My best friend of 42 years died today at the age of 59. She had kept me sane during this very trying time with my husband, who is dying of cancer. I feel so overwhelmed that I can barely breathe. Transcendance seems like an illusion right now. Pain is physiological, but suffering is a whole new ballgame. How much suffering must one endure in this lifetime?
My mom died a few months ago. I took care of her until the very end - 3 months of slow dying. A month later, my closest friend entered hospice; don’t know how much time she has. My other friends have life-threatening illnesses. When I was going through those last months with my mom, it was beyond horrible. I prayed like I’ve never prayed before. I prayed to be able to sleep so I can take care of my mom. I prayed to be healthy so I could take care of her. I prayed for strength nonstop. I kept telling myself to rise to the occasion. I made it. It is still very hard with her gone, but I made it. Before that, I went through years and years of hard times. It is difficult to honor parents who were unreasonable but their behaviour also prevented you from getting spoilt instead become a better parent yourself. No need to hate them.
I struggle with the same issue, but am much much much younger, in the first quarter of life, and I have to learn to forgive them, otherwise, why should Jesus forgive me? People go to hell for forgiveness they say, because the greatest gift of all that we for now see, is forgiveness, so that we are ABLE to have a relationship, with God, the Father, through acquisition or occurence of the testimony of obedience we attain through trust and forgiveness and turning from the old self, through Jesus and what he did for us on the cross, making us into a new creation. Through this, I would simplify things by saying, we show appreciation for what God has done for us, by honoring the sacrifice of the Father who loved the world so, THAT the Father gave his only begotten son that we may have A RELATIONSHIP with him, through Jesus Christ. At least this is my current way of viewing things.

Thank you rabbi. I was brought up catholic, but a strange thing, for a while I had some doubts and I have been praying to our God, the only God and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I don’t want to deviate from our true and only God. I really appreciate your wisdom. I love the teachings of Jesus. I don’t think he ever intended to create a new religion, just wanted to teach us love and wisdom. I think somewhere and with time his message was changed.
Thank you Rabbi. You provided information that is foreign to me in a manner that makes me think. So many answers to questions about life in one video. I have been feeling direction less. To be one with God has been a long time goal but few give steps to accomplish it. My mother passed last year. It brought the end to a relationship I don’t think I will ever truly understand. Peace in my life has become very important to me. I have been isolating not knowing what the next step to take is. I have forced myself to visit my daughter and help her with my new grandson a few times. Now I know why I feel better and more connected afterwards. I could continue with how your words can be applied to my life but instead I prefer to again say THANK YOU.
Great stuff as always, Near the end when you referred back to the 5 things to do; listing them again would have been awesome. Always appreciate your intel.
If someone really cannot find someone to talk to about their trauma/pain, studies show that the best alternative is to write it down. This can be done in a journal or elsewhere. You can throw the writing away, you don’t have to keep it or read it over; the purpose is to do the action of writing. This allows your mind to get perspective and step slightly away from the pain, in order to form sentences and write about your feelings and experience. It is truly one of the best ways that has been found, aside from talking about it to a skilled listener who can validate your feelings. It doesn’t have to be a long bit of writing; a page or two will do. Just be sure to write about how you feel, as well as what happened. Be sure to do this step well and thoroughly before attempting transcendence. “Getting beyond it” requires that you don’t suppress your feelings, but be sure to express and feel seen/heard; otherwise, trying to transcend will be avoidance, which won’t actually work. I love this emphasis on the purity of every soul, and the recognition that we can identify with healing instead of with being wounded. (This is the opposite of the idea of original sin. Please know that original sin is not a Jewish idea. It is not biblical; Adam and Eve sinned, and humans are born into a world with challenges; but our souls are not “fallen”; we have the capacity to choose good, as we read in Genesis. In Judaism, God gives every person a pure soul, and although we sometimes make mistakes or go astray, we can always remember that ultimately, we are made in the image and likeness of God, as it also says in Genesis.)
I have been learned that to have mazl, you need to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right wisdom to know how to act. Every time I listen to you I feel so blessed to be a student! Thank you for enlightening us.. ( Please forgive me if I use satire in some of my comments. it’s not towards you. I’m just getting tired of people who promote their luft gesheft in the section to trick others.
Thank you Rabbi Simon Jacobson. I live in America, and I wish more people had your wisdom. In my views, when we are faced with problems of any nature, we have to be psychologically strong. The problem may be health related, job related and/or for some individuals problems in childhood.

This is a really brilliant and very helpful shiur. Thank you, Rabbi.
Rabbi thank you so much
Great stuff as always, Near the end when you referred back to the 5 things to do; listing them again would have been awesome. Always appreciate your intel.
Thank you Rabbi Jacobson...I needed to hear this today (4/8/2023)...God Bless 😊😊
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.
Thank you Rabbi
Thank you for encouraging me and others!
Thank you Rabbi, you are very much appreciated ❤
You are such a wise soul❤
I love this Rabbi ,your messages are always so full of truth.
May you feel the fullness of love.
Love to you
Thanks Rabbi Simon Jacobson! ❤❤❤
