    America's atheists need David Silverman. If AA doesn't bring him back, another organization definitely should. He's one of "the Mighty" in the atheist community, and we need to bring him back up. It's great that AA uploaded this video. Atheists in the US are taking a serious beating under the current administration. David Silverman is one of very few talented people who can help. Let's support him! More videos, debates, speaking engagements, book tours, conferences, rallies, TV appearances, podcasts, billboard campaigns, and anything else David is willing to do to support atheism--Now! Before the 2018 elections, please!

      How easy it is for skeptics to forget that EVIDENCE should be required in order to believe an extrordinary claim. 🤪
      Why would ANYONE want to censor a speaker? Thats some bullshit. 🤬

    I was once asked the question "Do you want to be happy or right?" In other words, wouldn't I rather live in a deluded state of mind that goes along with the customs and beliefs of tribal community than to actually know what is reality. This of course assumes that the delusion could make one happier than truth. Since I've been in both states of mind in my lifetime, I cannot conceive of adopting the deluded state of mind again regardless of whether it would be happier and/or healthier. I do think that having community is what makes one feel happier and that's why I am happy that atheists are creating that community that all humans need to thrive. No gods needed.

    Those accusations against David are between him and his accuser and it is up for a court of law to determine his fate not us the public.

    • @xdassinx
      @xdassinx 6 лет назад +6

      No, most of the accusations aren’t even court worthy. Some are downright bullshit even if they’re taken at face value. And the public didn’t decide.
      It is most certainly up to the organization to decide, and that’s what happened.
      David made a big deal of AA’s zero tolerance harassment policy during this very convention. He basically created his own trap.
      Silverman’s contribution is immeasurable. He did an awesome job, he will be missed.

    • @SailingSeignior
      @SailingSeignior 6 лет назад +3

      thebatmanover9000,
      Not really, if you mean whether or not Silverman should have kept his job.
      If an organization finds someone that represents that organization to no longer be a viable representative of it then the organization should get rid of him/her. Public opinion matters quite a bit actually.
      In terms of possible criminal or civil action, yes, the courts are the ones that decide things like that. Innocence until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt and a preponderance of the evidence are used rather than public opinion. American Atheists is neither a criminal or civil court, though. If you damage or may likely damage an organization’s reputation, it can get rid of you.
      American Atheists did the right thing in this case, with the information that I have gathered.

    • @HarryNicNicholas
      @HarryNicNicholas 5 лет назад

      all religions are the same, tony benn said "look at how we treat refugees because if they could that's how your government would treat you" and it's the same using the word religion, when it had the power catholicism had the inquisition and it killed, burned alive, people in droves, if god said "kill atheists" what do think "moral christians" would do? religion is sick, vile and a lie and needs to go. to think "oh buddhists are really nice people though" take a look at what even buddhists have for their religion. it may have "only been self harm" but pouring petrol over yourself and lighting the match is every bit as misguided at burning at the stake. and bear in mind it won't be god saying "kill whoever" it will be some bloke who says he's gods spokesman. religion is myth and it has to go.
