Always loved series one because of the old Wool tunics and yellow trousers, alongside the appliances just being red with no sufficient markins. Bygone era I get to revisit watching this show. Thanks for uploading good sir
I USED TO LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING THIS PROGRAMME ONCE A WEEK...HAD ME GRIPPED ON THE EDGE OF ME CHAIR....LOVED GEORGE....THANK YOU FOR DOWNLOADING THESE CLIPS I DO ENJOY....
this was the best series we had now all weve got is womens ones and things like eastender and home and away can we please have londons burning back as it was the only desent thing on the tv .?.
London's burning is one of my favorites.wish the public television station would play the series over here in the states. I would love to add London's burning to my collection with Emergency.
I laughed for a week the first time I saw this episode on TV at 1:55 when Tate yells down the stairs at the top of his voice, "Some bastards vandalised the water outlet!" Another great 'Tate moment' was when Charisma gets a girlfriend & she styles his hair for him. The next morning at work Tate sees him and proudly tells him he "....looks like a right bender! Get it sorted!"
Yeah but they were lethal when exposed to extreme heat, hence why they changed them the following few years. Leggings and gloves literally melted and fused to their skin 😵💫
Best episode was when Ronald set a warehouse on fire, and Shadow didn't notice the drums of phosphorous. Lit him up so bright, left his shadow on the wall.
The fire department has manual override keys that let them control the lift. They take it to a floor or two below the fire. The lift allows them to get crews and hoses up to the fire floor quickly.

I believe the fire department has override keys which allow them to manually control the elevators, so they can expedite moving crews and equipment up to the staging area. They then take the stairs the last few floors to where the fire is.
@@Zackislivid both take a chill pill lol. people think of fireman sam when they see this because the old uniform. pontypandy HAS to be out of regulation using stuff from the eighties eh? xD
They likely didn't know about it until they yeeted them out of the lift and the reason you shouldn't use the lift is that the fire brigade need to use them.
This fire kit is completely outdated and not practical. The gloves and leggings melt in a fire, tunic soaks in a lot of water, no proper protection for the head.
A retired firefighter friend of mine spent some time with the LFB while researching a book and he said that they were made of wool. I Can't begin to imagine how uncomfortable and unpleasant that might have been!
FB51 until some bright spark created nomex the most fire retardant materials you could wear were wool and leather and was used for firefighter turnout gear for decades many fire departments in America and Canada still use helmets made of hardened leather neither wool nor leather will melt or support a flame
Thanks. Was there any explanation of what exactly was done to the valves on the standpipe (aka dry risers)? Hallam just says they've been vandalized, but we don't see exactly what was done. On another floor, it looks like all the water Bayleaf is pumping is gushing out somewhere else and down the stairs. Was anything shown about that? Don't suppose you have a clip? :-D
It turns out that the valve on the lower floor had been yanked off by some prat and the water pressure went through that particular pipe hand hadn't reached the one above and when Hallam opens the one above there was no water pressure coming through and guessed that it was vandals then Tony says that the one below is gushing water, well that what i think anyways cheers - bread guy
Back then it was considered normal and some buildings today still have "fire lifts" in which the fire service would use to haul up the gear. However due to health and safety theyre now illegal to use and have to use the stairs
I like the fire engine it is good to have one and the fire fighters are good I have 4fire engines and pirate ships and toy motor homes and toy cars and toy caravans and toy yachts and toy boats and two norrow boats I am makeing a cardboard one norrow boat and a cardboard yacht and a the holiday when I get back home from being away my dad is takeing me on my norrow boat and I am going on the the norrow boat again

I mean it could have been beacuse you need a shit tone of water to charge a dry riser and you cant do that whilst constanly looking at you tank so it just to free hands mainly the drivers/pump op
When a series changes its theme tune you know its past its peak. Happened with other favourites like Grange Hill and to a lesser extent The Bill

Ah yes, the Tart, her name was Donna weren't it?
@John Arat this comment was from 9 years ago
Miss those old Shelvokes Pump Escape SPV.
They was good machine until the Dennis rs came along. That was the one I drove the most
this is asome and it is just like FIREMAN SAM
Shelbie Carter, nah better
Exept from play dou and tinfoil for water
I can't imagine fireman sam having language like
Shit it's been vandalised
SOME BASTARD'S VANDALISED THE OUTLET
My brother when I used to watch this asked me if that was real life fireman Sam
How classy those Firefighters looked back then, with the coat XD
Yeah but they were lethal when exposed to extreme heat, hence why they changed them the following few years. Leggings and gloves literally melted and fused to their skin 😵💫
George reminds me of Elvis because of his Fireman's outfit and black hair
Hard to believe that this was about 30 years ago!
1988. Long time ago now.
And in 88 they had to monitar on set radiation particals from the chernobyl
I know. years have flown man.
Where's Fireman Sam when you need him.
Wasn’t on time there, was he?
He would have been there with Elvis, Penny and Trevor
One of the Shevolke fire engines could be Jupiter
@@jamiegreenwood4159 I like that idea. Also, Ellie and Arnold can be there too with Station Officer Steele and Chief Fire Officer Boyce.
Of course

Thats Backdraft man.
😂
and they have the same uniforms in the classic series of fireman sam
Yes that was standard during the 80s to early 90s. I was disappointed at the time when they changed it but it looks dated now
First London's burning video I have ever seen years ago!
I thought this was live action Fireman Sam at first
Haha me too because I thought it was Fireman Sam In Action Pantomime

"THIS IS NO JOB FOR AN EXTINGUISHER !!!!!"
Charlzey1998, I believe what he said was: "This is a *nice* job for an extinguisher!" He was being sarcastic as it so obviously was not.
Charlzey1998 it's because they didn't have the hoose
@@BigBoy527 they had didn't have lines up yet since the air vent was shut since someone blocked it
Without a working dry riser it's all they had till they could haul the hose up there
they dont go the floor thats reported with the fire, they go to the one underneath it and make it the rest by stairs...
What episode (no need the series)
Episode 1
Not to be comfused with the pilot
I remember when they filmed this it was in prince regents lane Canning Town must be over 30 years ago now
This is what mainly made me choose firefighting for my future career
just noticed that on these early Londons Burning series you never see any use of fireground radios..
that's because the one person in the lift and one at the top giving information to the other in the lift
Why are their using the lift when your not ment to use the lift during a flat fire?
They likely didn't know about it until they yeeted them out of the lift and the reason you shouldn't use the lift is that the fire brigade need to use them.
James Marcus (SO Tate) died last week aged 82.
Funny how the amount of likes on this video is '999', the emergency service number you would need for the fire brigade.
They'll be getting a big fine for having a broken riser!
Vaseline is my fav he funny
Um I think these uniforms are better than modern ones

Pretty amazing that this video has reached 1 million views

Never use hose or fire small thing on gas fires there could be risk of explosion and also more fire
I have seen this episode, the fire was caused by a small heater setting clothing alight on a clothes rack.
