Maybe I just don't mind trying things to see if they'll work. I do a lot of experiments. Sometimes I think it's a good think I didn't become an engineer, like my high school teachers though I should - you don't want to say "oops" after the bridge has been half built. But with art, it doesn't matter. Even if you have to start over, you can just call the first one 'practice.' 😊
Jonni, you are an absolute gem! Not only are you incredibly talented, but you have the sweetest, most cheerful voice and way of explaining the project. I wish I could personally visit you and make art together! Thank you for being so wonderful! ❤
Whoa! Idk how I missed this one but it auto played and I immediately thought “Whoa, that’s so cool!” Amazing work. Everything you do is, but this one really blew me away.
Incredible! The painted finish is so effective and complex! It's wonderful that you are sharing these techniques. There are so many people who need a creative outlet, and we think artists of any age and level of ability could try this (maybe with a substitute varnish for young folks or people with health issues). What we're seeing in this video sets the bar pretty high, but in our experience, everyone can surprise themselves with what they can achieve in art!
Very kind words, indeed. The painting on this project was actually really easy - just some transparent black that was dabbed with a dry paper towel. Anyone could do it - and it's fun! :)
I cannot wait to make this! I think I might work on getting the pattern pieces prepared while I am recuperating from a knee replacement. I cannot tell you how happy my 7 year old dinosaur loving grandson is. 😊❤️
Has he seen the photos? If he loves dinosaurs as much as I suspect he does, he probably knows a lot more about them than I do - but I really tried to get the shapes right so he'd be happy with it. I really wanted to get it done before Halloween, but it will be a good project for you while you're recuperating. I hope you'll show us how it turns out. 😊 And remember to not overdo while you're recovering from that knee replacement.
He’s watched your videos before, as well as is twin sister has, and I know he’ll love this one. He’s seven and has not really done a lot of research on his own. He’s caught between being a little boy and a “big” boy with them. He just showed me a dinosaur (think Jack) in a box that he wants. 😊 I will have very good after surgery care and I definitely will take it easy, thank you. ❤️
Thanks! I wasn't sure what color I should use for those eyes, so I called my daughter. She said yellow, and I think she was definitely right. It's handy to have a professional painter in the family. 😃
Happiest 2023 to you, Jonni, and fellow YTber fans! You have made my day! Love that your crafts involve not only tips and tricks, but some educational tidbits as well. Feathers or scales, lips or not, He is an adorable conversation starter! Thank you for sharing with us. 🌟🎈🎆 The washer is terrificle!
Thanks - this one took awhile, but it was a lot of fun. At this time of year I always get in the mood to learn something new. A few years ago it was Tunisian crochet, and this year it was dinosaurs. 😊
It is beautiful! And perfect! You are so talented! How you manage to figure all that out is beyond me lol. Thank you for sharing another gorgeous piece!!
I love this so much! I'd love to see how much fun you'd have making a fuzz-feathered version. Birds come in so many exotic colors and patterns, I can imagine quail colors with a blue or maroon face; or even like a bald eagle or a hawk. But that aside, you are incredibly talented and I am inspired to try paper mache thanks to you. Liked and subbed
The cereal box cardboard doesn't usually warp, but if you notice that it's drying slightly lopsided, you can put it over a bowl or oatmeal box - something that will let the air reach all sides.
Hi Jonni, can you tell me how you built the pattern for the 3-d cardboard base? Did you use special software? I cant find a pattern that I need for a piñata my daughter wants for her bday party, so it looks like I'm going to have to design it (if I can). Any advice or tips would be really helpful, I really admire your quality work! Thank you 😊
My patterns take two to four weeks to create, and the process is quite involved. It's really not an efficient way to make something when you only need one. Did you do a search on etsy.com for a papercraft pattern in the design you're looking for? They have a lot of different designs, and one of them might work for you.
@UltimatePaperMache thank you, I did search etsy and was unable to find what I needed. I also searched creative fabrica too. I understand what you mean about your process, I have a similar way when engineering original designs. Well, it was worth a shot to ask. Thank you so much for your time!
No roasted chicken, but there is a guest post on my website for a roasted turkey. Is that close enough? You can see it here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/theater-props-made-with-paper-mache-clay
Hi Ma’am!! I have been learning a lot from your Channel!! Thank you a lot! Would be possible to sculpt a baby doll paper marche with a cloth body or at least the face(head)!!? Id really appreciate!!
I've made a lot of baby animal dolls with paper mache heads and cloth bodies. I think there are many old dolls made that way, too. I found a new way to make them that isn't paper mache - it uses plaster cloth and air dry clay - but there's no reason to not use paper mache instead. If you'd like to see how I make my baby animal dolls, I have a video here: ruclips.net/video/aTRjfrDi_Ec/видео.html Or do a search on RUclips for paper mache dolls - I'm sure someone has some videos about it.
Oh Jonni how can you say you are not a painter. You are so talented, your creatures are so realistic. Bravo!

I love the teeth. It looks great. For some reason I am thinking of a grey color. 😃😃😃😃
Yes, that would be really nice!

Wow.. i love the finished product.. the colour of the eyes are perfect. Great job.

He would be lovely with feathers - but I don't think I have the patience for a project like that. If you make one, be sure to let us know! 😊
What do you recommend I do to prevent this kind of pattern from warping when I put the paper strips and paste on?
The cereal box cardboard doesn't usually warp, but if you notice that it's drying slightly lopsided, you can put it over a bowl or oatmeal box - something that will let the air reach all sides.
I was recently thinking I should make a T-Rex head. I'd either want to do a bare skull version or one with feathers.
Jonni!! so nice to see your videos! awesome work as always, I was just looking for dinosaurs masks for halloween
