Quartz watches are great watches. I love this Bulova watch. They really get over looked and make great watches for the common man and watch enthusiasts who aren't snobs
I wish the second-hand swept as some precisionist watches do (I believe), but it is a fine piece. And your move to only three watches - even if you were to "creep" upwards again in number - is admirable.
Yes!! I've literally just said that same thing in another comment. If they did....this would be a total game changer. Thanks, it was difficult but it really has been beneficial for many reasons.
I have to say, this watch seems to be quite appealing! I wanted a Bulova to accompany my Accutron DNA and I may go with the Curv over the Lunar Pilot now. The 12hr Chronograph is more useful too since I have need for timing things up to 3hrs.
Thank you very much for this honest review. I really think that the strap is the weakest point on this watch. I wish it would be linked on the lugs by a pin to be more flexible. But I do really love the open case back. I do like quarz watches and I wish more manufacturer would show their quarz movement without any shame. The only others I know who show the quarz movement are Grand Seiko and Bruno Söhnle.
I have the titanium curve ,mines about a year and a half old and has kept great, i did replace the battery however it got water tested (sunk in water) after the new battery was fitted and it was fine, they are sealed with a small rubber o,ring so still going strong
Thanks for this video, Simon. Great attention to detail. I have this exact same watch and love it, but it has been sitting in my drawer for most of the past year. I've been wearing easier to read heavy lume or tritium watches for casual wear as this is dressy. But, you've inspired me so I'm going to rotate it on wrist next week. 😊
So I wore it this week. Looked beautiful on wrist and only +2 seconds after all this time. The rubber strap is a bit stiff and catches the sleeve, and the clasp is a little jiggly to click securely, however, very nice to see and the curved case fits nicely. Excellent with short sleeves! I'll wear it more often now. Thanks again! 😊
Love this watch, been trying to find it for a bargain price but its hard. Only minor thing is I wish the watch had a large second for the chrono function and keep the subdial at 6 for running seconds but thats just a weird specific thing i'd like, still want to own this piece.
I wish it had the sweeping hand like some of the other bulova models I've had. That would be a winning design in my book. Add 200m water resistance and I'd have a 1 watch collection. Bulova are close to something great with this piece!
Yeah, I watched the guy claiming these were fake, but he didn't seem truthful or credible, and besides, nobody is going to fake a sub-thousand dollar watch, so this fellow never really got any traction and he's forgotten. I just ordered one.
Hi Simon, great video, even in 720p :) I'm on the fence with this titanium curv, only issue is that I usually keep myself away from anything gold or golden colored. Now, what do you think, in real life, those hands and markers, do they have ishgold or rather copper look? Thanks!
Do you know how to replace the strap? I own the one with leather straps and a butterfly clasp/buckle. The buttons on the clasp/buckle really hurt my wrist. I wanna change the straps with regular buckle like yours.
Sorry I am not sure, I sold the watch a while ago and I forget how the strap was put together. It should be possible to take it off somehow (screws maybe?). Good luck sir!
Mine is on the way so all good to know. This has got to be unfakeable. I don't believe it is possible. I considered other colourways and the bracelet models but this is from the first run. When there were only two of this particular design, the titanium and the steel with blue accents. The titanium is the daddy, so it had to be that. It will make 15 in the collection, so I don't know what I'm doing, really, but I'd admired them since 2016 and depreciation brought a second hand one down to where I absolutely could not resist. Not long since bought a Chr. Ward C60 sapphire, too, last Black Friday. This watch appreciation business must be driving me nuts.
My dad has offered to buy each of us sons a watch for under or around £500 and this is the only watch I have taken a shining to! I just wish they had a leather strap or stainless strap for this model. Do you know how to contact Bulova for replacements?
@@JohnwFOC thank you. I managed to work out that they do stock a black leather replacement but only ship it out to replace the gold coloured option as it has a gold buckle on it. Probably easy to swap over. The black leather was also a cheaper replacement part than the other straps as well. In the end I bought a Seiko Alpinist with cream/gold face and green strap. I absolutely love it
@@JohnwFOC I actually got the SPB123 alpinist, the newer version with the Cyclops (not everyone's cup of tea) but I love it! Especially that cream dial 🤤
The only problem i see with this watch ironicly is the fit , unless you put it on very tight it never seems to sit flush on the wrist because of the lugs and strap
In typical fashion, I recorded in 4k but recorded upside down. RUclips doesn't let you flip videos anymore, so I had to re-upload in 720p. Sorry

Hi, did you replace the battery yourself?

Great video! Just subscribed 👍

I've not got the watch anymore but I'd say it's more gold than copper
@@simonthewatchguy6073 happy owner since January, gold is so subtle it is not an issue :)
where do you buy the strap for Bulova Curv - 98A185 ?
Direct from Citizen
Enjoyed the video, thx man, going to buy a blue one
Thanks, enjoy it!!
Just bought the blue with silver stainless steel. Gorgeous
No seconds hand ?

Haha you've came to the right place for watch obsessed folk. Hope you enjoy the watch - I'm certain you will.

They do have a leather strap version, it's the: 97A143 model. You have to go via Citizen support as Bulova are owned by Citizen.
They have two models of this type in leather like Simon said, 98A232(Blue) & 98A231(Brown) and the new 2021’s 98A264(Brown)

Do you know the battery replacement number?
I don't sorry, I no longer have the watch
I have the rosegold ❤
my strap broke and can't even find a replacement -- strap is horrible
Could you provide a link to where i can get another strap?
If you go to the bulova website and scroll to the bottom, look for their customer services link. From there you can email them and order a strap :)
