    Hello, i have a question. Is it possbile to generate a passive income (like im having 10k worth of shares and get 10€ per year)?
    # Dividens

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  3 месяца назад +3

      Hi Soren 👋,
      Yes, it’s definitely possible to generate passive income through dividends if you own shares in companies that pay them. However, €10 per year from a €10k investment is quite low. Many dividend stocks offer a yield between 2-5%, so with €10k invested, you could potentially earn €200 to €500 annually, depending on the stock.
      Just make sure you’re picking solid companies with reliable dividend histories, and reinvesting those dividends can help grow your income over time!
      Cheers,
      Kai

    Hi, it seems that in the trading 212 platform you are not the owner of your stocks (is it true?) Also when you have money in your account earning interest, the fund of up to 20 thousand euros and the insurance stop having effect.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Angelina 👋 On Trading 212, you are the beneficial owner of your shares, meaning you have rights to dividends and capital gains, although the shares are registered in Trading 212's name.
      When it comes to earning interest on uninvested cash, Trading 212 places these funds in Qualifying Money Market Funds (QMMFs). However, QMMFs aren’t covered by the usual protections (up to €20,000 from the ICF or £85,000 from the FSCS), nor does the additional insurance apply.
      So, while you’re the beneficial owner of stocks, cash in interest-earning funds lacks the same coverage. Cheers

    • @genzfree
      @genzfree 2 месяца назад

      @@SmartMoneywithKai Hello, why are they not coverd?? QMMFs are shares. It should cover them up to 20000 euro or 85000 pounds if you are from England.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  2 месяца назад

      @@genzfree You're absolutely right that QMMFs are technically investments, and some protections can apply in certain cases. But with Trading 212, funds in QMMFs don’t get the same coverage as cash deposits, so they aren’t backed by FSCS for losses. Instead, these assets are safeguarded separately as "safe custody assets." The FSCS only kicks in if the firm itself fails-not for market risks within the QMMF. It’s a bit frustrating, especially when you’d expect fuller protection on something as low-risk as a money market fund.

      Hi Carlos, I can't tell you the exact spread, but in my case & experience, it's always been very tight and quite close to IBKR, maybe if you trade €20K per trade you would see a bit but for most investors it's negligible. More important is the asset you invest in, if it has high liquidity & trading volume, T212 is going to be a great choice.

I use Revolut and Binance for this, but the commission fee and lack of variety are the things that bother me about Revolut, but the interface is easy for trading. Hi. Thank you for the video! I have the noob question, are there any problems with ETFs if I move between EU countries? What if I bought ETFs from Poland, using a Polish residence permit, and then go to Spain and expand my portfolio there, and then want to withdraw money in Spain, having a Spanish residence permit?

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  7 месяцев назад +3

      Hi 👋
      Great question! Moving between EU countries with ETFs is generally straightforward, but here are a few points to consider:
      Broker Compatibility: Ensure your broker operates in both Poland and Spain. Some brokers might have restrictions or different services in various countries.
      Tax Implications: Each country has its own tax laws. When you move to Spain, you'll be subject to Spanish tax regulations on your investments, which might differ from Poland's.
      Currency Considerations: If your ETFs are in a different currency, be mindful of exchange rates and potential fees when you withdraw money.
      Residency Status: Make sure to update your residency status with your broker to comply with local regulations and ensure smooth transactions.
      It's usually manageable, but always good to check with your broker and possibly consult a tax advisor to understand specific implications.
      Cheers.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  4 месяца назад

      Hi, appreciate your kind words. It’s quite common for trading platforms to ask for your passport as part of their verification process, especially when you're residing in a country different from your citizenship. Since you're based in the Netherlands but hold an Indian passport, it might complicate things a bit. One possible workaround is to check if either platform accepts other forms of ID (like a residence permit or local ID) alongside your passport. You can also reach out to their customer support to explain your situation. They might offer an alternative verification process. Hope that helps. Cheers

    The problem is that what you say about Revolut’s protection level applies to the other brokers you mentioned too. All brokers you mention offer the same 20.000-22.000€ investment protection to EU clients. So, why pick specifically Revolut for this reason?

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  8 месяцев назад

      Hi 👋,
      Well noted 👌 You’re right; the investment protection of around 20,000-22,000€ is pretty standard across many brokers in the EU. When deciding on a broker, this level of protection might not be the sole factor to consider since it’s a common offering.
      Choosing a broker like Revolut or any other should come down to other features they might offer such as user experience, fees, accessibility, types of investments available, and additional services. For me the biggest red flag with Revolut as a broker is the fact that they don't allow portfolio transfers to other brokers, this is too restrictive. But ultimately there is no right or wrong it has to work for each investor. Cheers

      Great question! 💥 When you buy stocks in different currencies, like $ vs €, the main difference is currency risk. If you're buying V on the Deutsche Borse in €, keep an eye on exchange rates as they can affect your investment value. Personally I prefer buying stocks on their native stock exchange to also diversify my currency holdings, but if you prefer to buy in € you absolutely can👌

      @@Europe0008 Agreed and the protection level is not that good. Try Trading 212, even easier, better protection and no fees👌

    I am using XTB .. they have a branch in Romania and we have a law here if you sell your stock after more than a year of holding it you pay just 1% tax when the broker has a local branch :).. Any thoughts on XTB ?

      Hi and thanks for sharing, heard good things about them, will probably do a review video on them very soon but your approach makes perfect sense 👌 Cheers

    Why don't you buy APC instead of AAPL (It is Apple stock but on German exchange, no fx fees, I did this, no fx risk)

      Hi Marko, because I do not want to hold EUR, I prefer investing in USD long-term as I feel it will be the stronger currency, but just my personal opinion 😉 Cheers

    Light year is an awful recommendation. Not safe, not top best at any aspect. The only thing going for it is the design but that’s the least you should care about as an investor.

      Hi Carolina, in what way is it not safe, I’m interested to hear? I keep my own money there since a long time and never had issue. Safety is priority. Nice design is a bonus.

      @@ivocoelho8694 I didn’t get notifications for this thread. Perhaps you should take up investigating in your own hands instead of expecting other people to spoon feed you information. But it basically has to do with legality and hidden fees. I researched light year a while back and it didn’t measure up to the top brokers in terms of safety and fees.
