So happy to see / hear the Hilo Jazz Orchestra play a Zappa tribute show again. This music is so difficult to even attempt, so kudos to the whole ensemble for pulling it off. Great to see some of the alumni back to help out! Congratulations Professor T!
Awful!! I've watched all their Zappa tribute concerts that have been on RUclips since they started and this was by far the worst one ever. Whoever thought that trombone player should be part of the band, playing random notes, random tempos, and random melodies with no connection to the music.
Have to disagree with you. The Hilo Jazz Band took a serious continuity hit because of Covid, and the new members missed out on playing with the seasoned musicians. I think this is an awesome return with a 90% new ensemble (I count 4 alumni - trumpet, guitar, sax and EWI). Far from awful IMHO.
