I just want to say how underrated that chorus is. It's honestly one of the catchiest and most beautifully melancholy melody lines that I have ever listened to. This song really gives me a nostalgic and bittersweet vibe and I absolutely love it because of that.
This song takes me straight back to the first major relationship I ever had. We were young -- she was a few years older than me and a LOT more adventurous. She drove like a blind person and could drink like an Irishman, and I was in DEEP over my head...but in a good way. We blared this song as we drove to the next state over to go to a HUGE fair/festival, and we were there straight 'til the sun went down. We were both broke as fuck, but she bought me a beer and I bought us silly beads to wear. We were so lost, and to top it off, we couldn't even remember where we'd parked! Eventually, we picked an exit and just walked along the metal fence that surrounded the entire fairgrounds. It was dark out and the streets were dimly lit, but tons of noise and light was still coming from the fair beside us. We held hands as we walked, and she pointed out a Chinese restaurant that she knew. She wanted to take me there one day. I'd always worried so much in life -- worried about shit that was irrelevant, and things I couldn't control. Right then, right there...I didn't care how lost we were. I ended the relationship a few years later, but I'll always keep this slice of youth close to my heart. I moved on and am having a great life. I hope she's doing the same.
