@@pat1589 horrible to watch is very unfair. May not be the most elegant and grafter at times, but horrible ? Crowe though was something else, I saw him in a tour game back in 1995 and you could watch him even just defend all day.

I think I all 3 games were played in Cairns, it was in the spring. Williamson couldn't hit the ball off the square. He cost us victory in 1 game with awkwardly slow batting, then cost us another victory with lame captaincy. I find his back foot drive ok, apart from that I'd never ever pay money to watch him bat. I saw Martin Crowe bat 4 times. 2 of those times he got a good score, the other 2 out in the teens. Hes the best batsmen I've ever seen. Brilliant against spin and quicks. Crowe would sweep nathan lyon into oblivion. Crowe, M Waugh and D Gower for me.

Hadlee is currently the greatest NZ cricketer of all time. Only Williamson comes close. But if Williamson can make it to 40 centuries with an average of around 55, Williamson will be amongst the 5 greatest test batters and the mantle will have changed hands.
Revered Hadlee then, and there's not a fast bowler from NZ that is even close. And he was a bona fide all rounder, part of the all time once in generation quartet with Imran Khan, Ian Botham, and Kapil Dev

This is why you have to take the opinions of experts with a grain of salt. The idea of Kane Williamson being as good or even better than Hadlee is just ridiculous. He does not have a good enough record against the top teams and especially away from home: Average against: Australia: 36.95 England: 36.85 India: 37.87 Away averages: Australia: 42.85 England and Wales: 30.53 India: 33.53 South Africa: 21.17 These numbers make it hard to justify Williamson as being even an ATG on a world level whereas Hadlee is unquestionably one on the world stage and while he might not be the bowling GOAT, he is in that conversation. If you take the minnows out of Williamson's record, the results are catastrophic. By minnows, I mean Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe and the visiting third-string South African team earlier this year who might have had only three regulars in it and were missing their frontline bowlers. With the minnows: 100 tests, 8743 runs at 54.99, 32 100s Minus the minnows: 64 tests, 4826 runs at 44.69, 16 100s His average goes down by 18.7% and his number of tons is HALVED! Now Hadlee with the minnows (Sri Lanka): 86 tests, 431 wickets at 22.29, 36 5WI, 9 10WM Minus the minnows: 80 tests, 394 wickets at 23.19, 34 5WI, 8 10WM His average goes up by just 4.0%, his number of 5WI goes down by just 2, from 36 to 34 and his number of 10WM goes down by just 1, from 9 to 8. A test batting average of 44.69 is not THAT impressive but a test bowling average of 23.19 at 4.93 wickets per test is still outstanding.

Hogan and Paddles will forever be NZs greatest for me. Both of their careers were heavily dampened by injuries and it was also a more competitive time for cricket. That's no slight on Kane who is magnificent.

You make it out like he plays them all the time - he’s literally played against them 4 times since 2015 and scored 97 in one of those innings. You fail to mention those 100s were 166 and 140. Hammered in the T20? Mate, no one cares about that form of the game. It's candy for the crowd, and quickly forgotten. Kane scored a century in Brisbane against the Aussies, with Bill Lawry moved enough to say he could become NZ's greatest ever batsman. NZ hardly ever plays Australia so your "he has only scored two centuries against them" argument, is a crock of brown stuff. What a pity this series in NZ is only two tests.
Martin Crowe way better than Williamson. Williamson is terrible to watch at time. Hadlee our greatest Cricketer, the Aussies feared him, they dont fear Williamson.

@@pat1589 KWs scored two hundreds against Australia. Three+ against South Africa, a couple against India and England. His form ATM is top notch and his record is the best going around as well. We'll see just how great he is today against a quality attack.

I agree with what Punter is saying. Skill wise Lara was beyond Sachin. As good as SRT was, he hasn’t won as many tests as Lara single handedly has. If Lara had a team like Indias, he would have had remarkable numbers
