Throw the stats out, Manu is one of the best 2 guards in NbA history, he just valued winning instead of stats. Man was an absolute demon

The spurs “Tree” of players and coaches is one of the most impactful and influential in all sports, so many players turned coaches, or players that were grown in the system that changed NBA history

    • @wreck.create.MAK0

It’s true- modern basketball is all descended from their “dna” . Interestingly not the lakers or Miami or other so called dynasties but their culture and systems are what gms and coaches know were special

This makes so much sense. Derrick White and Manu’s off-ball offensive movement and defensive tendencies are so much alike.

  • @Greg-io1ip

Derrick White definitely matches Manu's hustle and all around game. Derrick was already like that all along but I'm guessing spacing and studying the opposition habits to take advantage of would be things he might pick up from Ginobili.
Ginobili is a Top 20 Best Basketball Player of all time. Fans forget that by the time Ginobili comes to the NBA as a rookie, he's a 27 year old guy with a bald spot who's won everything in South America, Europe and World Games championships out there. THEN he comes to San Antonio to add multiple championships in the NBA.
Probably nobody else will ever match his winning impact everywhere he went.
It rubbed off on Derrick, who was already a kindred spirit no doubt. 2 nice guys who are fan and teammate favorites.

if you watch d white, he always realizes a breakdown in c's defense (usually someone else's) and makes an attempt to recover, even if he's a step late in his contest--sometimes he gets there and it's a highlight block.
