Why do people always say "unfortunately, it has a bolt on neck"? Did no one ever tell them that Fender made Billions selling guitars with bolt on necks.
@@tylerskott4903 I prefer bolt on because you get way more adjustability out of it. Especially if buying a used one that has clearly had moisture exposure. A truss rod can only do so much
I picked one up last week, and I haven't put it down since. It sounds way better than it should be for the price. Extra special since it's a lefty and they rarely show up used.

Those amps are awesome, but wow, getting that guitar for basically 20 dollars is an incredible deal! And a banged up guitar just gives it more character :)

I bought my LP 100 in 2016. Went into Guitar center for a strat and walked out with the LP. I paid at least $600 though with the $100 fender Amp they always have. All told I think I spent $1000. Hey big Jake, i have some great news for you! They do in fact come the full size pots. However with excessive use can wear out quic and most times the taper of the tone and volume knobs isn't very precise and in turn giving you very limited adjustability. Im not sure if those are the original Epiphone pots or not but to be sure i would replace them with some quality Gibson pots wired the old Gibson way with some upgraded pickups. The ceramics are ok but alnico5's are way better especially when they are properly wax potted. Good video man and like you said no one really goes in depth on this model and im surprised because it's basically as close to a standard as you can get. I have the same exact LP100 that I paid $100 from the original owner back in 2012, I think it’s a 2008 or 2009 model. I bought that from the girl and also a laney lv200 combo amp all for $100. It’s been one of my favorites, and I got it because just like you said, I had a korina epiphone explorer with gold hardware and pickups and I sold it for $200 and have regretted it ever since
I bought one of these when I couldn’t afford a standard back in 2016 and felt at the time I downgraded but wanted a Les Paul Guitar again. It needed new tuners and a proper setup and then became I really good guitar and I like the pickups. I regretfully sold it a few years ago when I wasn’t really playing much Electric anymore and wish I had’ve kept it but thankfully Epiphone have just re issued it so I might get another one even though I’ve got a better Les Paul now.
You've a lot to say with and without the guitar. Super interesting talk, I had a really good time hearing how you find value on an instrument. Great video
I found a Studio LT for $80 at a pawn shop, the tones didn't seem to work. I put big pots in for the volume and some push-pulls for the tones and a set of Wilkerson Zebra pickups and split them. I use 50's style wiring for some awesome tone.
Never owned an LP style guitar until this one, bought without trying just cause it was super cheap and in my experience, a good setup can mitigate a lot (and I live in NYC, where there are a lot of great luthiers and shops.) Bottom line, it was a little janky from the box as in the pickguard wasn't screwed on right, jack had no washer (!) but I didn't really care. Took it to a local shop for a setup, dude looked inside and was like, hahaha no way I'm letting this thing leave here with this jack and switch, he threw them in for very cheap and when I came back a few hrs. later, he was like, 'Dude, I'm surprised, see what you think.' And I'll be damned, this thing GROWLS, it's mean, I think the combo of the scale length and the bolt-on neck AND the high output ceramics give it a real cool sound kinda similar to a really rockin' TV Yellow LP jr, and it can also do nice rock n' roll and everything in between (pickup weakness is the neck/tone down isn't quite as stereotypically les paulish) but I really like this guitar, I honestly do, and it's so cheap. The tech was playing it at the bench and was like, damn this thing is pretty awesome for what you paid. Takeaway it's rad, get it, and if you don't setup a guitar when you buy it (as I did for my teens and early twenties) you're just making life hard.
Agreed on all points! This guitar shocked me when I first tried it. I also absolutely agree that the first thing to do when buying a guitar is setting it up and changing the strings immediately!
I absolutely would. This thing is incredible and blows all the Squier Bullets I've tried to pieces(besides the Bullet Mustang, that one is amazing). It definitely scratches that Les Paul itch. It feels and sounds like a Les Paul in every way but the weight. Be warned, though: if you buy this, you will fall in love with it and start looking for a Standard or Studio :P
That was my first single cut electric guitar I got for 125 and it was in excellent condition. Sold it to get Epi Studio LT and which was a stupid move. Got rid of as soon as I can and I’ve settled with the Studio smokehouseburst color
I have an Epiphone 60's reissue Les Paul standard. I like it, but I really love my Firefly FFLPS Nature Burl. It does sound very good although a little microphonic but so is the Epiphone. Thanks for the video Jake 😉 👍!

The body is definitely thick enough and good quality. The best comparison is a Les Paul Studio. It’s a bit thinner and lighter than a Les Paul Standard body, but it feels very solid and is well made.

That's a fantastic question. If you just want to practice at home and don't know what you want yet, get a cheap, used Fender Mustang I. They can be found on GuitarCenter.com for less than 70ish dollars and come with a ton of amp models and effects. They don’t make them anymore, and the newer version(the Mustang LT25) is a bit confusing to operate for beginners. It would be a great starter amp and you can learn what you like, so when you upgrade down the road you'll know exactly what to go for. The controls aren’t exactly straightforward, but with some fiddling and research you can get some great sounds out of it. If you don’t want digital modeling and want something straight to the point and simple to use, old Peavey amps are amazing for your purposes-the Rage 158 and Blazer come to mind. They are small and perfect for practicing at home. The older ones are better and are no longer made, but they can be found regularly for less than 50 dollars. Lastly, if you wanna bring out the big guns, go for the Peavey Bandit. It’s very heavy, and VERY loud, but it’s unbreakable and one of the best non-tube amps ever made. If you know you’ll stick with it long term it could be a fantastic investment. I can also recommend the Fender Frontman 65R or 212R. They aren’t as good as the Bandit, but they would be great amps too that are on the larger, louder side of the spectrum. Each of those would run less than 300(200 if you look for a bit) dollars. Like the others, they are no longer made, so you’d have to find them used. They do make new Bandits, but they are made in China and aren’t as good as the older ones..they also cost 500 dollars new, and that just ain’t worth it when you can get a better amp for half that on the used market. Hopefully that helps :)
Very hard to say without playing each of them. Korea’s quality control was all over the place in the 90s. Some were incredible and others were absolutely horrific. The later Indonesian model you mentioned would probably be my choice if I had to pick without playing them. By then, Gibson had much better quality control and consistency in the Epiphone line. It’s a gamble, so if you feel like playing the lottery, go for the Korean one. If you wanna play it safe and get something that will at least be decent, go for the Indonesian. If they are different colors, pick the color you like best and disregard the place of manufacture. That could help with a split decision :P
This was my 1st guitar in 2010. I still have it. It was super solid for what we bought it new at guitar center back in the day.

Great review and the outro was fantastic

Of course, I’m glad you liked it! These are fun guitars to mod and there are so many options for them :)
Good good good ! Very Nice at 12.30
Thank you so much!
hello! I'm a beginner and I just bought an LP100, what low budget amplifier do you recommend? Basically I want to practice at home
Is the LP100 thinner and lighter than "real" les pauls? Still have an arch top, or is it flat like cheaper special2?
Oh what a player!!
Thank you! I love this guitar and have since modded it in a newer video. It feels great in my hands and feel like it makes me play better! :P
How much money are these worth hand made in Indonesia
Estou querendo comprar uma pra mim. Acho uma baita guita mesmo sendo braço colado
Very interesting guitar, the rosewood board and the fit / finish make that LP very desirable
Thank you, I agree!
hi back, which is better a 1998 LP100 made in Korea or a 2012 LP100 made in Indonesia?
Made in Indonesia is the best..
Absolutely Indonesia. Hands down the best.
I just bought one on AMS less than $250 new
Just picked one of these up for $70
That's a great deal! This guitar definitely punches above it's weight!
So you’re american? Do you have Instagram and do you still have that guitar. It’s great
Brasso is fine
This is VERY hard to find lefty...
That seems to be the case with alot of models :(
