I've been suscribed to you for a long long time and recently I've not been getting vids come up in my feed all too much. Super annoying but yeah that's never happened to me before. Awesome content brother!
Wow, these Sleepers are really powerful. I agree with most picks and think some have the potential to be the best cards in the set (like Gleaming Geardrake). I'm very skeptical about the top two picks and Conspiracy Unraveler, but was shocked that the other cards seem to fly under most radars.
I like Call a Surprise Witness, Novince Inspector, Reasomable Doubt, Steamscore Scholar, Clandestine Meddler, Massacre Girl, Known Killer, and Krenko, Baron of Tin Street just to name a few. There are some more mythics that I like but did not list. Thank you for the video.
I think you are seriously under-valuing Curse of the Crimson Pulse. That card looks so good I'm tempted to call it the most powerful card in the set. And a completely unrelated point, but regarding cards like our Topiary and Goat friends... I think it's fair to evaluate cards based on upcoming rotations too. Especially so if a rotation is imminent. Goat may not see mono-red play *now*, sure. But in a world in which KFK, Phoenix Chick and others have rotated out, it could very well be a replacement for something rotating out. The same goes for any card that could fit in a deck that is reliant on soon-to-rotate cards. Stomper will leave Standard this year, so I think its fair to see its Topiary counterpart as a potential replacement when that happens. I don't think card evaluations have to be about NOW, or the Standard format they will enter into, but that instead, we can look at their potential into the foreseeable future, based on what we know right now.
So idk in what format it would be doable but the conspiracy unraveler could probably do well with a deck full of cycle spells. You keep cycling cards to get more lands and draw into the unraveler then once it is out you use those usually expensive cycle spells in your GY to cast whatever cards remain in your hand.... And profit?
If im not mistaken case of the crimson pulse is the strongest card in this set and should make burn in pioneer viable again Especially now we got lightning helix aswell.
I’m gonna use Officious Interrogations in an Esper control deck that has Persuasive Interrogators and Bartòlome del Presidio so I can instant speed create and sac a bunch of clue tokens to poison the opponent to death
the first vampire card triggers 'leaves the graveyard stuff' and the the Topiary landcycler is Evidence 6 after you cycle it Case of the Filched Falcon on T1 into the UR Drake covered immediately before it allows you to hold up mana on T3 and then crack the case (pun intended) targeting either of the Clues you got for playing this line, if you don't end up casting something else (your opponent didn't cast something worth countering or removing), meanwhile it rattlesnakes their combat that turn. If you don't get the Drake by T2 then you have the option of just cracking the clue from the Case to dig towards one of your game plans. Smoothing out the miss case on intended synergies in your deck is a great thing for a one-drop to have in the case of mediocre keeps either before or especially after mulligans. Fwiw the Case is also T1 play that would turn on the Artifact&Enchantment 'balance' check on the Kamigawa Neon Dynasty cards with that mechanic. (or it turns it back on for a single mana in the event that you ever voluntarily or involuntarily lose it) Case of the Crimson Pulse provides Evidence fuel if you want to do that with it. I want to play Scene of the Crime in some kind of Splendid Reclamation/Worldshaper/Crucible effect deck with or without Life from the Loam depending on what the format and budget constraints are. (also perhaps with an additional land drop effect since I'm either drawing extra cards all the time to naturally hit more lands or looping Life from the Loam) If it's also a Worm Harvest deck, then those tokens will make sure it always taps for colored mana if that's relevant. But depending on the tempo of whether you're regrowing it before or after cracking it each turn, it can potentially just untap for turn and then tap for colorless to help crack itself. Officious Interrogation looks like fun in a casual Esper Marionette Master deck. If you play Fabricate guys at all, then you can make more creatures in matchups where your opponent isn't playing many. (Of course I am probably also playing Thousand Moon Smithy in at least on build version of that deck. Particularly since I'm disincentivized to play Wedding Announcement because it has no artifact synergies. If I'm spending slots and tempo on making a bunch of Clues instead of 1/1s , Smithy does a great job of still leveraging those into board presence, and will cover me quite well in games where I decided to make the tokens with Marionette Master's Fabricate; since Marionette won't have 4 power itself, it's good that Smithy will start making me bodies of at least that size to close with that way. Swinging in with the Smithy tokens and them backing them up with Marionette as reach has more oomph to it than just trying to manually crack all the Clues into Marionette as a solo wincon. That lets me keep the Clues around for value without having to sink mana into them, and allows me to leverage both parts of Marionette in the same line of play rather than focusing on one or the other) I also enjoy seeing new takes on the blue 3/2 unblockable creature every iteration, as Dev said he does. This one in Cloak is indeed pretty nice for being repeatable, coming with its own protective ability to bolster with Shore Up (waste opponent's mana on Ward, speed up the clock with the +1/+1), and contributing to cardflow since you hav le the option to face-up creatures that you hit in case you want their effects (as long as you avoid building to rely on ETBs), and it even triggers Artifact synergies if you want that theme for the rest of the deck. Illuminator Virtuouso would wear the Cloak very well if you could fit the Cloak into that deck shell to supplement Security Bypass while also helping with the protection imperative. It's going to be a matter of whether you can pack enough scry into the list to guarantee that you hit the Virtuoso off the top with the Cloak. If it's done with Surveil, then the Disturb double striker you can run for redundancy get better, and you can also bin Homestead Courage that way. If all else fails, and you lose your Virtuoso, then the Cloak does still grab any card into play so you can try to finish off the opponent, and coming with Ward helps if you find yourself needing to recur the Cloak for five whole mana, as well as really putting the screws into the opponent when they try to answer your Shore Up with a second removal spell. If you have Shore Up rather than Slip Out the Back, Cloak gives you something to do after Sunfall if you don't have a backup Virtuoso.
so what you're saying is i can put leering onlooker down, put down an insidious roots and then after it dies i can bring back two 1/1 tokens with flying, create a 1/2 plant, put counters on any other plant i already have, and now have 3 more mana than i did?
Not a mono red player myself but think that could have been number 1. Giving the red player the ability to get cards every turn just because their hand is empty is pretty crazy.
This top ten sleepers where most of the cards are pretty low power level kind of proves that this is a powered down set. I like the theme and I dont necessarily think this is a bad thing as its been creeping up for quite a while...but these cards are more unlikely to show up than normal sleepers.
to be fair your sleepers are usually fire, i just dont think the set is that good on the whole. dont get me wrong im excited about the archdruid charm and the mole god- but investigate as a mechanic has never had me excited when there are parallels that just out right draw the card instead of acting like a tax broker. pay mana for a thing- then pay mana to use the thing- no thank you. even the free clue you were so sure would be good only has one niche case use that i dont think is terrible- and that is with the enchantment that returns a land to the battlefield tapped so every other turn you get an additional card off that. maybe in limited you get your cake- but its so slow it is cold unplayable in any format that im excited to shuffle up. disguise and cloak has me sad too- i loved morph but this version of them cant really be played alongside them without your opponent knowing exactly what you have- it killed the whole purpose of the mechanic. i do think giving them ward is better- but actually having an ability breaks some of the design space you could use to leverage them ... might have been better to eratta the whole mechanic so they keep their ambiguity. that really does tilt me a bit i might need to give it a break then come back in a decade when it doesnt bother me so much.
If i wanted a magic jambalaya.... def. not from innistrad. yoooo Kaladesh. It's indian... inspired. wait also new cappena seems like they'd have some people takin cusine seriously
Dev flickered himself at the beginning of the video
I was thinking the same thing.
Yes but the question is what is this Lengendary Human Warriors E.T.B....Let's make it a good one😁🤔🤔🤔
It occurs to me that Case of the Filched Falcon also instantly enables any of those Kamigawa cards that want you to have an artifact and enchantment.
Also vehicles are non creature artifacts
"Filched" having such close proximity to "Felched" is discomforting to me as well Dev 😂
love your preview content dev. your enthusiasm and attitude are contagious
If you make infinite blue mana you can put your whole deck face-down with Cryptic Coat.
Always good to see your favorite thing to make each season 💜
Neighborhood Guardian is good with "Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon" because it triggers each one of the gnomes entering
Thank you 🥺💜 I needed that. 0:01
I’ve been playtesting “Snarling Gorehound” in my Yarok Homebrew - it’s going to be a great new tool for graveyard & small dudes strategies imo!
A list and content provider to not fall asleep to. Excellent picks Dev! 👌🏻
I've been suscribed to you for a long long time and recently I've not been getting vids come up in my feed all too much. Super annoying but yeah that's never happened to me before. Awesome content brother!
I saw instant value in leering onlooker for my kaya explore deck. Can’t wait for this to drop 🎉

Definitely going to be trying out Cryptic Coat in my Saheeli, The Sun's Brilliance pile.
I think the unicorn will definitely be fun in some kind of U/W flash deck with Errant and Giada etc
Mono red case will be fun to run with flame of keld, which has always been my favorite way to play mono red decks for funs sake
5:42 - Putting stuff on the bottom of the library is an important (but niche) use of the card when your opponent is playing River Song.
I enjoyed this video, I didnt even know this was a set... I though it was a secret new gimmick. this helped me learn the set.
Cheers for the video Dev!
My favourite video every preview season!
Gleaming Geardrake will go nice with Dragonspark Reactor.
Turn 1 Case of the Fitched Falcon, turn 2 Gleaming Geardrake, turn 3 profit

Would love to see you quickly review your last top 10 sleepers at the start of the video.
Yay! Thanks for being proud of me :)
You can also target yourself and the enemy with the interrogation if you have a decent board and the mana
Looking forward to pre-release
If im not mistaken case of the crimson pulse is the strongest card in this set and should make burn in pioneer viable again Especially now we got lightning helix aswell.
As always, great vid dev. Just wanted to comment to FEED THE ALGORITHM

With you on the GOAT goat!
Not a mono red player myself but think that could have been number 1. Giving the red player the ability to get cards every turn just because their hand is empty is pretty crazy.
Agreed. Most games I lose as mono red are simply because I've run out of threats.
The EDH dream: Officious Interrogation opponents endstep and on your turn cast Cyberdrive Awakener or Rise and Shine for a blow out turn :P
Hoping to pull some of these cards for my prerelease pool.
I could not handle all those leering puns EPICLOLZ
Gleaming geardrake + officious interrogation ..❤
Sudden Setback is even better than some counters because it doesn't counter that spell!
"Filched seems like the dirtiest word in any language" 😂😂😂
Topiary panther could have a home in domain after trilands rotate… but he’s really here for collecting evidence
14:55 How does the falcon case make a 4/3? Am I dumb?
No Dev, we're proud of YOU.
Gleaming geardrake reminds me a bit of faerie dragon if you squint real hard
This top ten sleepers where most of the cards are pretty low power level kind of proves that this is a powered down set. I like the theme and I dont necessarily think this is a bad thing as its been creeping up for quite a while...but these cards are more unlikely to show up than normal sleepers.
Love these sleepers! though some of them are not really sleepers. Or I just watch way too much RUclips
He said he was proud 😊
chrono trigger intro maked me subscrive imediately
Case of the Crimson Pulse, solved, against a mass creature bounce effect. DOH!
Sudden Setback reminds me a lot of Endless Detour.
I wonder if Case of the Crimson Pulse will be tried on phoenix decks.
Question about cloaking ability: when I'm going to cloak the top deck, am I allowed to see the card I'm going to cloak or not?
I really wanna play the izzet artifact goblins ^~^
Curse of crimson pulse has izzet combo written alk over it 😎
Anyone notice he's missing his green mana picture frame
What happened to the Green mana symbol?? 🌲
flicker elephant is very very good looking
Couldn’t you put the 4 counters onto a vehicle and have a flying car that can be crewed to be bigger?
You my spirit animal dev
Wake up honey, there's new Dev from The Place
about officious investigation.... remember, there's a fairly good Monastery Mentor azorius deck in standard......
I need the scapegoat as an arena pet
Aye late night dev post
Fun!.... 10 is a nice round number.
Slime Against Humanity tho, I’m gonna brew so hard with it 😂
Why not play scapegoat alongside swift spear and Kakazan. Boatload of one drops makes it easier for goddrick to actually become a dragon
Missed a good goat joke when talking about frantic scapegoat, when you said that’s bad you should have exaggerated baaad more
I want a longer intro of the rap song !!!!!!!!!!!!!
ayyy lesss gooooo

Where is the green mana symbol in the back drop? Are you secretly a hater of green? Or are you open about it and I just didn't realize until now..
Awaken the Woods and forest dude?
That Drake is gonna be mean
Comment for the algorithm gods.
I’m still so bummed teysa is dead
