edge of the earth part 2 would be my most hyped album of all time. if you can get anywhere close to that album once again i would be hapoier than you can imagine. i liked your previous album, but the songs are way too compact and short overall, it's not the best fitting style for sylosis (in my opinion). a godless throne is the only previous standout song that can be compared to EOTE stuff. if there is any chance you release an album with like 5 or 6 of these it will be one of the best metal albums ever. very hyped for EOTE part 2.
It helps keep the metal world healthy that someone playing essentially Thrash in a higher standard tuning can get as much recognition and respect. I’m all for super low drop tunings as well, but in the end it’s really what/how a whole band plays that will make things heavy

I'm super grateful that you were able to get CoaA and EotE pressed, I've picked up Cycle of Suffering and ASOTTC but it would be awesome to complete the set! Also could be cool to get the singles that never made it onto physical media pressed, such as Slings and Arrows, Different Masks, Worship Decay etc and of course your earlier EPs :)
Standard and drop tunings make you write and play differently, and there's stuff you can and can't do like specific chord shapes and arpeggios on both. I like both even though I'm mostly a drop tuning player myself
Question for the next AJFA: Any particular reason why you still prefer using real amps and cabs to record albums? Especially since plugins nowadays sound so good (including your own) that the average listener won't be able to tell the difference when listening to a full mixed track.

He forgot to mention he uses the Crunch channel (mids scooped) and an OD808, with Fishman pickups (basically the classic Machine Head sound, without the SD-1). Before joining Architects, he used Gower modded Marshalls (with an EMG 81/85, then 57/66 set).

2:45 - Refreshing to hear. I've owned 7s and tuned down to B or A in the past but slowly learned to despise it over the years. Just the amount of effort to get it to sit well in a mix was tiresome. Extended scale lengths, faffing around with string gauges, crazy EQ curves, ludicrous amounts of gain to get it to cut and then dealing with the increased noise floor that comes with it. Grew tired of it real quick. Probably ended up going too far in the other direction as a result: standard E tuning only for years now. I don't even like dropped D! I've got huge respect for anyone who can persevere and get it to sound good (Deftones, Meshuggah), but it's not for me. I'll happily stick with my nice, tight, _easy_ metal tones.

1:21 hey Josh, there have been some videos recently about the input gain, and how manufacturers of plugins recommend way lower gain than most people use. I tried it on some plugins, put my input gain on my interface (Audient ID4) to 0, and was very surprised by the difference it made. Felt more real and sounded tighter. What are your thoughts on this? Also, I saw a video where they tested the noise floor at different input gain levels on audio interfaces. The signal-noise-ratio was the same no matter if they turned it up on the preamp or in the DAW after the fact. Thought that was interesting, too. (Not the case for outboard analog gear, of course.)
I used (and I use) about 20-30% of max signal gain level (noise is reduced more then quality of signal, so overall signal-noise ratio and quality is better). Mostly due to high levels of noise from electricity network or circuits. This not affect quality of signal as much, but makes a lot easier to deal with in DAW and in plugins such as amp sims. (they amplify less noise). When you have no power filters (like I am, for example) and have very noisy signal, then reducing input levels in soundcard (audio interface) is the fist thing that could help to get sound which you can to listen atleast, without hurting and murdering your ears :)
