- We have a wedding to attend in Utah... in February... so of course we are flying our Cirrus SR20! In this video we finish a quick fuel stop and depart Huntsville Alabama (KHSV) on an IFR flight to Gainesville Texas. It's IMC most of the way, except for an unexpected but very welcome sunset just before flying the approach into Gainesville (KGLE). Without a doubt, the most beautiful sunset we have experienced in our lives, and a sight for sore eyes after battling headwinds and IMC all day long! #flightvlog #thecirruslife

Weather was forecast to be good, but instead we flew an approach to minimums and at night. That was unplanned, but a fun and confidence building challenge!
This will be a multi-part series where we will document each leg of our flying journey. Our route will take us from North Carolina, through Alabama, Texas, Albuquerque New Mexico, St. George Utah, and finally ending up in Provo Utah. We fly through IMC, over the plains, over the Grand Canyon, over snow capped mountains, and more. It is a beautiful journey! Thanks for coming along!

Found your channel while looking for sr20 stuff. I'm blown away seeing a young family flying around like this. So adorable. I raised my 3 children alone from the time they were 8, 4, & 1 to adulthood. I loved the long trips to see family every year in the car. I always tried to make it fun for them. Watching you fly with your kids is so cool. Really enjoyed watching. Cute couple too. 💑
Thats some big boy flying right there!! Well done.
Nice flying. Be careful out there....remember these recips are all toys!
These are the first 2 videos I have seen of yours. Good job. I looking forward to the rest of your trip.
From my experience in a USMC fighter, I have a Small suggestion, when flying at night turn down the instrument lights. It allows for better night vision outside the cockpit. It always helped me.
Thanks for the tip. The lights were actually down pretty low, but the editing and camera makes them look brighter than they were, but always a good idea!
Excellent video and flying! I've been considering an SR20 but read a lot of posts refer to it as a trainer, but i'd say your video is proof it is Obviously more than a trainer if you're not into spending the $$$ for the 22. Also if you're smart you can avoid the weather requiring the FIKI capability. Again well done.
Job well done, and that sunset...
Hand flying to minimums, that's a legit approach, great job. Awesome wife to stay confident in your skills.
miss seeing new videos from you guys
You are a badass! Night IFR and perfectly on centerline. Nice work.
Found your channel while looking for SR20 videos. What a great find! Thanks for all the work putting these together.
Great video. I loved the subtitles at the beginning, almost spit out my coffee. Especially the Central Time one. The approach was awesome, I loved that you brought us all the way thru it. I cheered when you had the lights in sight.
Haha.. Yeah, it was a relief for sure seeing those lights!
What a cool pilot ! Legit !!!
I want my airplane back!!!!!!!
I enjoyed this very much. Thank you putting out there for us. Robert
My hands are sweating right now...thanks man! Lol
Damn good flying though.
Excellent! I had a similar approach to Galveston last November but it wasn't as pretty as this one. Nice work!
Enjoyed the video. I would have been sweating till I seen the runway lights.
It got my heart rate up a tad, for sure!
Amazing!!!!!!!! Good stuff!!!
Great flying and awesome family time!!
Thank you!
No idea why this channel has so few subscribers. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing
Just came across your channel today and absolutely love what I've seen so far. We are in Contract on an SR20 right now and have our PPI scheduled for next Monday so fingers crossed we close next week. These videos are making me antsy! Can't wait to make trips like this ourselves!
Good job! Thanks for an awesome flying video.
Good job!!! Nothing like seeing those lights after a long trip and an approach in low weather.
Really cool trip guys. You are inspiring. Well done for the approach to minima
Awesome video, ty
Outstanding piloting! Thanks for sharing.
Nice video... and great job on the approach!
Good job on the approach
Great video..
Greetings from Nashua (odd place) NH 😀. Just found the channel, enjoying your videos!
Nice! I grew up in Bedford!
@@TherebyAir What a small world, I grew up in Bedford too! I'm in Upstate NY now and only a week away from my PPL checkride!
What made you switch from the avidyne to an IPAD? Thanks and awesome videos even now!
Like a boss!
Wow I was really paying attention. Now that we are safely down who is the band there in the middle and at the end? Sounds like Shania Twain? :) Good job captain.
Awesome sunset and intense approach!
Looking forward to seeing how the sr20 does out west (New Mexico, Arizona, Utah). I'm in AZ and considering finding a g1 sr20. Let me know how it does.
Love the videos!
We fly into ABQ in the next leg, so stay tuned for that!
Thank you for awesome videos. I’ve been enjoying them. That white velvety pillow you are flying over. How awesome! Couple questions. Does Karen ever take the stick? Do you have auto pilot?
Hi Ken... Karen has tried flying a couple times, but she's so busy as official flight attendant lately. Maybe we need to do a date night video. But yes, thankfully we do have an auto pilot
How did you end up with the door ajar? Is it ajar or the seals bad? Yikes.
Man I don’t know if I would want to do that with my wife and children in the airplane.
Perhaps someday when you have more experience
Well done!!👍🏼 so you get thumbs up for video and I am subscribing for not asking me to subscribe!!! Dam good flying!!
Great video! I just shot a couple approaches down to minimums the other day but I had an instructor with me! Great approach and cannot wait to see more. Side question. How old are your kids? I have two little ones and wondering what age yours started traveling well in the plane?
It took some time. They had the usual issues when they first started flying young. I'd say about 4 years old they start doing really well. Before that, it's hit and miss!
@@TherebyAir I am looking forward to it. Just 2 years to go :) Thanks again for sharing!
Man, I am enjoying the videos! When this channel blows up, remember us early adopters!
A question for you though. With regard to W/B, how close are you to max gross when you fill it up with full fuel?
Thanks so much! You will never be forgotten haha! We were about 50-60lbs under gross on this trip with full fuel.
@@TherebyAir I know the SR20 has a tendency to have its CG a little forward when full fuel and two adults in front. You ever run into that issue?
No, never had that problem in ours. I think it's a bigger issue with the 3-bladed metal prop.
Where in NH are you from?
Bedford
Merrimack here !
Love that flight!😍 Like: check, subscribe: check, bell: check. Greetings from Buenos Aires 🇦🇷👋
