the bruce anchor works so good that i lost mine first time using it, now i hook the shackle in the front eye and zip tie the chain to the second eye

I don't know if it's made it down this way, but the box anchor was by far the best anchor I ever owned when I was up on the lakes in Georgia. I live down in Florida now and just use a large fluke anchor because it fits in the anchor locker well. I would love to see a box anchor tested in the Florida waters though.

You need to try the Mantus M1 & M2.
I am a singlehand live aboard sailor with 3 decades of daily anchoring experience (not a dock boy) and I have found nothing that compares. My old stand by was a 44lb Bruce because it would reset after a tide shift.

I wrote in your other video: Your "worst pivoting anchor" does not work because the angle is a little too big, and also because the shaft is much too short. It really IS bad, but it is interesting to know the reason also. I testes several similar lousy anchors, af IF you make the angle 30-32 degrees AND make the shaft double length they CAN work good.
Of course they should never get to the shops in the first place because of these mistakes in construction.

Let's agree to disagree. If you're anchoring in mud and sand, the best anchor pound for pound is a fluke anchor like a danforth or fortress. The best overall anchor shape in most conditions is a scoop anchor like a vulcan, shade, mantus, and a Bruce anchor has one of the worst holding power per pound of any anchor made . I use a Bruce on my dinghy as a stern anchor because I know I can drag the boat it with that anchor set.

To keep my boat steady, the best anchor I've found is the jetty rocks... I try to ram my boat into the rocks.

The best Anchor (across the full range of bottom conditions) is a Viking Anchor. Topping the charts for the most independent and scientific test program via the SV Panope Channel.

Good Video.. But disagree. I had the Bruce Anchor engulf a rock and not release no matter how I maneuvered my boat for an hour!. It literally Cupped onto this barnacled rock and would not release. Cut lose and Dove the next day to retrieve. Had to underwater hammer it free! The 2nd Fluke shown is what really works. Been hung up a few time, always releases.. A heavy duty one only. that is what I switched to. Still have the Bruce.

I have a Hobie Kayak and I have had good luck so far with the bell anchor but I have only fished sandy soil and I fish 30-35 feet deep

So... with the plough anchor, how does one get it back up again if it's dug itself in deep?

The last one is the anchor that the rentals usually include, obviously without chain. You need to stay close to the boat at all times.

On SV Panope's EXTENSIVE anchor testing, I think he believes the Viking anchor was the single best. Not cheap, though.

you guys missed the "fishermen" and U.S. Navy style anchors, both of which are excellent holding in rocks or coral

The small grapnel you showing in this video is pointless. I use a 4kg one on river estuaries here in South Africa and it works 100% and also folds up nice and small

Great video except for the camera work. I mean come on, he’s pointing at the anchors, talking about them, going from one to the other and the camera is pointed and zoomed at his face. This could be much improved
