Many people may think just because of the outer appearance that those people in the video are all Taliban fighters. But they're not. They are leaders representing a large and united resistance against the Soviets. The Taliban may be among them, but not alone. It should also be known that Taliban and Al-Qaida are not the same thing. Al-Qaida is blacklisted in the US as a terrorist group, but the Taliban are not. Thus, it is not right to say that the mujahedeen supported by the US against the Soviets were the same extremists responsible for 9/11 and fighting against the Americans until recently. Let's remember that the Soviets invaded many countries, and nobody resisted to them but the Afghans. The Soviet Union could even survive if they didn't fight and weakened it for so many years, and no Eastern Europe would be part of NATO today. It's thus true what President Reagan told them: "You are a nation of heroes!" Although they may have many inner issues related to extremism and poverty, the Afghan people deserve respect.

@Minh Hùng Nguyễn Phạm There were a lot of bad choices made between the time Reagan and 2021 so to pin the blame all on him is ridiculous. And the absolute worst choice was GWB's choice to let Bin Laden go at Tora Bora in Dec 2001. That gave the Taliban the idea that the US wasn't really committed, even after 3,000 Americans had just been killed in New York and Washington, and that the way might one day open for them to come back. And that moment was the beginning of the end of the US as the world's sole superpower.
Very strange and ridiculous.united state had supported these people against the Soviet Union and they were called the freedom fighters but after 9/11 the Bush administration called them the terrorist why because they did not want to see Afghanistan under the rule of Taliban.this is hypocracy and double standard.

Now i have seen the face of the True Evil! may he rot in hell.
Reagan? Fuck yeah
@Based Eagle Absolutely but Reagan did more harm then good to the US. He introduced trickle down economics which impacted the middle class of the country negatively and his terrible war on drugs...
Brezhnev, the leader of the Soviet Union in 1979, is not responsible for the war, but Reagan that gave arms to insurgents fight a foreign invader is the devil?
Nice "logic".
Who is the translator of yunis khalis in english his name ?
History repeats again. But now(2021) the US embraces same fate( destiny) as Soviet in1989. The US invaded and forcibly occupied Afghanistan in October, 2021.
As a young Afghan, I am utterly embarrassed and humiliated to see this. that old sod, is death, he was waffling about Holy war and Islamic values, his son is now married to one of Afghanistan prominent bitch singer called Naghma and is living in the country where not only American army is there but at least 20 other nations army is present. yet his father was not accepting ONLY Soviet Union.. that is how hypocrite those Afghan Mujahidin were, and as far as US is concerned US has NOT only occupied but also installed a puppet too.
Younis khalis later became part of the Taliban. His son then fought americans
translator it's not translating every word he didn’t translate the best part of the speech of this old man.
Hi
I come from the future exactly from 2019
Your decision gonna make afghanistan a terrorist field and people gonna suffer a lot plz don't do it
Oh but they knew it this is a well calculated move by the high ranking freemasons
Hi
I come from the future exactly from 2021
His decision finally ended up in FUBAR
Hey its 1st Sept of 2021.....These Mujahideen kicked US out and Captured bunch of fancy weapons
Translator is Zalmy Khalil Zad
America made a mistake that he started the war with Afghanistan but America needed to make good relationship with our Afghanistan, so the both countries now have the power around and also will had peace but they seen Afghanistan with poor state and now these Afghan shows that is impossible to suffer. Afghan people need peace
The most ironic thing is that this video has been uploaded by an official channel of Ronald Reagan
Well how we should know that the afghan people are such cowards who let the radicals take over?
@@linusschmutz3985 The radicals who also fought in that war. Do not forget that Bin Laden was prepared for the CIA. It is obvious that USA helped afghan people just because they were against soviet invasion, no matter the religious issue.
@@Akonmj93 Bin Laden was Saudi and he hated it that US Troops were stationated in Saudi Arabia because of the second Gulf War. That was a crusade for him. He saw the sauds as traitors of islam. So he switched the sides and found allies in Afghanistan.
@@linusschmutz3985 I know that part of the storie too. But it is clear fact that USA taught Bin Laden how to be a terrorist
I would like to clarify that the guy representing here (Resistance Leader) is no Taliban, there were no taliban at that time, but the Mujahideens and the resistance fighters who were to be disarmed and assimilated back into society but it didn't last. Soon after the Soviets were gone, USA installed an incompetent Government and that led to start of Talibans and insurgency and the rest is history.
Who’s watching it in 31 aug 2021
the wages of sin is death.
Khalilzad is not a professional translator but he is doing a great job
Supported the crooks against the soviets and now Afghanistan is a hell. Oncle Sam made the world wide export of wahabism possible .
Translation is wrong or deliberately wrong maybe
Our involvement with Afghanistan in the 80s was all about getting back at the Russians for what they did to us in Vietnam. We didn’t care about their cause or suffering! In the end it was all about destroying the USSR!
That's the thing. Did Vietnam became a problem after the US invasion? Nope. Hell, they even liberated Cambodia from Pol Pot and defeated China as well. Compare that to the US funding an extremist ideology which has been a plague around the world.
Yes absolutely correct. The same principle applies to the current conflict in Ukraine!
May Reagan Rest in Eternal Peace🙏❤
In hell
Wow, a superb clip. Reagan was very dignified and a respectful host. Khalilzad as the translator is also appearing handsome and translating reasonably !
Translation is way off
This is the real picture of USA
Slava rusia
Quit with the sugar coating.
@@news_internationale2035 Looking at your Soviet symbols, I can understand your reaction.
@@edvincami3890 Ahmed Massoud had resisted the Soviets in the 80s and the Taliban in the 90s. The NRF which is the predecessor of the Northern Alliance is still fighting the Taliban to this day. He also received US funding
Afghans are so resilient, courageous, and full of unwavering faith.!!
As if they did it for the afghan people..

that was the most drawn out applause at the beginning haha
The person who’s translated and helping the leader of Afghanistan is a W. Helping the leader who don’t understand English and helping him so that the us could be Allie’s with Afghanistan is so much more than just enemies. 🇺🇸🇦🇫🇵🇰
Khalis baba was a true son of Afghanistan.may allah give him the best place in paradise
US called them Afghan resistance at the time but now they call them terrorists 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yes it is
8:05 is this Zamey Khalilzad ? Present envoy to Afghanistan
Yeah that is him.
Zalmay Zalilzad is the interpretor in red tie.
These were the future talibans smh
@Hissam Ullah These member in the video went on to lay the foundation for them, I should have specified
It's amazing how US opinion can so radically change of you as soon as you stop being a beneficiary or vassal for their political aims.
To all those criticizing Ronald Reagan from a distance of almost 35 years and 17 years after his death at the time of the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in August, 2021 the only thing I have to say is: it seemed like a good idea at the time...
The Taliban flighted a civil war against the Mujahideen and won in 96... How could they knew this 10 years earlier??
The US has reaped the whirlwind of Afganastan.
So you armed and trained and supported these groups of islamists and later on a branch of the same groups became Taliban and another part became Alqaeda and attacked you.
You invaded Afghanistan in response, fought for 20 years, killed 100s of thousands and spent Trillions of USD qnd failed. at the end negotiated with the same Taliban and are now surroundering the country back to them.
Why?
Why?
Why?
I can see Putin & China now having the same conference with the heads of the Taliban….what’s crazy is that Khalizad is still part of these talks…
Yeah he's a bad guy and crook
This didn't age well.
He had a beard like a lion.
Reagan Destroyed USSR ,
Now, that half of the World is in deep Poverty, which would otherwise be supported by USSR.

Zalmay khalilzad played his evil role well.

Very much so yes.
The mujihadeen are different from the Taliban. The Taliban only formed in 1994z

Abu Reagan Al Amriki
Lmao
History always repeats itself in Afghanistan. But the poor nation is the one who is suffering 🤷🏻
Very poor interpretor. He left out all the important things that was said and instead created his own words. Shame on him.
Reagan should have been investigated by the feds for his connections and ties to Osama bin laden and his mujahideen holy warrior Islamic terrorists
Zalmay khalizad is the Afghan Kissinger for Afghanistan
Hes a traitor
he cant even speak Pashto...he is not
