This is great. Recently a child my grandson attended school with passed away,(she was 12 years old), one of the teachers sent out a request for small squares that will be handed out to the students as prayer squares. The teacher made tags to go on each one. This is perfect with no holes, I will however only be doing 2 or 3 rounds, as they want them to be small to fit in pockets........off I go to make as many as I possibly can..Thank you again,
Thank you SO much for these very easy, very consice instructions! I wanted something a little less "holey" then a traditional granny square for a blanket and I think this is perfect! XXXOOO
This is the solid square stitch I have been looking for! I made 2 quite large squares, continues the second one by doing another round in the front loop only then continued up for another 5 inches. Folded the edges over down to the round in the front loops. Pit a nice thick layer of quilt batting on the bottom and stitched the other square in place. Then stitched the folded edge to the row of loops still visible from the front loop only row, putting some stuffing in as I stitched. Voila! A cozy padded Dog bed!! Love this! It was fun to make, used scraps (about 600Gms) from other projects. Thank you for tis tutorial.
Thankyou for having the only video I found that explains how to do a solid no gap granny square that I could understand. I'm American and I think you have a pleasant voice. I just had to write down the pattern as you were talking and then just converted it to US terms. I would love to see what projects you did with this and how you would join the squares.
Great tutorial! Love how you can do a granny square with a magic ring to start and a no hole version. Thank you for recording this easy to follow instruction.
Thanks bunches! I have seen so many people making sweaters and such using granny squares, and I wanted to know how they made them without the holes. Now I can make my sweater with ease! :)
I live in the US and after translating your terminology where a UK Treble equals a US Double Crochet and a UK Double Treble equals a US Triple Crochet or a US Treble, I found myself better able to follow your pattern. Took a little doing, but now I've got it down. I only wish you had gone just one more round to better understand the beginning of the third round. I ended up going back to the beginning of the second round to help it make more sense. I thank you for your tutorial. It's great. :) P.S I reviewed your tutorial once more and it hit me that you actually stated in the end that after slip stitching to begin the third round, we are to UK Double Treble or US Double Crochet in each next stitch until we meet the first corner where we then follow your directions for completing a corner. I get it now. Yay!! So fun!!
Oh wow, this is a great idea for pot holders that I needed to make really quickly. They grow so fast and you're done in no time and are indeed solid, which is a necessity in pot holders. thanks!
Thank you for this simple and quick video! It took me a minute to "translate" (😆) because I'm in the U.S. so we call them double crochet stitches and triple crochet stitches (for the corners). Once my brain knew I had to translate that word each time, it was very simple. I don't care much for the magic circle, probably because Ive spent 45 years making a small circle with 5-6 chains. This is a great pattern to use as a base for other projects. Thank you dear and God bless!
I got this down after a few hours, thank you so much! I'm a super beginner and even this was easy to follow for me. Again thanks, have a wonderful day.😀😀
Thank you!!! I have read so many patterns for doing a solid granny square and could not get it - this shows me exactly what I need to do. This is so helpful!!!
Thank you so much. This was super easy to follow and I love that you use the British terms but explained the difference.. I knew there were differences but not what they were . Lovely video
Perfect. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Planning a blanket for my grandson and wanted solid squares that I can add motifs onto. Cars, trucks, etc Thank you for sharing!
Thanks. Just what I was looking for to make a blanket. I appreciated the added bonus of learning the magic loop to start . Quick not too wordy explanation.
Thank you soooo much. I've searched through so many granny square tutorials only to end up frustrated (I'm a newbie) your video is THE best. I just made my 1st one and it's actually a square lol.
I have been trying to get the hang of the magic circle!!! Getting no where fast, well I wanted to try this granny square without the holes and BAM you are the only one to show how to do the magic loop and make it easy 😊 thank you so much now I can try all those projects I have avoided because of the dreaded *magic loop* 👍🏻😊👍🏻
loved this! I like the square but hate the holes! LOL Also THANK YOU for ur nails & fingers being clean & tidy! I don't like watching nasty nails & yucky hands on some of the videos. Yours was GREAT!!
Thanks Faith. My Mum must have dragged me up properly lol, I can't stand mucky fingernails. Not saying I don't ever have them, but I always make sure I've scrubbed my hands before I film. I'll actually let you into a secret.. on my right hand, the thumb nail is half missing, due to a car door incident a few months before I filmed this. I nearly didn't film anything for the longest time as I was so scared I would put people off.!! But I guess I did a good job of fixing it up. Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching :)
Good morning, just found your channel. Love your instructions. Thank you for putting in a way that I can understand. My square really looks like a square. Thank you so much. Have a great day. From Casper, Wyoming
Thanks for this, came on looking for a pattern with no holes for a couch rug - plan is to use colour rather than fancy stitches and your square is perfect and you made it so easy as I can crochet but cannot read crochet patterns just knitting ones so you showing how its done made it really easy and first square finished by time you finished video as once I did first corner could see how it would be. You are a great teacher - some videos they show you but work too fast for you really to follow.
This tutorial was really helpful for me because I want to eventually crochet a granny square blanket. Hopefully I can do that once I learn this granny square technique. I was looking for the tutorial without the holes in the granny square and this was the one I was looking for!! Thank you so much. From Michaela M
Thank you so much! It has been long time since I was looking for granny square without the holes. You just nailed it. Thank you for your help and easy - to - follow instructions.
Hi there! Thank you very much for uploading this crochet pattern. This is exactly what I was searching for, a square/granny without holes. I will be using this method in my upcoming crochet blanket. Absolutely love it! Do have yourself a great day.
Thank you so much! Love it! i am always looking for something warm without the holes and yet still look like granny squares. Thank you so very much, now i can do it.
I know exactly what you mean Charlie! Holes look pretty, but when you need to be nice and warm,, they are not so great! LOL, thank you, glad you liked the video :)
Thank you for such clear instructions and video. I've only ever been able to do the traditional holey granny squares, so now I@ve learned something new!
I love this pattern I loved doing Granny squares but I got lots of Nice's. And nephews who can't have holes in the blanket also this would make a great sweater pattern
Thank you! I am designing a square Minecraft pillow for my son and did not want the holes in a traditional granny square but it’s been years since I worked a solid granny square.
Thank you for the Video. No background music or noise was wonderful. You are very clear with your instructions. I make Pet blankets for the local Animal Shelter so they have to be solid. Please consider making a video on Keyhold Scarfs worked with Worsted Wt yarn #4. Thanks again.
Hi and thank you so much for your beautiful tutorial...you won't believe 😘 💗 how I was looking for a square without gaps or holes and you did it so beautifully God Bless 💖 ❤ 🙏
I was looking for a solid square because I want to make a pixel Mario blanket for my kid, this is perfect . I also learned your super easy way to do a magic ring. great video thanks, I'll give your FB page a like too ☺
Thank you for this tutorial, I make items for preemies and the blankets can't be "holey" in case their little fingers and toes get caught in them. I can crochet quicker than knit, so this will be a godsend for me x
Hi Chris, that is so great, yes I do worry about making baby blankets with too many holes for little fingers to get tangled in. Pleased this video helped you on your mission! Keep up the awesome work you're doing. Thanks for watching :)
I've been looking for this for awhile now. Making my dog a bed and the cushion is square. I had no idea how to crochet a square so I can make the bed. Thank you!
I am making a bag from scrap yarn, and the pattern of the bottom is a granny square with the holes. So I am planning to use this instead, hoping for a much more solid bottom for the bag 😊
This would make a great base for a temperature afghan. I have a template for the grid. Can embroider the month on the beginning square for each month and on the final square, the year. I'd do the center row in the high temp, the second row in the low temp, and embroider the third row in the gemstone color of the month, the fourth row in a finishing color such as black or white. Might use a smaller gauge hook and lighter weight yarn for that project, though, due to the number of squares involved.
That sounds like a brilliant idea, I'd love to see how you get on with that, you can post a picture to my Facebook page if you use Facebook (or in a private message) but I love that idea. Thanks for watching :)
Hi Mary, for these squares you'd have to sew them together, but I do have videos on joining granny squares - check out my Granny Square playlist - ruclips.net/p/PLKFmQXzB77WYWv98nXDF-16h_8WRJKQdD Hope it helps. Thanks for watching :)
+dyeitb1ack It's good to know how to do the basics.. so we can make other projects. Glad you enjoyed it hun, and you're right, a good way to introduce a double treble. :)
Thank you for this tutorial! I want to make a cushion and didn’t want the stuffing to show - this is perfect. Can I ask his many trebles on the rows from 3 upwards before u start making another corner? I haven’t quite got the hang of it yet and I’m confused where to start the corners 😁
I would have liked to see what you do with the tail of the ring. I know you probably worked it in with a yarn needle but I saw how you kept pulling on it to tighten it. How do you keep it tight when done with your project? I am going to crochet a coaster for my vehicle cup holder. The drinks sweat or perspire and I wanted something to absorb the water and then dry out. I bought ceramic coasters made for the vehicle's cup holders but it would cling to my bottle and then fall off as I was drinking my water. Cotton coasters will work nicely 👌 I think. The cup holders have a square hole if you are wondering why I am crocheting a square and not a circle.

I am so sorry 😢
Finally! A solid granny square pattern that I could follow. Thank you.
Same!!!
Thank you SO much for these very easy, very consice instructions! I wanted something a little less "holey" then a traditional granny square for a blanket and I think this is perfect! XXXOOO

Try to slip stitch to the corner in the first row and move up each row after in the corner for a less noticeable adjustment.
Amazing tutorial - exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find at a simple enough way for me to understand anywhere else!

Thank you! Awesome! Hugs from Brasil.
love the tutorial!!! do you have a video on how to connect the squares?
Hi Mary, for these squares you'd have to sew them together, but I do have videos on joining granny squares - check out my Granny Square playlist - ruclips.net/p/PLKFmQXzB77WYWv98nXDF-16h_8WRJKQdD Hope it helps. Thanks for watching :)
Fab! I love versatile things like this :)My friend is just learning squares, this will be great way to introduce a few double trebles too!
+dyeitb1ack It's good to know how to do the basics.. so we can make other projects. Glad you enjoyed it hun, and you're right, a good way to introduce a double treble. :)
Very helpful thank you!
You're welcome!
You explained this very well😍 thank you so much
This was so helpful thanks So Much
You're very welcome, thank you for watching :)

You're very welcome, thanks for watching :)
Thanks-☆worked nicely for me too 😊
Great, I am very pleased. Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for this tutorial! I want to make a cushion and didn’t want the stuffing to show - this is perfect.
Can I ask his many trebles on the rows from 3 upwards before u start making another corner? I haven’t quite got the hang of it yet and I’m confused where to start the corners 😁
thank you, I like that it's different x
Thank you ❤
I would have liked to see what you do with the tail of the ring.
This is amazing! Do you have a demo with 2 colours?
hi! first of all thank you for taking the time and effort for such a comprehensive tutorial. I'm used to working with diagrams for them granny squares, do you happen to have the diagram for this one?
Hiya.. thanks glad you like the video, sorry not at this time. But I will add to the list. Thanks for watching. :)
Can you possibly do this square with no holes in a rectangle Thank you very much loving your tutorials
