  • In southern lower Michigan, there are three small parks near each other in the Irish Hills area that combined offer a variety of things to see and do. Check out our video review of all three parks in this Centennial Treks installment.
Cambridge Junction (00:00) is full of history and makes for a nice way to spend part of a day touring the historic buildings and learning about the area.
Hayes State Park (07:22) A short distance from Cambridge Junction, Hayes offers camping and a couple of nice inland lakes to hang out at.
Watkins Lake (12:58) is the 103rd Michigan State Park. It's an undeveloped tract of land that is being jointly managed by the state DNR and the Washtenaw County parks department. There's not much there to see right now, but it has potential so keep an eye on this one.

Love to go to Hayes. Only bad part is how busy it gets

Seems like that's becoming a consistent problem at a lot of state parks lately -- and not just in Michigan!

Great video! I have been to that park several times. The history was great information. My house is only 15 min from there and my mother in law has a booth at the farmers market every week selling homemade bread!
