    I honestly think that headstock on the single cut is totally fine, really. I think it looks better than if they had tried to do something original and weird like some companies do. I just got a Harley Benton CST-24T in Emerald Flame a week ago. Mine similarly took a long time. It was ordered in late April... It was out of stock, so that added time, but once it shipped it took just over 2 months for me as well, and most of the time was just waiting to get through customs. It was only actually moving for about 5-10 days out of all of that time. Glad it's finally here though, and glad they pack the guitars well so mine had no shipping damage! Mine also has some gritty frets, but I bought a fret polishing kit ahead of time because I expected them to need a little love at that price.

    • @niclastname
      @niclastname 4 года назад

      @@kelvinnana205 Mine is really good so far. It did need some adjustment and setup out of the box though. And mine personally needed the nut replaced (which I did). Though I believe the bad nut was a quality control issue, and not as it was meant to be, because I asked some people on the Harley Benton and guitar subreddits who told me that theirs wasn't like that. I just preferred to change the nut myself which is pretty simple, than to send the whole guitar back. I had planned on upgrading that anyway for tuning stability.
      I think the fret polish kit I bought was $10 ish on amazon and that was just about 15min of work, and now the frets are nice and smooth. Overall I think it's a great guitar for the cost, but you'll probably need to give it a little attention out of the box for it. Once you do, it's worth well above the price though, if you ask me.
      Also, the neck is slimmer than I expected (which is a plus for me). It's not super duper Ibanez thin, but it's noticeably thinner than the cheap Epiphone I have.

    The common question about Harley Benton guitars is, "How are they making a profit on these things?" and I have a easy answer for that question. When you buy a Harley Benton guitar, what you are basically doing is the same thing as the box stores are doing, your just cutting out the store from the equation. Basically big box stores buy guitars from the manufacture's at a price that ensures the manufacturer is making a decent profit, and then those stores resell it to you with a certain percentage added to the price to ensure they are making a profit on it too. So when you buy a Harley Benton guitar, you are basically cutting out the middle man and you are buying a guitar at a price that is actually closer to what it is worth.
    Take Guitar Center, they will buy a load of Squires at a low price of maybe 90.00 or so, then they will resell that guitar for 200.00 ish. They will sometimes put them on sale for about 170.00 and man what a deal right? Now just picture you could buy that single Squire from Fender at the same price Guitar Center pays, and that is essentially what you are doing when you buy a Harley Benton guitar.
    Mind you, most major brands put a cap on how much Guitar Center can cut off the price, that is the whole Minimum Advertised Price thing that happens, I am pretty sure Fender got in trouble in the UK for it not to long back, but anyhow. So even if you managed to find out exactly what Guitar Center or AMS or what ever big box store actually paid for a guitar, you could never get them to come down beyond a certain point that is well above cost. But I am off on a rant here on a topic no one really cares about so, yeah.. Harley Benton guitars look pretty good for there price, and with nothing more than a little setup on them they will play almost as good if not as good or better than some of the bigger brand guitars. So clean up those frets and set up the action you like and then take care of the intonation on that ugly yellow/orange monster you have there and it will be insane.
    Enjoy who ever bothered to read this lol. I hope you have a wonderful day and stay safe out there, I hear there are people who like T.V. yellow guitars out there, and that is just scary lol.

    • @allstopblue5717
      @allstopblue5717 4 года назад +2

      No dude. You are refusing to TRULY answer the question. These prices are so insanely low, that simply “cutting out the big box store” does not equate to making a profit. They are utilizing slave labor. Plain and simple. They’re not the only ones, but that’s exactly what is occurring.

    • @lfaf9509
      @lfaf9509 4 года назад +3

      @@allstopblue5717
      Not all guitars follow the same exact model exactly as I am about to tell you, but the cheaper ones generally do.
      Lets say we have a Fender Squire guitar and Guitar Center is selling it for 200.00. They paid nearly 50% of that price for that guitar, so basically they paid 100, and now they are selling it for 200.00. There has been a lot a misinformation about this "leaked" out over the years, but that is basically how the cheap guitars work.
      Now what about Fender/Squire? Well they added about 50% to the price before they sold it as well, so that knocks the price to build the guitar down to 50.00 ish. They also made Guitar Center to sign a contract that tells Guitar Center they can not advertise a price below what they have permission to. This actually matters a lot in this whole thing, but Ill skip it for now for the sake of not writing a huge book lol.
      So what Harley Benton is doing is building that 50.00 guitar, and charging a rather normal rate of about 50% on it to ensure they make a profit.
      But what about slave labor right? Well, lets take an American Made Gibson, I am about to leave you speechless or in the state of shock. Ready? No Gibson made on the line cost Gibson over 500.00 to build, and that includes all cost. This is mostly because of the economy of scale and the insane amount of cost savings they get by making most of there parts and the insane deals they get per part when they do have to buy parts outside of Gibson. That includes the cheap paint jobs they do that everyone thinks is so special, that includes the sanding and buffing, all of it!, and yes that includes all taxes and what not.
      So, when Squire produces a guitar that cost them 50.00 and sells it for 100 to the people you buy it from, mind you not all businesses will get that same exact price, some will pay more for it, but those are mostly mom and pop stores. Now, there really is no need for slave labor, when the cost of living where they are building these guitars is so low that they can get away paying a quarter of what they would have to pay Americans to do the same work. So they pay what looks to me and you to be insanely low wages, but to the local people working for that money, those wages affect there lives in the same way our minimum wage does hear. It gives them a starving wage, just like our minimum wages do hear in the U.S.
      okay, I am getting dangerously close to ranting lol.
      The short of it is this, guitars do not cost anywhere near what we pay for them, and we have been being gouged for years and years, so long that it is not even noticed by most folks. I see no reason to believe it is anymore slavery than what we have in the U.S...

      I own over 20 guitars and 2 ukeleles and the Harley Benton SC-450Plus LD Vintage Series is the most troublesome guitar taht I have ever owned. The fist one arrived with a dime size dent on the side near the rear strap button. I don't believe that it was shipping damage as the inner shipping box was in perfect condition and there was nothing apparent that could have caused the dent. I believe that it was shipped with the dent already there. Thomann promptly replace it after UPS picked it up. The second one that I received was a project guitar. The low e string will not stay in tune because the tuner has no tension, it is loose. One of the tone pots does not work, it does absolutely nothing when turned and the three-way toggle switch need replaced as it has about 1/4" play side to side in the middle position. I was
      planning on buying a Harley Benton Fusion-II HH EB OCT
      when it was back in stock but that is highly unlikely now. They did offer me a refund if I decided to return it but after paying $66 non- refundable shipping I decided to keep it and they offered me a partial refund for repairs. Also the tuners are installed unevenly, it is very obvious from the back of the headstock. Thiss seems to be a common issue on this guitar.

      @lfaf9509 4 года назад

      @@shooter4473
      That sucks, I have seen that story or one just like it from many others from every brand. Dents and scratches on brand new guitars, and bad tuners and bridges and such on the guitars. It does happen from time to time for sure, but dealing with those kinds of issues from Harley Benton/Thomann has to suck considering you have to ship guitars over seas to send them back. I saw basically the same kind of story from a man with a brand new Gibson about a week ago or so. Basically his first guitar they sent him had something wrong with the TOM bridge, that made it dead on arrival. So he sent it in for replacement and got back another guitar, the second one had cracks and what not, so he sent that one in, and the final one had a bad tuner, so he sent it in for a full refund because he was done. That was a Gibson, and it was worth thousands of dollars, and it happened to him within the last year or so.
      That does not excuse Harley Benton for the issues you experienced, I was just pointing out that those issues are kind of out there for most company's.. and they are crap for everyone when it comes to buying guitars. Lucky replacing pots are cheap when the guitar owner is the one doing the work, the same goes for the toggle switch, and considering its a project guitar, that was likely going to happen anyhow. Though it sucks to no end that you had issues with the pots that came with the guitar, though I am wondering if it was a soldering issue or just a bad pot all together. I mean, I watched a video just a couple days ago, the fella in the video bought a Fender and its three way was broken from the get go, so he had to replace the guitar. Well he didn't have too, but he is kind of like me when it comes to this kind of thing, and feels that when he receives a guitar, it should be in working order. A quick Fret job and new strings and a fret board cleaning and oiling and intonation are all easy to do and stuff I do anyhow when I get a guitar, but bad parts all together is a automatic send it back situation for me. Sometimes we get lemons when we have guitars sent to us though the mail, and it seems as if you have had that happen to you with your Harley Benton SC-450Plus LD.
      Over all I haven't seen a lot of issues like that with Harley Benton guitars in general, but I have seen a couple. Though to be honest, I usually see complaints about fret ends and finish or pickups not sounding like a 500.00 pickup lol. Usually the issues I see with Harley Benton tend to be normal stuff or cosmetic, which are all kind of inexcusable to me personally when it comes to any guitar over 200.00 USD but others seem to accept them in thousand dollar plus guitars now days. The downside of buying a Harley Benton is that it takes longer to get to you then other guitars because of the distance it has to travel. Where the upside is the price for the guitar, though its possible you might end up paying more for the shipping, then you do for the guitar its self lol. I do wish they had inventory here in the U.S. so we wouldn't have to pay insane prices to ship a guitar over seas, but then I guess the price for America Stored guitars would likely have to be increased a bit.
      I have seen more positive story's about Harley Benton guitars than I have negative ones for sure, but that goes for every brand really. I am rambling and I should stop, I just woke up and read your reply, maybe I might come back later and come up with a better, more organized response lol. I hope all is well, and I hope your Harley Benton SC-450Plus LD works out for you in the long run.

    I have several Harley Bentons in my collection. A little tweaking and you have a great guitar with its own character. After some customization they are not inferior to an expensive Fender, Gibson or Ibanez. And I am very critical. For me, the tools are for in the studio or on the stage. The big difference is in the sale. A well-known brand keeps its value.

Coil Tap is where they take at output signal earlier in the bobbin wind reducing output creatings a single coil sound but with the noise cancelling issues of a humbucker, Coil tapping is how transformers in amps give you 4ohm, 8ohm,16ohm outputs by coming off the windings at different points- pretty much

I got one of their Telecasters because I like the X inlays, and after smoothing the frets, dressing the sprouting, setting the neck and bridge . . . it's awesome. For like a hundo too. Now, I did pay like 40 extra for their "setup" but it still needed set up, so I don't know what they did but it did say their setup involved some fret leveling . . . I don't know if it was wise or if I'm glad because without the extra forty I might have had fret leveling issues which I don't have the tools for. But anyway, I love my HLK so much it's now my no.1 which shocked me, so I'm asking people to do reviews on them but they're practically unheard of. Had the treble bleed circuit built in, adequate pickups, no QC issues just the frets needed some extra filing and polish. I love it though I mainly play the Harley Benton ST-20 HSS I got a few months later because: 1 Strat tones heaven 2. Lighter and more comfortable to play 3. I rather learn on a longer scale guitar, I find it easier to then translate to shorter scale when I pick up the single cut.
    Enjoy those guitars man! Harley Benton is my go to (mainly because of my budget, but no regrets whatsoever, even if I could afford more expensive stuff). My only gripe is the lack of aesthetic variety in most of their models. The ones that do have different looks on their strats and teles just don't appeal to me. But nothing a can of spraypaint can't fix later. Oh, btw, my single cut has a nicer looking headstock than that , but you have to be careful with anything resembling an open book or else the "play authentic" police may show up at your door...

If you haven't expereienced a Fernandes sustainer, you haven't lived. Fernandes share the same factory as Ibanez and Ibanez have installed the sustainer into a few of their own guitars over the years. I own one and it's my Steve Vai Jem. I'm not a fan of Vai but the guitar is just gorgeous to look at with it's tree of life running down the fretboard and gold hardware. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of gold hardware. I also recommend you try a HB SG.

    I picked up a HB SC-550 Deluxe blemished for about $290. The blemish thing turned out to be a few of the inlay cuts were slightly over sized for the inlays. No big deal to me. I changed the stock pickups and it sounds better. The stock were not bad at all though. I gotta tell ya I had bought a new 2000 Les Paul standard for $1500 back in 2000. I prefer the HB over it. The HB finger board is smooth. The LP rosewood board is very grainy. The HB neck joint is superior with the cut out for easier access. I have it set up with a very low action. Frets are perfect with no buzz. I did work the fret ends a bit smooth them out. The only other issue with the HB is the cheap plastic nut. I wanna change it to bone or brass. The HB is a really great guitar for the price. I enjoy playing it over my LP.

    The reason the split sounds of the pickups is different Brian is because the scale length of the guitars is different - just like the difference between a Strat or Tele and a Les Paul.
