Nice one Trev. I know the camera gives a restricted field of view, but around 23:40 and 25:30 I was wondering what your "glide clear" options would have been had the donkey stopped? I'm a firm believer in Murphy's Law, if something can go wrong, it will...eventually, and at the worst possible moment!

Nice. I’ve no transponder, only running ADSB so doubt I’d get away with something like that.

Nice one Trev! A busy airfield. I haven’t made it in there, though I have passed close to the east of it when routing from Darley Moor down to Popham - just before losing all my electrics a few miles south of Bromsgrove (Stoney Lane). Fortunately I had a backup nav option and was able to complete my journey ‘non-radio’. Your crossing of Birmingham was impressive. I’m usually heading north -south (or vice versa) so no real reason (excuse) to transit the Birmingham Zone (yet). Maybe I’ll arrange to route via Ha’penny Green next time I’m heading down to Deenethorpe 😊

I couldn't put it better than @juleesadventures7925...; it would frighten the life out of me up there but you seem so relaxed and thorough about it all. I did wonder how you understand some of the radio transmissions, then you mentioned it. Excellent, another fascinating and informative video, cheers Trev 👍

    Well done Trev!
As a GA pilot it’s easy to stay in your comfort zone as there’s enough to contend with already. But when you do venture outside… such as your EGBB zone crossing, it’s really rewarding, as you point out.
It also makes for a great vid 👌👍

Trev, loved this one for a few reasons. a) HG is my home training airfield, b) BZDS (Nordo) is the Quantum I trained in, c) JS that took off on 28 was my instructor and d) having recently passed my FRTOL and only so far having managed a Basic Service from RAF Shawbury, this has gee'ed me up to try for a zone transit in the not too distant. Felt like I was in the circuit with you! Nice one 🙂

Terrific video Trev. Heart stopping moments. I think the radio traffic is difficult to understand and you have to be on the ball with your directions and where to go. Many thanks

Another Informative video ( Without annoying music) I listened intently to the radio messages as I too think they talk too fast to pick up vital info. Im sure I just need more experience.
You keep posting, I’ll keep watching.

Loved watching the video Trev, especially as it was continuous.
Would have been a bonus catching something landing or taking off at Birmingham.
    Maybe next time.
I would like to ask you if you get nervous flying over such a built-up area. There didn't seem to be many landing options down there.
That would have phased me more than transiting airspace, I think.
    Anyway, it's a great video.
    Thank you. Jon

ha ha plenty of chimney tops to land on with an engine out. Must admit in my very limited radio use trying to fly in turbulence and remember info with bad reception I found it too stressful.

Thanks for the interesting flight 🙂 im curious, does your aircraft have an onboard transponder or do you have that feature in your portable. Also do you use ATS-B at all. Would like to watch for you on the trafic maps.
I think clarity will get better if they ever go digital, its been a long time but I thought the plan was for everyone to go to ACARS / ATS.
    Thanks again 🙂

You can file a flight plan but you don't have too. Even if you file a flight plan you still have to call them up on the radio. 👍

Well I see I'm #80 for likes. How about that.? Good morning Trev from down here in Nz. Looks an ok day, from where I'm sitting. Hey just thinking, if you ever want to broaden your horizons, you can't go wrong coming down our way. A lot of airfields are on private sheep stations, but made available to private pilots like you. One or two are shared by the local gliding clubs. You can imagine what the thermals are like in those locations.!! Unknown factor, I can't help you with info on landing fees, if any. Anyway, thanks for sharing mate. As usual, great visuals. Take care and all the very best from down here in Nz.

I think they asked you to hold on the way in. What would have happened if you had reached the airport while you were in holding? Would you have done a circuit or something similar? Non pilot here obvs!

    • @trev.lee.adventure
      @trev.lee.adventure  День назад

Yes. Holding is orbiting or circling. I have been asked to prepare to orbit over the NEC before and then given clearance to cross

As usual another great video. One minor gripe though , it's pronounced Ha'penny Green, not Halfpenny. ( I used to fly gliders out of nearby Cosford before the club moved to Shawbury three years ago).
