    Thank you for your video. It's easier to understand than trying to read it out of a book. Your video is thorough and well explained. I have a bx2380 with a 60" mower deck and now I need to get to work. Thanks

    Thanks Paul. You've taken the mystery out of deck maintenance. I bought my BX22 used and have the front loader, backhoe, box blade, rake, grapple, and tiller. I was thinking about a flail for weed control but I've found a used deck that might do just fine and eliminate my walk behind mower on the lawns. At 73 I'm getting lazy about mowing. Bearing changes might be fun to watch.

    Thanks for all your videos. I bought a set of Harbor Freight hose pliers for another job on a car. These work great for grabbing the spring with very little force to take the spring on or off. Also if you need a new air filter try the Napa 6449 Gold Filter made by Wix. They also said that oil filters are available.

    Hello: I did not know all those grease fitting were on the deck. I use the red grease in my gun. I guess it's time to get the grease gun out. I run a Cub Cadet 12.5 HP for 17 years, never cleaned the deck and traded it in with a one inch hole in it. The last 7 years I did NOT change the OIL, and never bought a new air filter. Some day someone will be glad this guy did all this work. Great video, glad I watched. A little grease is cheaper than a $60.00 to $80.00 Bearing Assembly.

    Looks like we all are getting ready for summer. I am amazed your grease fittings are still in the wheels. Mine were just push in and fell out during the first greasing. The dealer gave me another set of wheels and the fittings pulled out also. Then Kubota was contacted and they said you don't need to grease the wheels so don't worry about them. I moved my fittings to the axle and with the 60" deck the wheels still wear out quickly even with greasing before every use.

    • @paulsargent6688
      @paulsargent6688  8 лет назад

      +Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations I saw how You tapped the bolt to get grease to the wheels. I thought that was clever. Can you get JD wheels for the Kubota mower and retro the deck so you can be able to grease the wheels. You said the JD wheels were better. Or can you get another mowing deck for your JD. You said you like the one You had before. Food for thought. I'll be cleaning up the grass catcher tomorrow. Powder coating is coming off in spots. I hate that stuff.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 8 лет назад

      +Paul Sargent The trouble is the Kubota deck is supposed to float and the wheels not contact the ground. With the 60' deck and ground that is not perfectly flat the wheels contact the ground more then they should and self destruct. I have a idea to make ball bearing hubs for the wheels in the future that should solve the problem. My deere deck still cuts like new, but the tractor is heavy and tired. Powder coat should not flake off if applied properly. I think Kubota should guarante it.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 8 лет назад

      +Paul Sargent It doesn't mater how high you set it because the wheels must be set 1/4 to 1/2" off a level surface to get a flat cut when the deck rocks, or on a sidehill. It is just a poor, cheep design. A 60" deck should have better wheels.

    You might want to try "truck bed coating" for the under side of the deck. I've always used the "Dupli-Color Truck Bed" brand. The debris will still wear it but
    it lasts a little longer than paint. I think it is also "slicker".

    I got a 72inch iseki deck very similar to yours, when i change my gearbox oil i take the tension off the spring to disengage the outer spindles and ducktape a drill to the pto shaft and spin the oil up to get any metal particles that are sitting on the bottom off the bottom, the oil comes out aerated holding any metal particles suspended in the oil and it looks white its that bubbly, after a wile the air goes and i check how much metal came out.

    Paul, how do you torque the mower blade bolts? When I block the blades andI try to use the torque wrench the dust cup and pulleys just spin. I can get the bolts on and off using an impact tool but I would like to have them torqued to the manual specifications. I'm just wondering how you do it. Thanks! By the way I used your rope idea to take the spring on and off and it worked great.

    Thank you for making this. Wondering if you have ever had to swap the tension idler pulley? I'm doing mine now, bought the OEM part, and the pulley is really hard to get on the shaft. To the point where I am worried about damaging it. Is it normally really tight?

    Hi Paul I just bought a 2370 Kubota i have the 60 inch mower deck on it and am having a problem with it scalping the grass i have raised the deck to 3 inches and the wheels are raised to the proper setting according to the manual.I thought the deck was supposed to float it does not seem to be, my land is a little bumpy what am i doing wrong?

    • @paulsargent6688
      @paulsargent6688  8 лет назад

      +john Last John, I just looked at my manual and for self balance suspension linkage. Something I was unaware of. On self balancing mowers, when setting different cutting heights, one also has to change the anti scalp roller height to a different setting too. In the Manual, under Operation, Important for self balance suspended linkage. There is a cutting height chart associated with the proper anti scalp wheel height. Try that out if you have not already. Mine gets set for 1/4 to 1/2 inches below the deck. Yours uses a different scale. Hope it is helpful.

    • @jaminjohn08
      @jaminjohn08 8 лет назад

      From the manual
      Its states 1.To set cutting height move the hydraulic control lever rearward to raise the mower to the highest position.Turn the cutting height control dial to adjust height.
      2.Set the anti-scalp rollers position as shown to have the same cutting height, For example Dial cutting height 3.0 - 3.25 anti scalp roller set at position c which is third hole down from top.The dealer says you should be able to put your finger under the wheels and they should not be touching the ground. The book says Set the anti scalp rollers height to keep rollers and ground from 0.2 to 0.5in as stated it will still scalp over small dips and hills. Question what is the point on having the wheels on the mower deck if they dont touch the ground to keep the deck blades from scalping the tops of little hills on your lawn?Or maybe i should cut the hills and bumps at a different angle like you said before .Thanks for your time!

    • @paulsargent6688
      @paulsargent6688  8 лет назад

      +john Last The theory is that the wheels should hit before the deck touches the ground. The wheels should hit the ground only when the slope changes. They are not suppose to be rolling on the ground at all times when You are cutting. The 0.2 to 0.5 settings are not for your self balancing suspension mower. You need to set them according to the sliding scale, not the fixed setting. Cutting height of 3.0 to 3.25, position the roller at the C setting. etc What ever the height, make the roller adjustment. I'm assuming they want You to put the pin through the deck and through the C hole of the wheel shaft. I would also try cutting in 2 different directions. It gives a nicer cut and evens it out a bit. I have 2 videos on cutting the grass and it shows cutting in 2 directions if that is helpful. Let me know how it works. I'm curious to see if using the sliding scale settings works out for You.

    • @jaminjohn08
      @jaminjohn08 8 лет назад

      You are correct about the sliding scale settings and yes always rotate your cutting directions. I will raise the mower deck if need be and level the ground in the spots i need to eventually after i have some dirt delivered and get a box scraper.I plan on doing all this in the near future,I'm cutting about 3/12 acres or so.just bought my 2370 kubota used year 2014 with 55hrs on it with a snowblower {never been used},new mower deck and loader{never used}The former owner passed away and bucket for $15,900 from my local kubota dealer in northern michigan.I have 46 acres about 40 wooded with a creek in the back and have big plans for my kubota Thanks for your help and i will be watching your videos

    curious if you get a high pitched whistle of sorts when your deck is engaged thx.

    • @paulsargent6688
      @paulsargent6688  8 лет назад

      +nite mare Why do You ask. I don't notice, but I'm very hard of hearing and don't wear my hearing aides when working outside. I made 2 videos of me cutting the grass, maybe You could listen and tell me if You hear it on mine also. . I did have to replace a universal joint on the mower drive shaft and I did notice that it sounded louder at one point. Hard for me to tell between the mower and the grass catcher noises. If You're getting a high pitched whistle, check the bearings on the U joints and check the gear box. They should all move freely and not feel stiff or gritty in all directions.

    • @nitemare5945
      @nitemare5945 8 лет назад +1

      +Paul Sargent I've only used my mower deck a couple of times practically brand new as i had another tractor i was doing my mowing with but before i mounted it up i greased everything just to be sure maybe its normal or maybe I'm running to high rpm when deck is engaged not sure keep in mind i never had a hydraulic shaft drive mower before either lol

    • @paulsargent6688
      @paulsargent6688  8 лет назад

      +nite mare I greased mine also and had to change the U joint with less than 200 hrs on the tractor. That's why I recommend greasing them 4 to 5 times a season. They are in a very dusty and moist environment. Water can do in a U joint very quickly. I try to blow off the deck as opposed to washing it off. I store it under a lean to and don't leave it out to the elements. You may already have a bad U joint. Check it out. If it's under warranty, bring the part down to the dealer.
