Famed for its crescent-shaped beach, Copacabana is one of Rio’s liveliest neighborhoods, drawing a cross-section of locals and visitors to round-the-clock activity along its sands and mosaic-tiled promenade. Amid the high-rises overlooking the beach are the art deco Copacabana Palace hotel and imposing Copacabana Fort, home to a military museum. Inland, laid-back sidewalk cafes and casual bars line tranquil streets.
This is a walk along Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue.

After Praya d'em Bossa in Ibiza my second fafourite beach!! Does anyone know why most brazillians try to systematicly "pull you away" from there? Why is there so much hate for the copacabanna by brazilians? Only because of tourism? And this overprotective behaviour is annoying. The only dangerous thing on this beach is thiefs. But when you leave your values at home and only take a bit of cash nothing will happen. I am there nearly every year and i am tired of these discussions. Quite the opposite: These lonley beaches without this "hated tourism" where they want you to go are more dangerous because these beaches are
- poorly guarded
- thiefs feel more save there
- less/ no police
...
I can tell you don't let yourself ruin the fun. Copacabanna is an awesome place despite tourism. Ad in the fact tourism at copacabanna is an important income for the City! Without tourism poverty would only increase!
