  • Design hub provide how to check weld strength using solidworks simulation and decide well pass or not. in this simulation you learn about fillet weld ; groove weld ; single side double side ;

    Why did you convert the two plates to shells rather than leave them as solids?

      Because the simulation option only works with shell elements.
      If you try to do with solids, the program will not let you advance (it's a general explanation not in detail) .

      As it happens, I just completed the official Solidworks simulation fundamentals and simulation courses this week. To answer my own question, there's a few things to note here:
      1: These weld connectors are only available in Sim Pro (which I don't have!)
      2: Darova is right, this particular connector requires at least one shell or sheet metal body. In normal contact situations, they could have used solid bodies, but shells are more computationally efficient. (though it wouldn't have made much difference to a model this size)
      3: The general rule for when to use solids/thin shells/thick shells is found on page 305 of the sim training guide;
      Length/Thickness < 10 = Solids
      Length/Thickness between 10-20 = Thick Shells
      Length/Thickness >20 = Thin Shells

      can you please tell me the whole book name of sim training guide? thank you

      The book is a Dassault Systemes official training manual, which I believe you can only obtain from a Solidworks "VAR, Value Added Reseller" - The Order number is SW3559232 and the Part Number is PMT1740-ENG

    What is "define by shell"?

    Why fires my part with different geometry is asking for beam/shell connection? At the joints?

      +arturo0727 because welding connectors work only shell.type geometry

    How you can say pass or fail?

      We will make one separate video... Regarding that.

    Waste of time. Seems a lot of these creators are just copying steps from some guide or an incomplete video and not adequately explaining the process.
