I think it's amazing how you could just lump everything from that era into a giant bucket, say it's from the same line, and no one would even blink. Those stenchoids would fit in perfectly with any Masters of the Universe set, and the Manta and Red Venom would _not_ look out of place in any G.I. JOE collection. Hell, throw M.A.S.K in there for extra credit.
A bog rocket sounds like what you call one of those shites that comes out quick, easy and solid, with a bit of gas behind it to launch it out. A real pleasure for your stench ejector
A stinkhorn is a phallic shaped mushroom; a bog rocket is a euphemism for a poo covered male genitalia. The cigar shaped ship has two big red eggs at one end, while the other end can be opened up to expose an angry red head that shoots goo when enough force is applied. The ship becomes a solid structure when erected upright, and Stinkhorn’s soldiers have big cigar shaped cannons that also shoot goo. I always wondered if the designers gave up caring about subtly because they knew it would be the last Manta ship, or if they were all fired because they made it a huge dick.
I’m afraid we may have reached Peak Gavin. But maybe instead it’s a new era where TRDQ will go ever higher. Only time will tell. All I know is this video had me laughing the entire time, so much that it literally hurt. Ow.
I appreciate that the "stench" is just the same consistency of Play-doh, ensures that you'll never(?) have to mail away nearly 40-year old slime refill order forms and hope for the best
I remember hearing a rough description of this toy in a video made by Ashens about the MANTA Force command ship like 7 years ago. And I always wondered "what the hell is that like?" Now I know. Thanks for being the best Gavin.
I encountered some of the other Manta Force line but none of them ever seemed quite as nicely constructed as the original Manta Force ship. I loved all the little robot and vehicle cockpits to put the little dudes in, and the different colour-coded groups of vehicles and their slots in the ship. Everyone has a place! So neat.
I had this gem of a toy for my 4th birthday/sick from school! I was poorly so my mum came home from work with this for me ❤ had no idea he was called Vile Stinkhorn! Thanks for the massive nostalgia dive 😍
I never knew this existed, but I am showing this video to all my friends ASAP. I love how I can directly see the inspiration for Mighty Max playsets, and especially Terror Talons. But this is a perfect example of the early draft that had a lot less polish, but was way more ambitious and imaginative to an insane degree.
Wow, that looks like a fun toy. I guess army men like toys can be a lot more fun if given the right setting, and a play set & vehicle combo like that could appears to be the answer. I love the idea of incorporating clay into toys like that. Although a part of me feels like the clay would have had a bit of a slimy consistency originally, judging from certain parts of the set having pits that look like play slime could fit in. Basically how the remaining vintage clay you had kinda looked like, except not as sticky or smelly with age. Fun video overall 😁👍! I’m curious to see you tackle the other parts of this line.
These are BEAUTIFUL! I know I would have had some of these when I was a kid. This toy has all the play features that call back to a time when toys were made for over imaginative fun! I love it!
Yes more of this! Obscure 80stoys, truly obscure ones, are the best. Also Howard the Duck was definitely a horror movie. Edit: my god, why can’t I like this video a million times! This is one of the greatest toys and the greatest toy review of all time.
Holy Moly, it's like the missing link between GI Joe and Mighty Max! Also, Stenchoids? From now on I'm gonna make it my life's mission to use it as an insult at every opportunity I get.
Fantastic, I used to love playing make believe as the villain as a kid. I remember a friend and I made some mixture of mush out of mud and we would dangle Batman figures over it, the weird satisfaction you would get dropping them in it for your mum to wash off the mud afterwards 😂
Very cool video! Thank you! Never hear of MANTA Force before, so extra thanks for the informative video on this nifty line. I can't believe they named the villain after a species of foul-smelling fungus which produces a mushroom that looks like . . . a particular piece of male anatomy . . . until it dissolves into a slimy, tar-like mass of yuk. Or maybe I can.
1:08 It’s a good thing that the planet was already called New Earth before they colonised it, let’s hope theres a New New Earth out there, if they ever have to colonise a planet again.
I always remember blowing up a complete fully crewed manta force with black cat thunderkings on bonfire night in the late 90s. I wouldn't do that now and in my old age regret it. But at the time that was a spectacle.
@TRDQ to be fair we did it in an allotment and the ship wasn't the only casualty. I miss the damage upside down thunder Kings could cause. Those carrots took months to recover 🤣
I had some manta force toys as a kid, that Red Venom was absolute quality. I only rediscovered this toyline on RUclips afew weeks ago so this feels very timely. 😊
Absolute belter of a set, its tempted me to buy some Manta Force and this review is the first time hearing about this toyline. Also Gavin, have you considered reviewing the Beast Wars Microverse playsets? I know they're a bit harder to come by but those Mighty Max style, mini playsets are amazing.
I wanted this toy so bad after seeing it advertised in the Beano but my mum thought it would actually stink and refused to even consider it as a BDay present. I may be misremembering but i think the goo was more like slime than playdoh.
My initial guess when you pulled out the Vile Stinkhorn figure was that Stinkhorn was meant to be pretty small in-universe, like Krang's true form in Ninja Turtles. Then I saw your Red Venom review and I realized that Stinkhorn is apparently about five feet across before you count his tentacles.
I loved MANTA Force as a wee bairn. If you ever do a video on Bluebird's other (very short-lived) toy line: Zero Hour... Well, let's just say that I may dissolve into a greasy lump of goo.
I'm pretty sure I had a Manta Force dude mixed in with all my toys as a kid. Only remembered from seeing this video! Never knew what he was from and now I know 😅
what an amazing piece of junk. in the rocket mode it gives vibes of a good ol' NASA space shuttle that was lost to the void & hijacked by cosmic horrors, now returning to plague the humans of a hundred/thousand years in the future. The colors are so of its time, too. Loved this detour into something I'd never heard of!
I'm over 50 and I dig it daddy-o. I remember Green Slime _with_ Worms which was, of course, better than just Green Slime, as well as older than Real Ghostbusters Ectoplasm. :)
This was the one I was missing as a kid. Never even saw one. Had the other 3 ships. Red Venom was amazing but Black Barracuda was my fave. Manta Force was the best and should be brought back. They could do blind bags of the figures and robots and monsters with parts to swap. Pack in a little play doh. Make a bunch of smaller ships. Someone should do one of them Kickstarters for this. Or just make a load for us and sod everyone else.
I've been dabbling with this line recently. Picked up a boxed Battle Fortress & realised i'd made a terrible mistake as it's twice the size I expected.I don't have space for this at all!
So wait, did the Stinkforce joined the robot or did they became a third faction for the other three to fight against? Also really suprised the old playdough were kept inside of those capsule all of thoese years!!!
Wow, I had never heard of those, it look amazing, you can tell they had tons of fun designing it. :) I admire your courage for opening that biohazard stink egg. Hehe an adorable audience composed of 80% of old men, 10% of nerdy trans women and I guess 10% of other random people. :P
I fucking loved Manta force, one of my favourite toy lines ever. Never had enough bad guys though. When I seen the stenchoids as a kid I wanted them really fucking bad. Unfortunately I never got the stench rocket but I did get a car based vehicle which I suppose had to do, ah well. But manta force was fucking great. Up there for me with dino riders and starcom but not quite turtles level. Oh and I can’t forget about boglins

I automatically read this in Gavin's voice.
I’d be disappointed if someone didn’t say this.

Just… WOW
Greatest TRDQ ever. Only further Manta Force videos can take you higher.

The more I played with this and Red Venom the more I came to appreciate the original Manta for sure. I'm looking for one now haha
I had this gem of a toy for my 4th birthday/sick from school!

I think Matt from Dinosaur Dracula would love this. What a fun looking toy.
"Audacity audacity, always audacity!"
- probably someone, Galvatron I guess
"Eugene Levys" broke me, Gav😂
"Make this the most disgusting thing ever!" did seem to be the standards for toys back in the day, to get any kid interested.
Wow, that looks like a fun toy. I guess army men like toys can be a lot more fun if given the right setting, and a play set & vehicle combo like that could appears to be the answer.

Just discovered your Chanel. Brilliant stuff. There is one more big ship. The Astro Shark 😁
These are BEAUTIFUL! I know I would have had some of these when I was a kid. This toy has all the play features that call back to a time when toys were made for over imaginative fun! I love it!
That is the most 90s toy ever. Toy of the year for sure!
I can't be the only one who thinks the shape of this thing is super reminiscent of the Zorgons' ships from Zathura, right?
Yes more of this! Obscure 80stoys, truly obscure ones, are the best.
Also Howard the Duck was definitely a horror movie.
Edit: my god, why can’t I like this video a million times! This is one of the greatest toys and the greatest toy review of all time.
I hope you review the big yellow teapot next
I genuinely might
Holy Moly, it's like the missing link between GI Joe and Mighty Max! Also, Stenchoids? From now on I'm gonna make it my life's mission to use it as an insult at every opportunity I get.
Yeah I called one of my kids a stenchoid a few weeks ago lol. I was quite proud of myself 😁
@@eamonokane2469 Nice!
6:58 just, WTF !?😅 (😰 )

Reminds me of the Air Raiders line from Hasbro 1987. Has similar mini figs with an emphasis on the vehicles
Ooooh, Red Venom looks freaking sick!😲
More Manta Force reviews, please. I'll be your friend.
Nothing could have prepared me for the decomposing corpses. 🤣
This was easily one of my favorite of your videos. Well done and I’m certainly open to learning more about this toy line.
1:08
It’s a good thing that the planet was already called New Earth before they colonised it, let’s hope theres a New New Earth out there, if they ever have to colonise a planet again.
You just unlocked a 30 years old hidden memory with this one.
Absolute genius review of a clearly next level toy. 10/10
manta force rules. thank you Gav for enlightening the world to its greatness
I have an almost complete MANTA ship. One of my favorite childhood toys.
Bluebird toys, such an iconic british toy brand.😊
i would love to see more manta force reviews!!!
I have never heard of this line. I definitely would have loved it back in the day. Great video sir
I always remember blowing up a complete fully crewed manta force with black cat thunderkings on bonfire night in the late 90s. I wouldn't do that now and in my old age regret it. But at the time that was a spectacle.
Lucky!
@TRDQ to be fair we did it in an allotment and the ship wasn't the only casualty. I miss the damage upside down thunder Kings could cause. Those carrots took months to recover 🤣

I've always wanted to!
@@TRDQ Fingers crossed, I'd love to own them both complete one day
I wanted this toy so bad after seeing it advertised in the Beano but my mum thought it would actually stink and refused to even consider it as a BDay present. I may be misremembering but i think the goo was more like slime than playdoh.
Manta Force makes those horror themed Mighty Max sets look tame by comparison
My initial guess when you pulled out the Vile Stinkhorn figure was that Stinkhorn was meant to be pretty small in-universe, like Krang's true form in Ninja Turtles. Then I saw your Red Venom review and I realized that Stinkhorn is apparently about five feet across before you count his tentacles.
Wow same people who made Mighty Max. Very neat and creative use of playdoh instead of slime
I adore Manta Force! I really do need to talk myself into hunting down the sets.
You are right, I didn't know anything about this. That black barracuda is looking fine😉
I loved MANTA Force as a wee bairn. If you ever do a video on Bluebird's other (very short-lived) toy line: Zero Hour... Well, let's just say that I may dissolve into a greasy lump of goo.
Hello Gavin
currently its 5 am here in Mexico so... Buenos dias
Hello Lex - Buenos Dias!
I'm pretty sure I had a Manta Force dude mixed in with all my toys as a kid. Only remembered from seeing this video! Never knew what he was from and now I know 😅
I never got if the little titan master inside Repugnus is put upside down by mistake or by design to make 40 yo or older viewers angry
Yes.
what an amazing piece of junk. in the rocket mode it gives vibes of a good ol' NASA space shuttle that was lost to the void & hijacked by cosmic horrors, now returning to plague the humans of a hundred/thousand years in the future. Manta force!!! Ahhh yes man all I got left of them is a ruddy ladybird book I need these man
I loved my local newsagents was a huge building which had EVERYTHING! Even LEGO and manta force! Loved this dodgy old brand
They remind me of Trash Pack figures. Very cool !!
this would pair up amazingly with Wheeled Warriors bad guys 🤓
The GOAT of toylines
I'm over 50 and I dig it daddy-o. I remember Green Slime _with_ Worms which was, of course, better than just Green Slime, as well as older than Real Ghostbusters Ectoplasm. :)
OMG the Big Yellow Tea Pot!!!
I saw a red venom in my local retro shop. Might get it
As a fan of Grossery Gang, it seems I es creted 30 years to experience magnificence.
I've been totally ignorant of Manta Force until just a couple of years ago but I still had no idea it went utterly mad at the end.
This is beautiful.
Big space monsters from gunbuster vibes, gotta love a big living space ship that absolutely hates humans!
6:18 it's SNOT your fault? *groan* hehe
Never heard of the line. No TV show?
6:15 Thinking about zit popping and I will blame you for it anyway.
This was the one I was missing as a kid. Never even saw one. Had the other 3 ships. Red Venom was amazing but Black Barracuda was my fave. Manta Force was the best and should be brought back. I would love to see you review some wheeled warriors
Me too!
I felt the same way about army men, and that’s why I never got into GIJoe as a kid. Hi-five.
I've been dabbling with this line recently. Picked up a boxed Battle Fortress & realised i'd made a terrible mistake as it's twice the size I expected.I don't have space for this at all!
Haha same
Remember the first two. My local toys tore didn't get the latter seasons.
Joke's on Stinkhorn, I've got anosmia! Your attacks do NOTHING to me!
So wait, did the Stinkforce joined the robot or did they became a third faction for the other three to fight against?
Also really suprised the old playdough were kept inside of those capsule all of thoese years!!!
2:25 quintesson judge or executioner
ah man, this is stinkin' (complimentary)
I don't really have anything to say but I always hear commenting helps channels.
Please don't be offended that I just suggested you need help.
If there's one thing Gavin knows, it's that he needs help.
Wow, I had never heard of those, it look amazing, you can tell they had tons of fun designing it. :)
I admire your courage for opening that biohazard stink egg.
Hehe an adorable audience composed of 80% of old men, 10% of nerdy trans women and I guess 10% of other random people. :P

Bog Rocket is a great term for poop
I'd never heard of this one before but man it's got all the hallmarks of the stupid stuff I like what a toy
Stinkhorn looks like the Devil from Squidbillies. looks like I'm going to have to deprive the UK out of some Manta Force toys
I won a Manta Force drawing competition and got the Bog Rocket as a prize
Manta Force? Stench Eggs? The UK? You're just making all this up as you go!
I swear Ashens talked about these in 2023...
jesus christ
Why do you cut the wing off one and give it to the other? Instead of just swapping all the presumably removable parts into the complete shell?
The other one had stickers and was in generally better condition. The other had a lot of cracks and dings
My God what a toy!
Ever since Jugger Morph I don't know when to believe you, you can't prove that this is real
I never liked Manta Force, I much preferred Mega Force toys, they looked much cooler, but I never actually had any.
Great insight Steve!
