How do you think this test went?
If you wanna see more modded guitars check out @simonthemagpie this idea reminded me of something he would do ha
Well, it "works".
Thank you for the fun video! This feels like a Simon the Magpie video. He has been silent lately so I have been waiting for madness like this. With the spinning speaker I recommend making to be played as a lapsteel style guitar.
shoulda done it like this, shoulda done it like that!
Is that your contribution to the Great Guitar Build Off? :-)
In the spirit of the Electro Magnetic Sonic Sequencer Thingy.... perhaps mics placed around the outer edge of the spinning funnel so as it spins each mic records something like a doppler shift of the strings being played...
You could avoid all the problems with having to lean over the top of the spinning baffle by making the baffle stay stationary and spinning the guitar (and yourself) instead.
I was envisioning the exact same thing. The player rapidly spinning creating the exciting and dynamic sound/scream.
hahahahahahah That thing will start working for Uber if you let it go.
The equivalent of telling Tommy Lee to hold your beer.
@@mccards rofl
@@lubricustheslippery5028 but it only is usable for short gigs as after time the screaming has a tendency to fade into barfing from all the spinning...
I feel like one of those would do grand as an upright bass

wobbles
@@xoxollin ja
@@vectorjoe Totally did not expect Piccard there lol. Also, that sounds real similar to an electric harpejji with a chorus pedal

"Don't be scared to try it!"
*remembers the duct-taped mains wiring*
"...Maybe don't try this one.":P
This guy is like the mad scientist of music tech. I love it
I think you had a like to many sneaking it's way into your sentence.
I see the beginning of a new series here: “impractical guitars”.
It must be proper! Turn it into a tabletop slide guitar.
Is a really good idea!
Hope he sees this. Love this idea
This is the best idea for the speaker I've seen so far
Then send it to Dan Dubuque
ruclips.net/video/29C7MHmLZ9U/видео.html
now imagine dropping your pick in there...
The good thing is, it won't start rattling in the guitar body. You just have to find in which corner of there room this contraption did fling it.
🤣🤣
Who needs guitar effect when whole guitar is guitar effect!
"I'm a plonker, I put it on the wrong side!"-Me, every time assembling anything.
@@Moose0niner UK slang for a silly / foolish / stupid person.
Because of how bulky it is one of those could work in something like an Upright bass so you can stand next to it instead of being bashed in the chest
This instrument might work better in a "lap steel" format to solve the action and rigidity issues. I know I'm tempted to build one now...
Had the same idea.
Kinda like how a vibraphone's vibrato
As someone who once worked in a factory full of men missing fingers, this makes me anxious beyond belief hahaha
An older coworker once said, young man I can show you 8 ways to get the afternoon off - while holding up 8 digits and two nubs.
@@PapaWheelie1 I suppose you could find a way to get the nubs off, too
It is great to see your thought process. Your projects are amazing.
You are not just one of those youtube guys. You are absolutely amazing, filled to the max with creativity. A true and pure artist, a creator. I'm happy to be able to follow your way!
You’re a gift to this world
This is a very Magpie thing to do, and it's lovely.
using an acoustic guitar, replacing the back with the leslie and plugging the sound hole in the front would do a lot to enhance the effect of the baffle on the sound.
Probably not as much as you think, as the soundboard would be radiating the sound forward anyway. The job of the soundhole isn't actually to project sound as much as to release the pressure that would resist large bassy movements of the board.
Genius!! I like the way your head works.
The gyroscopic effect must be weird when you turn while playing
This is unhinged, mate! And I freakin’ love it 🤣🤣🤣
I don't think you realize what a great Leslie speaker pun you made in this case with "unhinged".
7:27 - IT'S BEEN A HARD DAY'S NIGHT
I thought the same. ;-)
Me to was going to say then saw your comment
You are an inspiring bloke. Thank you.
Absolutely awesome
Incredible. Thank you.
Yep, you totally should enter this thing into the Great Guitar Build-Off 2021. :D
Exactly how I would have done it! Love it!!
Including the plonker moment? :-)
That is incredibly cool and equally as dangerous
You're a madman...I LOVE IT!
You never disappoint, great stuff
I am busting up laughing, Sam you are the man.
Bro you keep making some of the coolest musical shit I've seen, always a pleasure to watch your ideas come to fruition!
Hey! Long time Leslie speaker fanatic and tech. I will tell you that you really should enclose the backside of the 12 inch speakers in their own speaker box enclosure. Doing so will help the Doppler effect be much more pronounced and sound even better.
Organ companies typically just put some dampening on the backside when they were mounted inside an organ because the inside of the organ acted as a separate chamber or box for the backside of the driver. They would then put an opening on the side of the organ chassis that would let the sound escape from just the baffle side of the Leslie.
Also, you will probably like the sound of them mounted horizontally like you did in the video verses vertically. Good luck. I’m exited for an update!
Brilliantly impractical. Well done
Your effort is invaluable.
Absolute madman. Bravo!
Looks awesome
This channel is total underrated. I love this dude.
That’s brilliant.
Great as ever!
Absolutely great idea ans work. Thank you very for that
This is so good! Great work
I really wasn't expecting it to sound like that, or even it working acoustically! Well done! Made my day!
This is like every indie dreampop guitarist's dream machine or something haha. Really cool build!
Really looking forward to seeing where this goes. Hope the finished thing goes in the museum too
Love it!
hench, such a great word, thanks doing this amazing idea.
Brilliant.
This is madness! Love it
Glorious!
You are a star and judging by the comments, you’ve inspired a lot of people.
you are crazy in a good way, i love it
Wow looking forward to the update on this cool
Very sutable for summer time indeed! 🙂
Can't wait to see what this turns into!
i love your builds man!
lmaooooo it's a beautiful thing when a mind, goes where yours go, which is an exact definition of the word Art. I get the feeling you like so many of us wish things like dream printers would be a real thing, how many times have you woken up in the middle of the night with a clear vision of something, only to have all the details quickly fade away. wouldn't be amazing if at that moment you could just hit a print button.
This is great. Can't wait for the enclosure. I think it will sound incredible!
brilliant !
Hahaha. Brilliant. Love it.❤️
New cool instrument
▲ i wonder what happens when you drop your pick in this sound hole :0
Years ago, when you were but a lad, I was in a band, and the guitarist played through a Vibratone. One night at rehearsal, it started making the dreadful "whomp whomp whomp" sound that's likely familiar to more than one Leslie user out there. We opened it up, and the drum had torn away from the axle; those salmon-colored ones have a bit of, like, paper glued to the styrofoam and axle, and, well, it gets old, dries, and fails.
Long story longer, I said "hang on a second," wend out to my truck, and brought in a near-new assembly like the giveaway one you've shown here. I'd just salvaged from some crap organ or another a few days prior, and just HAPPENED to have a whole Leslie assembly in my vehicle. Definite hoarder cred for me that day.
Plonker. Brilliant, I've not heard that for years. Loving your channel.👍✌👏
Hell yeah Leslie Speaker !! Keep up the awesome work, friend, your channel is tops!
this should be your entry into the great guitar build-off 2021
This is one of my favorite videos from you. Worlds most inconvenient guitar. :)
people like you mate are the future.well done.
So this is what professional lutherie looks like!
Nice trajectory!
I wonder if you could somehow make a smaller spinning baffle that you could slot inside a hollow body acoustic guitar or something.
this is so cool
Bro youre a genius!
You’re ThE MAN!!! 👌🏻😜 ducking awesome
You are mad. Mad in a right way. And that sound is awesome, by the way!
Electrical master. I love this dude. As a guitar player I love this.
Who are the 29 people who don't like this video? I've enjoyed every minute. Good effort and inventive imagination.
I've wanted 1 of these for ages my Friend showed me 1in the early 2000s and I've been amazed ever since I wonder how it would sound playing music at different speeds and volumes. retro vintage tech is great fun to play with and experiment on . Cool channel by the way
You are crazy, can’t wait to visit!
Your so fun to watch man

As a guitar maker, I approve this!!!
Yesss 🙌 this is what I subscribe for 🎸
Sweet!!!!
One doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates 🎈
That sounds pretty damn cool. Cool project dude!
that sounds absolutely wild
Good work Mr B..!!
I have a modified 1963 Hammond B3 with Leslie 147, the Hammond has 1/4" jacks in and out so you can input anything through the Hammond out via the Leslie, amazing sound and warmth.
Your final description of what the modulation we hear is - made me laugh man.. :) Truth is king.
I definitely need this poster for the 2n3904, I sometimes hesitate to tattoo it on myself
Another worlds first my friend, CHEERS!
This is the sort of thing I'd expect from the magpie
Lol! You 'crazy' super coool man!! lol, awesome!!
Cool 👍🏻
