【About Asian Small-clawed Otters】
First, otters are different from sea otters.
Sea otters spend most of their time in the water, but otters can live both on the ground and in water.
A few years ago, trafficking otters became a serious problem, and in 2019, CITES (Washington Convention) increased the classification of otters from CITESⅡ to CITES I, which banned international trade.
Having an otter as a pet is illegal in most countries. However, in Japan, otters can be traded, although it is limited to domestic breeds only.
Currently, severe restrictions are in place for buying and selling otters in Japan. For example, microchips need to be inserted in both babies and parents, and owners need a special permit. Circumstances of birth must also be reported in detail.
As a result, there is currently no buying and selling of baby otters in the market. There is a severe penalty for selling and buying otters with unknown birth origins without permits. This was effective in eliminating trafficking, and we don’t see otter trafficking on the news anymore.
Kotaro and Hana were both born in Japan and have permits.
It is so much work to have an otter as a pet. You need to be ready for more than its cuteness. They are loud, and they sometimes bite you. Food and water get very expensive, and you cannot keep otters in cages because they are active. Also, we never leave them at home. We always look after them closely like we do with human children, and our top priority is always them.
If you want to have an otter as a pet, you must be able to follow the law and devote your life to it. If you don’t have that resolve, you should never have one as a pet.

恐竜の着ぐるみ脱いだとたん膝の上で甘えたハナ可愛すぎ💕
最初は驚いてソファーの下に一目散に逃げたりしてたコタローとハナちゃんの反応も可愛いかったけど、歩く後ろ姿や階段上ったり掃除機かけたりしてるのを見ている内に恐竜も可愛く思えてきた😁
『ティラノザウルス』に扮した(の気ぐるみを着た)パパさんにビックリしたコタローちゃんとハナちゃんが、椅子の下に隠れて避難する姿がとても可愛い❤です

意外でした😯ハナちゃんの方が食べ物につられて飛び付いて来るかと思ったら慎重派のコタちゃんの方が先に恐竜さんの手から受け取って普通に食べ始めましたね。とうちゃんの振り切り方にottermanとはまた違った本気度を感じます✨こんな風に遊んでくれるとうちゃんを持ったコタハナちゃんは幸せだ😍💖いったい何処から調達して来るんでしょ。階段で足を踏み外さないかハラハラしましたぞ。でも、楽しかった～💕
父ちゃん、お茶したり寝そべったり掃除機かけたりは恐竜脱いでからにして下さい。異様過ぎる😂🤣🤣

That was amazing! Kotaro may have figured out it was dad in the T-Rex costume first but he never really was sure about it. And I never thought I'd see Hana turn down food but that costume did it. That costume had those clever otters confused until you took it off. And Hana was so relieved to see her dad. It was so cute!

Сначала был просто ужас! Как они быстро спрятались под диван, это было очень забавно! Я бы тоже испугался этого тиранозавра! Но Котаро и Хана быстро поняли, что в костюме это их любимый папочка!!! Как они были рады, что папа снял этот костюм! Радость была огромная, и Хана сразу улеглась на колени получать сеанс массажа!!! Очень интересный ролик! Папуле респект за позитивный настрой!!! 👍🤗

Very cool. I am so fascinated by these two loving souls. They seem innocently curious & brave. I don't believe it's only because they smell dad because we've seen them be open to other creatures and situations. (Except Ui and Hanna in the beginning lol ) My take has always been Hana & Kotaro are very sweet because they've been treated with love. I can tell Hanna & Kotaro daddy and mom made them feel very safe from day 1. I love watching these videos, 🤗 thank you for sharing the love 🤍
I just love how they run full speed and slide right under the couch!!! They tuck their little front arms under their chest and just slide like they are on ice!!
