You do very good work young man! After 43 years surface coal mines mechanic and welder, I am now retired. I worked with a lot of young men, but I must say none were any more mindful of doing a good job than you. Keep it up and I am sure you will succeed in life! Be safe and God bless you!!!!
I am a new owner of one of these that just passed 15 hours, I am going to check all these things to make sure nothing loosened up from the factory. Thank you so much!
Nicely done instruction video. No fluff stuff, just straight to the task and very clear. I learned a lot from your effort and appreciate you taking time to help me!
Nice video! One thing to add, if I may ... After about 20 years, I lost a grease fitting from one of the outer mower's spindle shafts and the other outer spindle's grease fitting was loose. So make sure to check those also. As a precaution, I would recommend removing each of the outer spindle's grease fitting and reinstalling using 'Loctite' to mitigate it from coming loose on it's own. I believe just the outer most spindle's grease fittings are an issue due to them threading straight and directly onto the spindle shaft.
Excellent! Have same deck. My first riding mower! FYI my grease fitting for my middle spindle for the deck bearing never took grease. Figured twas a blind hole and sealed bearing. I was wrong. During my 2nd year of mowing I started hearing bearing noise. It would come and go too!! Loosened belt to check pulleys. The middle was hard to do since pto is connected to gearbox. But after rotating shaft could hear rough grinding. Long story shorter, that lower bearing never got a drop of grease. All it was was a bad zert/grease fitting!!! Wow after 30 years of plant maintenance that is the first time saw a zert that was plugged. I could have replaced zert and saved myself the hassle. Now out of warranty have to replace bearing and both seals. Been watching y’all since before I bought my 1880. Thanks! God Bless You!!!!!
Very helpful! I need to find that tool used to reinstall the spring. My center pulley does not have a grease fitting. Looks as if it was changed to a sealed bearing. I'm the second owner.
Just have to say that this is probably one of the best done instructional videos I have watched in a long time. complete and concise, much appreciated, thank you very much.
Congratulations on your tractor. I bet the blower is a lot of fun to run. I am glad that you find my videos helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very good except one thing I saw I do different. I was taught to line the blades up so there all facing the same direction so you get the best discharge of grass clippping plus it creates a better vacuum lift to raise grass to cut. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! My thought on the blade placement is the way I do the far left blade throws the clippings into the middle and the middle throws the clippings to the right blade. It seems to cut a little finer. Now you got me to thinking about this and I'll have to read up on how to clock the blades.
I was just talking about that with someone else. It will cut fine anyway. I think I get a better cut with them the way I have them in the video. After you mow a couple times they will be positioned differently.
Thanks! The cutting height, does not match what is on the adjuster. If you adjust it so it does, you run into problems. If you can' get it into the top position, there is an adjustment at the left rear wheel. That is about all I can think of on the cutting height knob.
Thanks! I use a spring tool like this except mine came from harbor freight. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/performance-tool-brake-spring-hook-tool-ampere-w86557/9010310-p?product_channel=local&store=7563&adtype=pla&product_channel=local&store_code=7563&gclid=Cj0KCQjwirz3BRD_ARIsAImf7LOdhBDbh-4Ck3hQYzbz34QMZiYuuUrtJ_9K3fZlwVUq9fSLbbqaGigaAl_lEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
One of the best narrated, instructional videos for this Kubota maintenance! Great job! Question: Hubby accidently ran over a piece of rebar barely sticking out of the ground & broke one of the blades off (broke the bolt)our RCK54P23BX deck on our BX2350. After having the rest of the bolt removed by our local mechanic, we're ready to put the blade back on - do you know, on our deck, is there only 1 washer between the bolt & blade or multiple? Local dealer says 1, but a parts diagram I found online has multiple... Wondering if we lost the additional washers on the other blades in years past or if the dealer has it right? Unfortunately we've run into several issues with knowledge at the dealer so I'd love a second opinion! TIA!
Thank you. The tool is a brake spring tool from harbor freight. I can't find it on their website, maybe they don't have it. Here is one just like it on amazon. www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-W86557-Brake-Spring/dp/B003WZPP50
I have watched all your videos and they are great. I do not own a Kubota scut but am really trying to justify owning one with a mid mount mower and front end loader to use around our small place. I may contact our local dealer but was looking at the BX1880 specs online and am not able to find out if a 48" mower deck is available for the new BX1880 model. Thanks again.
I've been hearing them advertise a free 54'' deck on the radio. If you build a BX1880 on Kubotas website you can choose a 48'' deck. Take a look at a 2380 also. It has larger tires, which means more ground clearance, more pulling power, and higher top speed. You can also get R4 tires on the 2380. I'm glad to see that they use the same loader on all the BX's. The previous model 18hp BX's had a slightly weaker loader. Thanks for watching my videos. I appreciate it.
I broke the output shaft that goes to the center deck blade, it broke clean off just above the blade when I ran over a rock. Do you have any videos on the subject of replacing it? Should I consider having a repair shop do it? Thanks
Sorry, I don't have a video on that. The worst part is going to be removing the belt. Once the belt is removed you will need to remove the pulley. I think once the pulley is off the spindle will fall out and can be replaced.
Thanks! The tool came from harbor freight but I don't think they have it anymore. There are similar tools on amazon. This one looks better than mine, the handle is larger in diameter. www.amazon.com/Motion-Pro-08-0127-Heavy-Spring/dp/B000RG5UMA/ref=sr_1_47?dchild=1&keywords=spring+install+tool&qid=1609821587&sr=8-47

Sometimes a good hard pump on the grease gun will clear out a clogged fitting. Thanks for watching my channel!
One of the best maintenance videos I have watched. Great job!
Thanks!
Excellent. Very well done. I had to change my belt today. Your suggestion re: safety glasses and/or face guard VERY much appreciated.
Thanks!!
Thank you!! How old is your BX? I'm just curious how long your belt lasted.
I’m Retired from service business. You are a professional and an asset to your company. Good instructional video.
Well done, particularly for those among us who are weekend mechanics.
Thanks!

Awesome job and description. It’s appreciated since I just bought my MMM and will refer back next spring.

VERY thorough thorough inspection! Love this video
Much appreciated!
I'm not very mechanical, but your video gave me the confidence to do the maintenance myself. Many thanks!
That is awesome. I am so glad my video helped you. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank-you for this video. I have purchased a BX2370 with 60"mmm, BX5450 blower and I appreciate your videos to help me keep them in tip top shape.

Great video , don’t the blades need to be positioned in a certain way when reinstalling ?
I was just talking about that with someone else. It will cut fine anyway. I think I get a better cut with them the way I have them in the video. After you mow a couple times they will be positioned differently.
Excellent video, you exhibit way to much competence to ever get a job at my local Kubota dealer.
Lol, Thanks
Very nice and informative, I just bought a bx2680 with a 54 inch deck, identical

@@TractorTech Sounds good, thanks!
Great video, did you have a video on how to sharpen the blades?
Thanks! I do not have a video on sharpening the blades. I will keep that in mind.
Very comprehensive. Thank you!
Good video we lost the Manuel so this helped a lot
Thanks!
Great video … very informative I appreciate it very much !!
I'm very glad it helped.
very well done, thank you, great job..

Thanks for this very informative video! What kind of grease did you say to use? It was difficult to make that out because of other noises.
This comment just showed up, lucas heavy duty grease in the green tube is a good grease.
Nice complete job,the most difficult thing for me is reattaching the spring what tool was that?

If you over fill the gearbox will it hurt it the gearbox?
It may blow oil out the vent once the oil gets warm.
