One of the best purchases I have made for my car was a factory service manual and electrical schematics. Made life MUCH easier with getting mine back together.

Anyone who has actually done the work of combing out the wiring harness and looking through the wiring schematics to make a car run will truly appreciate this video because of all the troubleshooting involved....had to do it on my original ‘87 v6 t-bird I swapped a 5.0 out of a ‘90 mustang....not gonna lie this video would of saved me a day of work!

I had the same problem like a month ago fuel pump wouldnt prime no spark bought a new relay for the fuel pump still no fix bought an ecu relay still no fix traced the wiring harness for 3 days come to find out it was a bad ecu relay the parts store had sold me a faulty relay put another new one in it and it fired right up!! That ecu relay can cause all kinds of weird sh*t to happen man its unbelievable but glad to see you got your problem solved also and thanks for all the great content its coming along nicely keep up the good work cant wait to see it fire up

Yea I've always hated wiring i can do it but man it's a pain. My pops was always the one that did our wiring bc i hated it. Unfortunately hes gone and i cant rely on that any more. But i do have my cuz he likes messing with it so i usually call him over to "help" me and by that i mean do it for me. Lol

I've been trying to find a dash harness forever for a reasonable price. I see them pop up on eBay from time to time but I'm not paying $300+ for a used harness. I found an aftermarket one but it's only for aftermarket gauges🤬

Here’s a tip from a guy that deals with low voltage controls daily. When diagnosing a problem always get the wiring diagram and when you think you’ve identified the problem area start with where the component gets power and work your way through all the connectors, relays or whatever that circuit has in it testing for power at each step. Work your way from power to ground, leave no stone unturned.

Now you fully understand why I had a stroke that day you and Russell cut the orange and black wire on my car!!! Lol! By the way, up to ‘91 the relay is under the seat, I believe it was in ‘92 when they moved them under the hood.

I parked my 87 Mustang a year ago running. Now that I want to sell it, it will not start. I have a broken fuse link by the strut driver side. Green one side and different color on the other. I also have the brown and black wire with a butt connector going to nothing. It's been so long I can't remember what this stuff is. Does the brown and black wire go to ground or ignition power? The interesting thing is a have full pressure and sparkler but it will not start. It was running fine when I parked it. It has always started and this is the first time in 24 years.

Awesome, we are restoring an 88GT T-top at the moment and it's down to hooking the stuff up. I have a long block that was rebuilt that come out of a 90 I believe. The AC WOT shut off relay was in fact had exposed wires. We did not know what the relay was for. After watching this we now know. Great info. Of course we fixed the wiring with a new aftermarket harness. So hopefully we will get it all plugged up and see if she fires up, also see if the PCM will agree and work well with the Lunati cam and Holley heads lol. Thank you again for posting this, perfect time, we just fixed the relay harness in question this past weekend.

Just a quick tip when putting the harness through the firewall. The blower housing can be removed from the bottom of the AC box giving you much more room. Just three bolts. Two on the bottom and one behind the glove box. Pull those out, remove the blower housing and you will have tons of room!

On another note Fox bodies sure have a lot less wiring than the 3rd Gen. Camaro with the TPI there's 2 harnesses that come out of the computer probably a total of 40 wires on TPI.

I am having a fuel problem with my 88 lx the pump runs want shut off with key on I hit the Schrader valve and gas is coming out it seems very week the car will try to start but just want go my next step is the fuel pump glad you got it figured out man and you give me some good to know info on the wide open throttle. Relay also for some reason the previous owner had 2 wire's on it wired together dont know what that's about yet I unhooked them for the time being I already changed my ecm and man was that thing hard to locate used the reason I changed it out was because when I first got the car it had no spark so I pulled the pip spout and it had fire checked voltage on Orange wire on tps only had 3 volts reference signal but with used computer it has 5 volts now and will fire with the pip plugged back in I am hoping my problem is the fuel. Pump also I checked the red wire on thr injector with key on it has 12 volts 👍

I have an idea for some content. You mentioned that you needed to get a fusible link, could you incorporate that into a video of how to set up a fusible link. That’s something I lack the understanding of how to do, or the proper way to set up. I also don’t know how or when one should be used. I’m really good with electrical wiring on vehicles, but I can always learn more.

Dwell time in the coil in the beginning is there but once cranking coil saturation isn't taking place due to poor grounding. When key is turned off, there is a collapse of magnetic field producing the spark during shut off! Hard to diagnose when you're not there in person!

BUT what if my fox has power to the fuel pump, new starter, new solenoid, power @ IGN, solenoid, AND ECU but still will not start. I have checked with this video and the ECU is grounded, relay is fine, and power is where it should be. I am LITERALLY at a complete loss as to why my Fox will not even try to turn over. My car is stalling alot on take off I've changed everything but I think it's a ground wire somewhere that's either touching something or something is loose I really don't know 🤔

I just bought a 88 lx and it starts fine but after it warms up it wont re-start for hours, the battery is in the back of the car and supposedly it has a 200amp alternator I'm not sure but I'm wondering if maybe it's a timing issue or a weak starter or just something wrong with the battery
