful in other ways than the GameCube. Sure the GameCube had a more powerful GPU/CPU. But PS2 had more RAM and SIGNIFICANTLY!!! higher memory bandwidth (even compared to the Xbox) there is a reason why screen effects often looked best on PS2 compared to every single other platform (even PC)
      Just look at the Fog in Silent Hill 2 or the Rain in MGS2, PS2 destroyed the Xbox in both games.

      @@Ioannis.Stf.1996 Actually, No.
      The PS2 was very weak compared to other consoles of its generation.
      Its CPU ran at just 294 MHz (which wasn't that different from the Dreamcast which ran at 200 MHz) while the Game Cube ran at 485 MHz, not to mention that the Game Cube even had a better GPU, higher bandwidth, more support for shaders, higher GFlops etc... and no it didn't have more RAM, the Game Cube had a 24 MB 1T-SRAM along with 16 MB of DRAM and 3 MB of VRAM while the PS2 had only while the PS2 had 32 MB of RDRAM and 4 MB of VRAM eDRAM.
      The PS2 literally lost to the Game Cube (and Xbox) in every hardware aspect, it even lost to the Dreamcast at some points. (the Dreamcast had twice the VRAM and a better resolution quality on most games in addition to VGA support)
      By the way, Need for Speed: Carbon runs at 480p on all platforms with the exception of the PS2 which only runs at 480i.

    We have entered the Need For Speed Cinematic Universe. A lot to unpack here.
    1. 3:06 I prefer the Gamecube's controll layout with the R Trigger as the Accelerator and B Button as Handbrake. I do like that you put up the incompatibility message for the Wii. Motion controls with the Wii was novel especially controlling acceleration with the Wii-mote.
    2. I feel this game has a lot to offer. At the same time feels really unfocused and unpolished. They should of just stuck with the choose a territory and race mechanic as the whole game instead of sprinkling all the other mechanics about.
    3. Alfa Romero as starting brand. Never thought I would see Alfa Romero in a Need for Speed Game. I guess they couldn't have Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Pagani as starting car because that would be too obvious.
    4. T-Mobile and Auto Zone among others is one way to promote brand awareness. Worth the rights fees is subject to debate.

    Wii has better car model, better textures, punchier look with additional contrast and color saturation. Look at @19:24, looking at the signs on top, smoother gradients on the signs, and sharper textures on the road. Car model is more detailed, and background appears to denser geometry looking at the domes to the top left. Looking at @6:43, license plate is clearer, trees on the left you can see more distinct branches and leaf's. If I had to guess, the Wii is running at 852X480 while the GC is running 640X480. This makes sense seeing the additional clarity in combination with higher res textures. @7:37, might be the best example of higher res textures being used. The truck on the GC is almost completely blurred, N64 quality. A few seconds later @7:40 you can see the higher screen resolution and textures of the Wii version outclassing the blurry N60 GameCube version.

    • @hababacon
      @hababacon 7 месяцев назад

      @jhkuno88 They're not the same, Wii model looks s tad fuller. Also the windows appear to be different shading. 16bit produces dithering artifacts, rainbow effects. Low color depth and heavily compressed textures produces blocky and blurry texture appearance. The Wii has better textures than the Xbox version, so I think it's a combination of the Wii having higher textures, and the GC having low res textures. The GC textures looks like the PS2 version when you watch other YTs comparisons. Anamorphic wide screen resolution is 720X480 making it higher res than 640X480. Anamorphic is 3:2 aspect ratio at 720X480 which is a form of wide-screen that can stretch with much distortion. In turns of 852X480, I've seen several videos where Wii games were pixel counted at 852X480. I thought the Wii was 720X480 or 640X480 only until a few years ago.

      Na verdade o Wii tem sim compatibilidade com controle tradicional.. o Wii classic controller e o NFS undercover é compatível. E muitos outros games também.. Esse NFS carbon não é compatível e realmente tem um esquema de controle muito ruim.

      @lipe5002 7 месяцев назад

      @@TheFred128 sim sim, com relação a compatibilidade quis dizer só o NFS Carbon mesmo, tô ligado que tem vários jogos que tem compatibilidade com o Clássic controller (que apesar de parecer não ser um dos mais confortáveis controles com certeza dá de 10 a 0 no controle tradicional) e com o controle de Game Cube para contornar o controle porco quando as desenvolvedoras não sabiam usar o controle padrão do Wii.

      @@lipe5002 O Wii clássic controller pro é muito bom e confortável usa um padrão top. A versão pro é bem ergonômica. A versão normal só acho legal pra jogo de luta, a pro é melhor pra games de tiro,corrida etc

      @@TheFred128 Realmente, o Wii classic controller pro parece ser bem confortável até, mas duvido que muita gente tinha esses controles mais tops, provavelmente a galera ficava com o Nunchuck e o Wii controller mesmo.

    Nintendo Wii é como si fosse um Game cube pro, tem mais frequência na cpu, gpu melhor, tem uma diferença bem ok, como da esquerda esta no médio, da direita esta no alto, tipo isso.

    What bothers me is they never fixed the cars in the pre rendered scenes in every post port...

    I would have loved the shader personality that the GameCube version has. Wii version looks generic AF.

      Nintendont isn't for Wii games, it runs Gamecube games on a Wii. But it does let you use Wii controllers for Gamecube games similar to the Wii version here.
