A lot of Credit to Rizzo, he saved bounch of crazy throws from Volpee
At times the middle infielder needs to get rid of the ball quickly in order to make the out. Volpe does not have a "plus" arm but makes up for it with range and quickness. Rizzo is a former Gold Glover so he can field. Having a guy at first who can field well is a luxury. That's why Teixeira was so valuable in his prime.
Rizzo is also slick at first
Volpe will be a solid piece for the future. We do not need superstars at every position. We need guys that can stay on the field, have reasonably above average production, and have the potential for a couple stellar seasons. I look forward to seeing his progress.
the Yankees are known for clutch hitting and defense with a solid bullpen, thats how they won rings..
A rookie-year Gold Glove in the analytics era and 20 HRs as a SS in NY? If he never takes a single step forward, he's the Yankees' SS for a decade plus. If he ends up with a 125 OPS+ and with that defense, he's an MVP candidate.
prior to making the bigs, he was listed as a top 10 prospect in mlbs 100 top prospect list 2 years in a row, so hes got the raw skills to be a superstar. He looks like he's made adjustments from last year so far, with this hitting. Hopefully he's able to stick with this new approach and keep fine tuning as needed, like judge has been able to do through the years
@@robotbro7187 i don't know , reminds of when the Yanks had Andy Stankowitz at SS..remember those teams? thats when i first got into baseball when the Yankees were not great but had my boy Don Mattingly
Yea i agree and they need to keep getting young guys not old guys who used to be good like Josh Donaldson
We have to give rizzo some credit
Love the hustle every time and love the kid. Just wish they would stop snubbing Judge with gold glove
Dude missed 2 months
@@TheEgyptianMagician2 still he has had elite defense consistently last year the excuse was he played center a huge part the season this year it's the toe after breaking dodger stadium what will be next year's excuse
He’s def an elite fielder but he missed 35 percent of games , would be a complete mockery if he got the gg
He missed a 3rd of the season dude
Needs to stay on the field….
My favorite player
6:08 catch 😮💨
Love him
He is him
Nice job, Rook!
Volpe is elite haters SMD
We want Bauer
Now just gotta get his bat up. I’d build the team around him with fresh young talent, even if that means a few years of being on the bottom
He's got the potential to be a stud, but i think he will be more a supporting piece to the core of Judge, Cole, and hopefully Juan Soto
@@drewz9807soto is here 🙏
@@drewz9807 aged well
Who’s here after he sold the game
(I still love ‘em tho)
Yannkes we want something this off season please
rttsでシルバースラッガー取ってた
I Think in the Long run he's going to play 2ed base for them .
He was good for a kid only 22 years old!
This is as good as it got for 2023?! What a terrible year for defense at the SS position. Far cry from Andrelton Simmons making unbelievable plays. Volpe made juuuuust above average plays.
This video is too long. How about a Jeter carreer defense reel about 15 20 seconds.
Volpes offense highlights would be like half a second
Yankees have gotten old and stale they need some young energy
upholding the longstanding Yankee tradition of gold glove winning shortstops who suck at defense. From a lifelong yankee fan
Awww keyboard warrior expert know it ALL is upset, do you have tissues available 😂😂😂😂😂
You don’t know ball
Don't say "from a Yankee fan" when you're clearly not a Yankee fan you clown 💀💀💀💀
led the AL in exactly zero defensive stats @@ajmgiants Not DRS, or UZR or Outs Above Average. Fails the eye test too
@@Mike-mx1bw If you take out Wander Franco (unofficially disqualified from consideration because likes 14-year old girls), he actually did lead the AL in DRS. So he led the AL in DRS for people who were eligible to win the award, at least.
My boyfriend
There’s no hope for This New York Yankees team.
His arm is not SS caliber. He would make an excellent 2nd baseman
@c.r.9318,
His arm looked quite strong to me.
Your IQ is not human caliber. You would make an excellent parakeet.
🤦🏻♂️
his arm strength looked fine in this video tf are you saying
Love when the idiots out themselves. You are in fact that idiot
You know he's not that good when him fielding a ground ball and throwing a guy out at home is in his highlight reel. SMH
it's a defensive highlight reel. he saved a run from scoring lol
His arm is a bit weak but he gets rid of the ball quickly and he has very nice hands and great anticipation. The Yankees would be wise to keep good defensive 1B for him as he will need someone to make scoops now and then, but overall he is a nice defensive SS as well as a promising leadoff man.
Excellent analysis
Cant forget about Rizzo making those tough grabs!
I think he is such a good natural talent, I followed him through the minors because he was instantly engaging and seemed like an old pro and seeing some videos on his upbringing shows me he is. The only thing I see lacking is his impulse control, he tends to be a bit jumpy so he doesnt always center before throwing and when hitting (obviously not in this defensive video) he will jump on balls rather than taking them for a walk or to extend his at bat. I believe this will right itself as he gets older though, at 22/23 over his first two seasons he's still in an emerging adulthood mentality where you tend not to commit as quickly for fear of being wrong and here and in 2024 he looks most at ease when he's just going with the natural flow and letting his muscle memory take hold and you can see the questioning in his face on the few occasions where he struggles at the plate or with a play. I think by age 25 he will be set and off on a tear and will stay a great asset and hopefully a Yankee for life.
Let’s gooooo
I still haven’t seen anyone better than Jeter play shortstop. 😊
need something this offseason probably try and aquirre rookie betts he's looking for a trade
soto good enough for you?
