Try physical vapor deposition, it will last a lot longer. It is the system used for making reflective the parts of most of the headlamps used in the automotive industry.
This would be excellent for rechroming light reflectors actually. Some on older motorcycles and scooters are simply not available, so being able to just clean and rechrome would be a real life saver.

Keep safe guys
What you said is what I say all the time. Its not the actual chrome spray that achieves a shiny and reflective chrome look. Most of the shine and reflection comes from the gloss of the black coat. The chrome spray is just to make the shiny black coat more silver to make it look chrome. Without the black, the chrome is nothing more than a basic silver paint.
*That was pretty slick, I didn't know you could chrome plate without the item being conductive and using electrolysis like I do when I plate with gold or other precious metals. The big question here for me is if I were to exclude the silver seal rinse, would that chrome be conductive like regular chrome that is typically plated over nickel would be that it could be gold plated next with a typical electrolysis gold plating machine or is this more of a paint like chrome that is non-conductive?*
Is this something that you could do with only specific sections of something? Could you tape off and peal the parts you don’t want or would that not work?

Its like the videos showing how easy hydrodipping is, they tell you just put film in water spray activator and immerse it. But the truth you need to do the whole process of spray painting and put it on the film while the paint is still wet or it wont get on the item. And this is the same you have to paint the item just minutes before you do this process.
You don't do it while the paint is wet.. I recently did a remote control car body at a mates shop who specialized in car parts and guns stocks.... depending on the type of film you use and color of the item being dipped, you do have to paint a colored base coat, but it has to be completely dry before dipping. And when you dip it, the film does coat your arms, but washes off easily or peals off when dry. You do then have to clear coat the printed item after to protect it and stop it from scratching off easily.
