Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. My house is older so the tips on getting the sides to line up properly were great. Also, your advice about using the laser level, allowing for uneven plaster board and not sitting recessed dado railing flush to paneling is invaluable. I've watched heaps of these panel installation videos and yours is by far the most professional.
WOW! fantastic job! watching your videos gives me motivation to do some DIY work at home, even if what you do is professional :)... accept a hug from Lisbon, Portugal, EU, on the other side of the planet ;)
@@dingeldiy Replacing the washbasin in the bathroom, painting the cupboard doors and kitchen drawers... not much, but there's never a shortage of projects at home :)
you can leave a very small gap approx 2mm to allow for movement that can be filled. The MDF product I used is quite stable and it didn't occur to me to mention it in the video. Thanks for your question!
Looks good, just wondering what you did to get the skirts to end up more or less flush with the architraves when they're sitting in front of the panels?
The video doesn't show it well but 2 things are happening here 1. The old architraves are thicker than most modern architraves (old are 25mm and new are 19mm thick) 2. In the areas where the skirting was proud of the architrave I chamfered the edge of the skirting at a 45 degree angle to help it "roll" into the architrave hope this helps, thanks for watching!
I use pva for delicate wood on wood applications but in this case I used liquid nails for gluing wood to plaster. It's also great for gluing wood to wood but mostly for structural stuff
Try searching for dado or "chair" rail online. I know Bunnings doesn't really sell ones with a rebate in them. The dado rails unused were purchased from Australianmoulding.com.au

Hi, did you leave a gap between the board & the architraves? Or is a gap not needed. Thanks 😊

@@dingeldiy Thanks!
Hey great tutorial, just wondering what glue you used for the rail? PVA woodglue? thanks.

Hi, what dado rail do you use please as all I can find has a flush back so sits on top of the panel but then it's not plum. Thanks
