"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold."
Lord of the Rings is an important franchise. It made so many people childhoods, inspired many stories. I do believe that without these wonderful books and movies, we would not have as many stories around today. The movies are massive, I had to chose what to explore and obviously had to let some stuff behind.
I hope you guys will enjoy it.

One does not simply watch the lord of the rings without liking it
Indeed!
I didn’t like it - I appreciate the cinematography, maybe it was because it watched one movie everyday and they were all so long but I didn’t even like the first one - I feel like an anomaly - I really wanted to like it 😭

We all know April is a sad month since the letter
"For frodo"
It's just such a powerful line. Aragorn doesn't know if frodo is alive or not, but with that line, he shows that whatever has happened, he will always support frodo, that he'll stand by him(for him) forever.
Such a beautiful line.
it also works whether Frodo, at this point, is still alive or not. They either advance to honour his sacrifice, or they work to give him time. It's just great, like all lines in this masterpiece.

It's unfortunate they put the Hobbit through the wringer just to make a much money as possible. What could have been a fun prequel (1 or 2 films max) got dragged out to 3 trying way too hard to be as epic as LOTR. Proportionately, if the Hobbit is 3 films, LOTR needs to be 6-9 films. That's just not reasonable.
I agree. I don’t think anyone will ever replicate their success.
...But there's always a fool's hope.
Geesmack Joeypads Peter Jackson definitely did the best he could. Del Toro was originally the director but he and WB had a falling out. PJ had a mere few weeks of preproduction to prepare and because of Warner Bros interference there were lots of issues

I was in 9th grade when the last movie came out on dvd so that night when everyone else in my family was asleep I stayed awake and watched all three movies and went to school with no sleep. Ended up falling asleep in my second period and teacher woke me up twice and asked “why are you so sleepy?”
“I stayed up and watched all the LOTR last night”
He laughed and let me be that period.
I didn't watch it for 2 years, I had the video staring at me on the shelf and I was like "cartoon was better humph" then I watched it fell sleep 5 min in , but I watched it and I was like wow
They came out before I was born, so I grew up with them. But I forgot about them so it was amazing watching them again now. It was like I was watching the for the first time. They are now my favorite movies
They also came out before I was born-- I grew up being read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, so when I was old enough, and after the first Hobbit movie came out, my dad brought out the extended edition disc sets for LotR and we watched them together. Best thing to ever happen to me.

"In his heart, Frodo begins to understand, the quest will claim his life."
I notice that almost everyone disregards this line in the end because, well he doesn't really die.. does he?
But that's not the point. When you think about it.. once the war was over, once the ring was destroyed and the evil of Sauron along with it.... he went home. But things weren't the same anymore.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't go back to his ways. The wounds from his journey, physically yes, but mostly mentally, hurt too strong. So... he left Middle Earth.. and like Frodo said himself:
"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold."
The quest DID claim his life.

This is what Game of Thrones was trying to be and failed to do so.
splendid job, brother
game of sex you mean
Actually it tried to be the exact opposite. It killed off characters and made a point that they didn't come back, mostly because George R.R. Martin loved the Gandalf died but hated that the book basically removed any cost of his death.
Game of Thrones is about the socially powerful who, on their own, can do very little whereas Lord of the Rings was about legendary one men armies with very little political pull.
Most importantly though Game of Thrones is about the shades of grey that mankind creates to fuel our own petty wars whereas Lord of the Rings is about how some things are inherently evil and some things are inherintly good and how people overcome that evil.
Game of Thrones is a political drama, Lord of the Rings is an adventure.
The two are, purposefully, totally different.

Agree. The only gripe I have with LOTR movies is the scene of Aragorn with the ships. It should have been like in the books. Not with a Ghost army but with the people of the southern feuds of Gondor Aragorn had just liberated. Putting the ghost army just lessened the impact of the battle.

I have yet to find a movie trilogy or any trilogy for that matter that evokes the same feelings as that of the lord of the rings. The feeling of longing and nostalgia for a place I have never visited and people I have never met. And yet somehow I feel as though I have been to middle earth and that I too have traveled with the fellowship. They leave me with a desire to fight for good and peace in the world, to never give up, and to have my own adventures. They have inspired me to believe in hope, perseverance, friendship, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. Rewatching these movies a few days ago made me realize how much nostalgia I had towards them. This truly is one of the best franchise, if not the best, and without a doubt the most epic one. I feel like other ones, as well as TV Shows, have tried through the years to recreate what LOTR did, but failed. This shows everything that there is to admire about Lord Of The Rings. If everyone were a bit more like Sam the world would be a more peaceful place
Not only Sam but like aragon frodo and most of all gandalf
Sam is the friend I can only wish to be.
A thought or two, for what it’s worth: Tolkien’s vision includes the dark things as well, and our world wouldn’t be complete without them. Why? It is only in the presence of the dark things that we learn who we truly are and for what our hearts ultimately yearn. This is because in the presence of the dark things, humanity is forced to make a choice about who and what they will follow eternally. We must have that purgative journey to become Children of the Light. In life, then, our purpose is the journey; how each of us defines ourself when faced with “the dark Lords” of this world. That is why in Christian thought, although Evil has been ultimately conquered, it still remains here in this existence. God uses it to bring about the Good.
"My friends, you bow to no one."
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us" - good quote for those who is lost.

I feel bad for the kids today. In my preteens and early teens me, my brother and many of my friends watched this trilogy religiously. The way this series sparked our imagination as boys was great. We all knew the stories inside and out, and would make up our own stories about Middle Earth all the time.
What do the 12 year olds of today have that compares? I wonder if it was just my childhood innocence that made these movies so magical but when I come back and see stuff like this I'm convinced that they just don't make em like they used to...

It's a testimony of how much Lords of the Rings is a masterpiece of visual storytelling in that you can make an 8 minute montage of film series which is like 11 hours long and you still manage to accurately depict the primary story beats of the series as well as some of the emotional ones.
The Lord of the Rings movies are my favorite movies of all time. You did them justice and captured their essence. Thank you.
I'm a big fantasy/star wars fan. Indeed, my favourite stand alone film of all time is The Empire Strikes Back and always will be. Nothing will change this for me, nothing! However, lotr viewed as a single 11hour + movie, which is what it is, is unbeatable. Lucas, cameron, Spielberg and Scott, some of the greats, will never ever better this, or even have the opportunity to try. When we participate in these polls for greatest movie ever, we need to look at these 3 films as a single entity. Lets be honest, this is never ever ever ever! gonna be bested. In terms of budgets, the wonderful scenic settings, the effects, storyline, music score and acting, this should be everyone's fave movie of all time. I watch the extented versions of these, every 2/3 years and never tire of them. What we have here is what's known as perfection.

Few journeys ever end, that are remembered so fondly. Even when bittersweet. The books beloved as a child and the movies beloved also, by my child as well, captured wonderfully here. “For Frodo” such a powerful scene.
The mouth of Sauron has just revealed Frodo’s mithril vest and Aargorn is not certain whether Frodo is dead or alive but it does not matter; “For Frodo” works either way.

Oooh, nice :)
I light from the shadow shall spring, then :)
Literally just watched the trilogy today for the first time, extended editions, it was so good. It was what Game of Thrones wanted to be so bad lol
Great... another Lord of the Rings video I'm going to re-watch over and over again because it made me cry!
2:36 There are always tears in my eyes of these words of King Theoden.
Viggo/Aragorn, most badass because of how much happened to him behind the scenes
The only thing i would say that would make this better is the speech of Theoden before the Ride of the Rohirrim
My mom always cuts onions downstairs when I watch videos like that.
That intro gave me chills
Greatest trilogy of all time period
