Where's a bear trap when you need one?
A section of eight inch wide board with a bunch of nice 3" to 3 1/2" inch sharp nails driven through the board and dipped in dog shit then camouflaged under the windows pointy side up, might make for a good alarm when you hear the screaming. The robbers are easier to catch up to then, ... just saying. Look for Mr. HopAlong.
I've weaponized "airbags" out of cars but nothing lethal, ... yet.
AND! I'm looking at capacitors from old microwaves as reusable tasers, ... two bare wires on the sill they are reaching for as they try to climb into your home is all it takes.
Being rural I've looked at all the sneaky ways to approach the house so I know where the Viet Cong foot traps will go. Once the foot goes into that hole in the ground, they have a real hard time extracting it without a lot of damage and pain. Mr. HopAlong! I know you long time!
The only thing I don't like about booby traps is the possibility of trapping the innocent. I'd never hear the end of it if the mailman got into my bear trap let alone some neighbours kid.
BUT! After a serious long term SHTF event, .. all bets and thoughts of decency are off. If the "No Trespassing" signs don't work, what can they say?
I would forget all that crap with a couple of well trained yard dogs.
I'd have to get them young and start walking the grounds peeing on every bush and rock we come across and in a week or two, they know what's theirs to protect.
Heck, it even works with older dogs, ... but it's easier with the young ones.
The thing is, any kind of dog here is a commodity you must pay for. And the money they want is ridiculous. Even the mutts.

@@PreparednessVeteran I have a couple sharp black very pointy "things" that commandos are issued that would come in handy in an "society's all gone catastrophically wrong, nobody is coming, nobody will help" scenario. I'd hope that day never comes but if it does and they break in, it's me or them and I'll choose me & my family every time.

Imagine that guy coming back and meeting you!!! Messing with your lovely parents is a good way to make you mad. Bad idea. Seriously though, yeah. The future is now. Less prepping and planning and more doing. I am so glad your parents are safe. The real dangerous ones are the ones who enter while people are home.
Absolutely. Just spent a further week installing security systems all over their place and educating them of the realities of life now. They, just like many others, are too trusting and complacent.

I feel sorry for you guys for not being able to have personal recourse to stop people like this, or confront them. This why I'm moving down to Texas, they've got some the best home defense and self defense laws in the states.
We have the complete lawful ability to self protect and confront, many people here just do not know the law.

Yeah, hopefully it's a wake-up call for the parents. Unfortunately, shock tactics don't work. They are in serious denial, until next time or escalation.
I have motion detection lights. Up until now they have stopped the early hours crowd approaching my home but fear that won't work when shtf. Have a good guard dog, wouldn't be without him. They do come back. A friend has the same person try his car door almost every night. Think the crims treat it light a milk round.
Well, that dude failed no success there and that is good and i hope that the footage are send to the police and i hope it is also reported.
He also gained entry into a house nearby.
Multiple videos and many photos of his face were taken as he made his way around the village and sent to the police. He was questioned and released without action.
He basically got away with it.
I heard he got a good beating from someone later though.
