The Realness is the debut studio album by American rapper Cormega. It features guest appearances from Mobb Deep and Tragedy Khadafi, as well as production from Havoc of Mobb Deep, J-Love, and The Alchemist, among others.[1] It was released via Legal Hustle Records and LandSpeed Records.
The Realness was re-released in 2007 with The True Meaning, Cormega's second album from 2002, in a double special-edition package. The album's sequel, The Realness II, was released on October 7, 2022.
Cormega rose to fame in the mid-90s as an original member of The Firm hip hop group, along with Nas, AZ and Foxy Brown, appearing on the song "Affirmative Action" from the Nas album It Was Written.[2] After being booted from the group, Cormega signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings, and recorded his first album The Testament. The album was eventually shelved, and Cormega was dropped from label, joining LandSpeed Records for his first official release.

Please, please, please react to Rachelle Ferrell and Will Downing duet "Nothing Has Ever Felt"! Your heart and ears will thank you!!!❤❤❤❤❤
You should do some songs from Brandi's Never Say Never Album, Some AAliyah songs too. And Toni Braxton. More 90s r&b and some Ashanti (early 2000s)
Very nice song to react to:
Is it really you - Loathe
Brother you got Play NORE CRY AND PRAY HE'LL LOVE IT
Brownstone
Grapevine
I think you fellaz may enjoy this one❤❤❤❤
Genuinely surprised and happy to see you cover Cormega.
Such a great song 🎶 underrated for sure!
Criminally underrated imo
His first two albums are classics imo
The Realness is the most underrated album of all time
You Dad is an honorary Queens guy, you need to get him an Avarex for Christmas.
😆
😆 👍🏼
Tf is that lol
🤣🤣🤣
@@svenvdv2880he spelled it wrong it’s avirex and it’s a leather jacket lol throwback NY gear . Wish it would’ve stuck around like timbs . But I’ll be damned if I pay 2/3k for a coat
Ya dad is awesome bro. It's amazing that a middle aged white guy from Canada can sit down with his son and listen to hip hop and break it down so nicely. And not only that but enjoy it. Even though he's lived a TOTALLY different lifestyle he can still recognize the real. Much respect 🙏🏼 glad you showed him hip hop / rap and he gave it a chance.
Absolutely love that you selected Mega! The most slept on rap artist ever. The Realness and True Meaning are classics, projects you can listen to the whole album from front to back and not skip a track. Therapy and Verbal Graffiti are 2 of my favorites, but you can’t go wrong with any of them!
I still go back to True Meaning for those songs. The whole album is only like 49 mins long but that shit will be on replay for days
Cormega has a good discography. He recently dropped the realness 2 and it's also great.
The first track on The Realness is insane
Agreed. So great
"They forced my hand" on the same album is easily one of my favourite songs, ever, from any genre of music. Loved the talk between you two on Cormega!
Now I got to relisten to that song
I loved this album. I love Cormega. This is the epitome of hip hop. This channel is great.
I was not expecting Cormega.
I love that album.
WOW....I'm SHOCKED by this one! Props to you for even knowing who MEGA is!
Great reaction to one of the most underrated, Mega! You mentioned Mobb Deep, the third verse is about Havoc's brother, Killer Black, who most of Mobb Deep's early music was inspired by.
I can't believe you know who Cormega is!!! As a Queens native I've been listening to mega for years!!!! He's definitely one of the most underrated mc's in hip hop just like Jadakiss. This particular track is one of my favorites. Anytime I listen to this it definitely reminds me of all my past friends who are no longer here. It takes me to another dimension. It even made your dad shed a tear! Lol. Just out of curiosity what state are you guys reporting from?
We are from Canada. Thanks for watching!
Your videos are dope and you've been playing some bangers! Can you please listen to a group called souls of mischief a track called 93 til infinity or thats when you lost it. They're a group from Oakland and I think you'll enjoy their music if you've never heard them
@@frontroompeace! I'm watching from Winnipeg. I love seeing you two share moments through music. One love.
I lot of people in Ontario Canada have been influence by east coast hip hop. My buddy introduced me to Mega back in 2002. One of my favourite MCs ever since.
This one surprised me. Did not expect you to do a Cormega song. Cormega is one of the only artists to drop 2 classic LPs back to back and is never mentioned for it. Great choice.
What a great surprise here. Haven't seen many Cormega reactions so this is good to see. Great emcee.
Cover ‘Beautiful Mind’ by Cormega. One of his best ones for sure 👌🏽
This is the last thing I expected. Massive W tho. I love mega’s verse on Three, Whats ya poison, thun & kicko. His flow is so unique
I'm sure you saw, but Cormega wants you at his next concert in Toronto. He did a post on facebook recognizing you guys. That's awesome. Kid Capri also used this beat with Jay-Z.
Cormega was slept on for sure. He deserve all his flowers. Another one I feel is legendary but hasn’t gotten enough recognition is AZ the album Aziatic was a masterpiece. Take a listen you won’t be disappointed. I still listen to it to this day.
Cormega The Realness, A Masterpiece.
Thank you so much for doing this. Please do all the cormega
"What up wit Cormega..did you see him...are y'all together" #OneLove 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Im loving the frequent videos
Thanks awesome to hear! We will try to keep them coming quick
Classic definitely appreciate this review great pick
Mega forever. This is one for the real rap fans. Had his first two albums on heavy rotation for years. Heavily underrated
Totally forgot about this album, tnx for the reminder!!
I just know this was hard on the early 2000s🔥
This track was blowing out chevy cavaliers hard
I appreciate all the content you guys have been putting out
We appreciate you watching!
So lucky your Dad is open to listening and enjoying the dopest hip hop. I wish my family was this cool
Well I cried listening to this, never heard Cormega before as far as I know, thanks bro
Man watching you guys gives me so much joy especially when you listen to artists I love and Mega is one of them. And as far as the Mobb Deep and Nas comparisons, Nas, Havoc and Cormega are from the same projects and grew up together. I have soooooo much significant information that I want to bombard you guys with lol.
Oh yes, Cormega!!! I always love it the best when you cover real Hip-Hop! Great to see your dad appreciating these amazing songs as well!
I love this song man, you have great taste.
3 days ago, Cormega posted on FB that he wants y’all as guests on his Toronto show! He watched your video and loved it!
Mega and Nas are childhood friends from the same neighborhood
Cormega just posted you guys on his Instagram!!!!! He wants you guys on his podcast!!!!
Cormega 1 of the best of all time. Remember first hearing a snippet preview of him on I believe Foxy Browns Ill nana cassette and couldn't wait for more
Beautiful mind is another one from Cormega that you guys must react too
Just fantastic to see this, Cormega is an incredibly independent artist full of talent his first two albums are brilliantly done with authenticity that you can just feel through his lyrics, I loved this reaction so much I’ve just subscribed!
Cormega raw forever!
I can’t believe you didn’t react de la soul yet!
Especially 3 feet high and rising and the next two albums are masterpieces!🔥
You both would love it!
I love your channel so much. Watching you guide your dad thru decades of music is just beautiful. Your approach to everything and ability to frame things in an understandable way is just amazing. I don’t have the best relationship with my dad but I always end up with a smile watching these. Thank you so much man it means a lot to me
One of the most underrated hip hop artists of all time in my opinion, sick vid as per usual!
Cormega is a genuine human that deserves all attention possible!
Bro, if you and your dad like NAS, moob deep, and cormega, you guys would love and enjoy AZ🙌🏾 AZ is so under rated, please do a video reacting to AZ🙏🏽
Yes!!! I knew pops would love mega!!
Wow im suprised u know who he is him and az are the most underrated rappers. Actually this is the 1st album he released but not the 1st album he made. The 1st album he made was called the testament it was supposed to be released around 98 or 99. This album deserves a full review no skips on this joint. Great review much respect to your pops 4 having an open mind. By the way he put out the testament years after it was supposed to be released
Ohhhhhhhh shit, about time...The Saga & American Beauty are dope too...honestly the whole album is classic, and the sequel is a true sequel.
I was shocked to see this pop up on my feed. Man like Mega you know, can’t believe it! Mega is a real dude. Came to Brixton and showed the hood love. So glad you featured him. ❤
Great song! Impressed you reviewed this one. QB was always my favorite NY music back in the day. Mega talking about Killa Black, Havoc of Mobb Deeps bro.
Cormega a great MC. Big up ❤
cormega just posted you on his instagram showing his appreciation, even said if you’re from toronto he would like to invite you to be guests at his show on 17th of december !
Keep droppin Mega. You have plenty of material of his to cover. Hes my favorite out of everyone from QB. This whole album is a complete classic
Wow shout out to you for doing Cormega. One of the most underrated rappers of all time. So happy him and Nas are cool now and friends again.
Wow, im very impressed that you guys did a Cormega video. Such an underrated rapper. Keep it up.
I see a lot of ppl make similar comments to what I'm about to say but it bears repeating; you're extremely lucky to have such an open-minded pops. Me and mine get along pretty well and we share SOME similar tastes in music but he would never sit and bump Mega with me. Your pops is one of a kind
Cormega songs that are elite
- journey
- make it clear
- unforgiven
- testaments
- who can I trust
- the realness
- dirty game
- glory days
- dramatic entrance
- built for this
- valuable lessons
Heaps more too
That whole album is hard!!! Are you my nigga is my joint. Him and Nas is from the same hood so you can see the similarities.
Never expected this! Keep up the good work!
I can’t believe I’m only finding these videos just now. I love watching people introduced to hip hop that I’ve grown up and loved all my life.
Mega is one of my favorite rappers. He has many songs on mix tapes and featured on many others. One of his issues was going in and out of jail and one of the reasons his career did not take off. In the late 90’s/early 2000s, QB had many rappers dropping gems. Especially on mix tapes. Nice review.
On FB , Cormega invited you to his Toronto show.
Mega saw this!! He wants to invite y'all to his show in Toronto next month
When I First time heared this track I got tears in my eyes to
Cormega!! I love how your dad knew he was a conscious artist.
Thank you, guys, for playing Mega great song choice
If you like the feel of this, I highly Recommend “where was heaven” by WU Syndicate.
This is without a doubt my favorite youtube channel right now. I found you just recently and I grew up with all this amazing music and it's such a massive part of my life. I always took pride in being the one my friends and others turned to alot, when they wanted some good music. I love how much this brings all kinds of different people together. Nothing else does that, quite as much as music does, even more so with hip hop, as I'm a generation between the two of you and live on the other side of the globe. You guys never fail to make me smile and laugh, keep up the good shit, thank you!
Glad you’re enjoying the reactions! - Kai’s dad
So im 2 hours into finding your channel (hooked) im a massive hip hop fan from the UK ! i wish i my dad cared enough to even be around me let alone listen to music with me... cherish it dude❤ These videos will be there forever
Bravo 👏. Giving Cormega shine ✨. Well done: 👏 💎
Beautiful Mind from the album Legal Hustle by Cormega. Another great song.
Great reaction. Should show him Mega "Get out my way" or "Thin Line". So underatted
Cormega himself said that he would like to invite you guys to his show in Toronto Dec 17!
This is amazing! Thank you for playing Cormega. He is phenomenal.
Cormega is with Nas & Mobb Deep easily the best what QB, NYC has to offer from Hip-Hop.
It's time to go with your Dad to Philadelphia and show him "Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design" album. But I would start with "I Who Have Nothing" from the first album of them. Your Dad will love it.
Ya pops is connecting things purely thru the music. This channel is amazing! We are actually watching someone recover rap! Wow!
I would love more Cormega! Was huge fan as a kid in the 90s. But I suspect a lot of your followers won’t be particularly excited about this artist cause he’s such an underground rapper.
But his come up and the hype around his debut album was huge back in those days. Then he had that fallout with Nas over being kicked out of the group the Firm with Nas and Dr Dre, then his fallout with Violator and his debut album being shelved (it eventually came out later in his career). Man this dude found himself in the middle of a lot of drama haha.
Either way The Realness which this song is on and is his official debut album is a NY underground classic.
Check out Cormega's Saga remix it'll blow you away
^This guy gets it!
Way to expand your reviews even more.. Cormega is a seriously slept on emcee .. but those of us who knew about him know he's dope. One of my favorites for sure.
CORMEGA - THE SAGA REMIX
THIS SONG IS A MUST!!!!
Love love love that album!
Great to see a Mega reaction. Played the hell out of this album back in the day
I'm SHOCKED to see Cormega on here. True pioneer who is never really discussed much.
Cormega has to be one of the most underrated rappers of all time
Huge fan of Cormega, massively underrated
One of my all time favorite albums from that era of hip hop. Killer flow, heartfelt lyrics. Street shit… all of it. He did some prison time before this came out.
Was not expecting to see Mega on here ever! I loved thus album, what a pleasant surprise!
✌🏿💗💡
Dont forget about the 2nd version. Was pops aware 3rd verse was actually Havs brother? He definitely recognized the name. Keep it up fellas
Love this reaction guys 👏 one of my favourite songs both versions ❤️
A true all time great. And one of my favorite songs. I think every single person on the planet can relate to this song.
Peeped this on megas Instagram you have my subscription love this album these are conversations I have with my sun peace and love sent your ways fellas 🙌
The lyrics on American beuty ... I can't sleep my pens beggin me to write rhymes.... I love that shytttt
Classic Track...Cormega has one of the greatest verses of all time on Affirmative Action and some of the greatest mixtape freestyles in history..also check out Half-A-Mil when you get a chance..Another slept on rapper who deserve his flowers, RIP Half A Mil.
Cormega is a special rapper. I actually prefer Fallen Soldiers Remix, however. The verse about his Mom gets me every time.
The 12" for this was released in 99 before the album. I remember buying it.
holy shit u guys blew tf up congrats!
Hey you guys need to do a reaction to a British freestyle rap called “fire in the booth ace link and wretch 32”. It is known as the best British freestyle of all time and is truly unbelievable. I think you guys will love it.
Cormega brought me here. Great dad, great son!
One the same album, Cormega has a diss track towards Nas called Thun & Kicko…Prodigy of Mobb Deep takes a few swipes at Nas on the song as well. When this album came out, Cormega still had issues with Nas over The Firm essentially kicking him out of the group. He takes a few shots at Nas and The Firm throughout the album. He and Nas have reconciled since then, but Cormega on the Firm Album would’ve been legendary…
I just binged your channel and I absolutely love it! I think you guys would REALLY enjoy India Arie. I would love to see you both react to her specifically The Truth by India Arie.
Your dad is cool as fuck. Love that he appreciates Corrmega.
Powerful track! The words paint the picture 🖼️!
Hey were u guys been ? Hope everything is ok . Love n prayers 🙏🏼
Surprised you picked this first and not the saga begins remix but both songs are my favorites out of his discography. Knowing Mega, I know he will watching this review
