I just received my Hybrid snare pad a few days ago and I love it. I have 1 small issue, the only way that I can get the snare wires to be active on the head is to have them almost denting the head.
You might notice that is does push up on the head on both sides a little bit. This is normal but try not to let it push to much on the head. When you get to a certain point the snares don’t really get much tighter. When I have the foam insert in I actually find that having the snare looser gives it a more crisp sound. 👍 We are glad you are enjoying it!
The only thing that I wish I had known before ordering was that I needed tunning gear. Ugh, good thing it arrived a day before Black Friday. There were some specials on the drum keys.
Taping the snares to the head while the foam's out gives a pretty nice sound, but I'm very curious to hear what normal "gut" snares would've sounded like.
I find the snare wires do push up on the head a bit also when I have the foam in with bottom pad I can’t seem to get the snare wires to sound ( I notice my foam is white in the video its grey) If i take the foam out its amazing
Yes the wires will push on the heads some. You could also try making them completely loose and that might give you snare sound as well with the foam in. The foam is the same the one in the video is the prototype so the foam was just black instead of white.
@@rcpdrumcompany1545 I get no difference in snare sound by adjusting the rods on both sides. Completely tight or completely loose there is still zero snare sound. Removing the foam and taping the snares to the head gets a great sound but it's insanely loud! Would shaving a thin slice off the top of the foam help?
Yes, shaving about 1/4” off the foam would give you some of the snare sounds but still keep it muted as well. We are switching over to have the foam start a little thinner. Originally we made it thicker so that it could be completely muted if people want. We are working on putting a video together for additional tuning tips such as trimming the foam. Use a bread knife to cut through the foam slowly going back and forth.
Yes, we will have more in production but they wont be ready for about 3 months. We still have just a few left available from the first batch on our website.
The snare was very loud, so I tried putting in the foam pad, but it’s so big, no matter how how tight or loose the snares are the foam pushes up on them and doesn’t let them sound
We are working to get the thickness of the foam down just a little bit to get a bit more snare sound. It is a very fine line. Unfortunately the tolerance of the foam can vary even though it all supposed to be a certain thickness from the foam manufacturers. If you wanted a quick fix Walmart has a 2” foam that doesn’t touch the head as much if you want more snare and just a little bit of dampening. Or if you want to try and cut your existing foam where the snare wires goes you can use a bread knife to cut this type of foam. Thank you for your understanding we are still working on getting thing narrowed down with the foam company.
Yo i had another question, i noticed yall are selling replacement heads but they are all 13” in are yall gonna end up selling 12” in replacement heads for the hybrid snare because i can’t find a 12” in marching head anywhere
@rcpdrumcompany1545 I have a question can you tune the wires without the bottom attached like with the bottom pad removed and can you please upload a video of you playing it without the bottom attached they sound amazing
@@markponekovic3415 There are videos already out there, and yes you can. Honestly it wont "sound" like a marching snare, but it kinda feels like it if you tighten the head enough. I wasn't getting it to the same tension though tbh.
@Ephremjlm1 what do you mean that it won't sound like a marching snare isn't metal strong enough to take the tension not like xmox hybrid because it's made of plastic
@markponekovic3415 it's metal but for some reason the lugs don't particularly fit the Vic Firth high tension key and I'll have to check because it's been a while but it may have even stripped the key a little. Meaning at least for me all I was able to use was a more snuggly fitted starclassic drum key. Not really meant for high tension. Thatbsaid even at higher tensions the snarenwires don't tighten they just get closer or further away from the head. It's kinda weird too because the xymox ones DO tighten, they just have shitty plastic that breaks. My rims on the top and bottom both broke lol.
I got a question because im about to preorder it from your website. Does it work with the pad carrier you are selling? Even if it works with just the pad.
The carriers are for our active snare pad. They are currently out of stock and we don’t know when we will be getting more because Randall May hasn’t been able to complete our order of them.
@@rcpdrumcompany1545 that’s alright man. I preordered the hybrid snare and im excited for it to get here it said it should get here by late january but when putting in info to get it it told me it should get here in time for Christmas idk which

Now this is amazing, actual metal rims
👍
I also like how to comes with basically a free pad you can take out and just use on its own
This reminds me of one of those Custom Snare Drums where you take the Shell of of it. Nice.
So can't wait to hear what this will sound like with the white and black max heads

Do the snare wires come at an even height for putting them against the head? (Kid from BOA Indiana) Can’t wait to get my hybrid!

is there any way to replace the snare wires?
when can we get remo black maxes with these?
We are still working on getting them, they have to be specially made just for us and it requires a very large minimum order. 👍

@@rcpdrumcompany1545 thanks for telling me also thanks for replying so quickly i appreciate it
Does it come with replacement skin at top 🤔
We will be selling replacement heads on our website 👍
can i replace the practice pad side with a reso head?
No because there is not a bearing edge to be able to put the head over. You can remove the bottom pad and rim to have a more open sound. 👍
Can you actually tighten the snare wires on these?
You can adjust the snares up and down to change how much contact they are making with the head. 👍
