I found the one in the Leyndell outskirts to be actually fun due to the open arena and usage of torrent. It’s awkward how they put most of them into a small room.
Then you finally beat em and get rewarded with no item and 20k runes (you lost 200k dying in the fight). Which I think is literally what happened with the extra way too hard lake of rot one, they couldn’t even be fucked to give us anything useful for putting up with it
For the Elphael encounter I always simply run back up the tree branches where it can't reach you and shoot it to death, preferably with fire. I have a great distaste for enocunters that want to make me fight in scarlet rot pools.
And if I'm not mistaken, there are... 4? Bossfights that require you to fight in scarlet rot pools, and 2 of those are tree spirits. The last would be Dragonkin Soldier and a cave boss (don't remember which).
@@markopusic8258 The boss in the Abandonend Cave has a Scarlet Rot pool, but there's also enough land to fight the two Cleanrot Knights safely. The single Cleanrot Knight boss you fight in an earlier cave forces you to fight in a poison pool, which is much less of a hassle.
It might be a controversial take but i love the ulcerated tree spirit, i think it is one of the best bosses in the game, super satisfying to dodge, clear but unique timings and cool animations.
I agree! I like them a lot, but I kind of understand why people hate, having many of them in small arenas where is hard to read their moves doesn't help, but aside from that, their attacks are cool and you can approach them in many ways, specially the ones in the open world.
Its worth mentioning that the Ulserated Tree Spirit you find in Stormveil actually has a more limited moveset than all of the other versions you find in the game, since it will never perform the grab attack. Admittedly, this makes it more annoying than the other ones since the grab is one of the biggest openings you get for damage in the other fights, but... eh, it's at least interesting
The Tree Spirit in the Haligtree is easy for mages. Just agro him and jump back to the trunks overlooking the area and he won't be able to hit you. So you can just shell the shit out of him while he's stuck in a walking animation.
I will be honest, probably the hottest of takes: I love Ulcerated Tree Spirits, and one that gave me the most satisfaction was unironically the one in Haligree. So, firstly, I quite like their moveset. It's good, and out of various beast/huge type enemies throughout Soulsborne, these are probably the most readable. I'm not exactly sure why, but they have very readable body movement, unique for each attack - so even if you don't know what their upper part is doing, you can react just fine based on their body. The combat flows surprisingly well once you know the tells, and it feels good. And secondly, the Haligree. The scarlet rot was kinda cheap, but honestly? At that point of the game, you had plenty of time to play, to learn, and likely killed several Tree Spirits on the way. This one felt like the ultimate check of how well you understand their moveset. That's why when I fought him, I fought normally, and the rot was the only damage I was taking. Only on occasion I had to heal instead of doing an attack, but it was a damn fun fight regardless, especially seeing how far I have progressed to be so fluent in this fight.
I never really minded them as a boss fight, my only problem is their size causes their animations to blend in together which makes it difficult to know what attacks are coming to dodge accordingly
My conspiracy theory is that there’s so many tree spirits throughout the game because it was an unused ds3 boss/enemy they liked too much not to use (Zullie the witch made a video about the audio files and shape from ds3 promotional posters being identical)
I'm fully convinced that stuff like the Grand Cloister Tree Spirit and almost every Red Wolf copypasted onto the map are just a cruel joke the devs are placing on us.
OK! The Avatars, and the Tree Spirits are out. I wonder IF There are gonna be More Videos Like that... Who Next... Of Course We Do Have Options. Like Watchdogs, Magmawyrms, Dragonkin Soldiers, Dragons, Tree Sentinels (5 of them with 4 BOSS Fights). Night's Cavalry, Death Bird, Death Right Bird, Banished Knights, Bell Berring Hinters, Black Knife Assassin, Bloodhound Knight, Warden Duelists, Crucible Knights, Gargoyles, Blak Blades too. And Falling Star Beasts. Maybe and some Trolls and Golems. Probably and some Other Offers, But for now That is All I Can Remember for now.
Poison Mist is easily the most based cheese tool in the game. I love using at the start of the game to build my character with gear that would be otherwise unfeasible to get at the beginning Heres a list of some notable targets you can get with it O'Niell Greyoll Draconic Tree Sentinel (Both variants) Double Leyndell Tree Sentinels Moongrum windmill godskin apostle Mt. Gelmir Tree Spirit Any standing idle crucible knights basically any organic being standing idle in the overworld is exploitable, its awesome!
I killed the Number 10 by sniping the Kindred from afar with Frenzied Burst, then summoned my Mimic, let him tank, and spammed sorceries at it. Mostly Rykard's Rancor.
At this point I can't even tell with certainty, if I met the Tree Spirits in the Ashen Capital during my three playthroughs. Well, my last playthrough is like ages ago. I assume, you can fight them after finishing the game.
The grand cloister is the only one that I also didn’t bother with, my favourite is the one found in the elphael rot pool and yes I cheesed it 😂 thank goodness for that branch.
I sighed when I saw this video was 18 minutes long and it’s just ulcerated tree spirits. I hate these things and I’m so upset there’s so many. Love the content though👏😂
Soo just beat the Elphael ulcerated tree spirit.. on the second try. Gravity magic completely melts them. So if youre running a caster build, just get a good vantage and spam Meteorite or Astel’s Meteorite at them. Youll be swimming in golden seeds , trust me
It is such a shame poisons like rot are so annoying in video games, they are awesome in TTRPGs it is such fun lore. I have a form of glass that is more magic the more it harms you. If it burns the hell out of your skin it going to enhance your power, if it just feels like glass it will do nothing. The rot being this ultra-important part of lore but so annoying is such a shame.
They're all F tier, except maybe for the ones in Lake of Rot and Elphael which are F-. What a God awful enemy design. So apparently they're the revival of a DS3 boss design that was dropped during development, and indeed I think it looks and moves a lot like a reskinned giant Pus of Man. I bet it was too bad for DS3, but for Elden Ring it had to do because they had to fish out anything that was still lying around in the rubbish bin, so yeah that checks out. Is it obvious I don't like these things?
Already did a video ranking the games based on overall soundtrack, though I do plan to do more in-depth videos focusing on specific themes in the future.
I feel like for many, the first UTS you encounter will be your favorite. For me, that was the Stormveil Castle one (I didn't go to Fringefolk Hero's Grave til much later), and I'm so glad it was for the exact same reasons you gave. It felt like a unique reward for exploring Stormveil in depth and the Godwyn reveal afterwards was just the icing on the cake.
They’re all tied for last if you ask me
Agreed, fuck these things

Hell yeah, can we get a Knights Cavalry ranking next?

Totally agree, the Mt. Gelmir and Stormveil variants are the only ones I like to fight, for the same reasons. I usually avoid all the others.

0:46 "We love scarlet rot in this house, that was a lie" less than a minute in, and there's already some banger jokes
My conspiracy theory is that there’s so many tree spirits throughout the game because it was an unused ds3 boss/enemy they liked too much not to use (Zullie the witch made a video about the audio files and shape from ds3 promotional posters being identical)
The Grand Cloister one is offensive 😭
I'm fully convinced that stuff like the Grand Cloister Tree Spirit and almost every Red Wolf copypasted onto the map are just a cruel joke the devs are placing on us.
I love that you went with a silly idea, W content creator
Madman! :D You actually made this ranking! XD

Did you know that the elphael tree spirit can be stealth cheesed with poison mist
Poison Mist is easily the most based cheese tool in the game. I love using at the start of the game to build my character with gear that would be otherwise unfeasible to get at the beginning

Love your souls videos brother. Thanx
Insane video

Had I known a video like this would be up about Elden Ring long before launch, I'd be so disappointed...
re: millicent's uts, what runback? there's a grace in the very next room?
At this point I can't even tell with certainty, if I met the Tree Spirits in the Ashen Capital during my three playthroughs. Well, my last playthrough is like ages ago. I assume, you can fight them after finishing the game.
How has rusty not done this yet?
The grand cloister is the only one that I also didn’t bother with, my favourite is the one found in the elphael rot pool and yes I cheesed it 😂 thank goodness for that branch.
next ranking all crucible knights?
I sighed when I saw this video was 18 minutes long and it’s just ulcerated tree spirits. I hate these things and I’m so upset there’s so many. Love the content though👏😂

My most proud kill is the haligtree rl1 kill on tree spirit.
The leyndel tree spirit was the first one I encountered, it was terrifying. Also, why did you have to talk about engvall like that :(
When he is an ulcerated tree spirit 👄
And he is putrid 👁👄👁🔥
next video: ranking all elden ring bs attacks/ all endings
Erdtree burial watchdogs when??
Tree sentinels next?
Why is almost every tree enemy a tree spirit or avatar. They do seem to reuse a lot of enemies
Thank god
Blast! You have just caused yourself servere mental anguish take a break from such silly goose rankings!
Can they all be rated last? 😂

Their movesets really aren't that bad
love all the xenoblade music 👍🏽
Xenoblade 3 really came out with some of the best bangers.
@@BillySYT 2 is probably my favorite ost in the series but every game has a goated ost regardless
Another Rusty ahh video
I'll never forget the first time fighting one of these inside the hero's grave, such a great moment.
Oh no! What comes next? A ranking of all sites of grace?
Trick Question: They are all F Tier, but the Scarlet Rot Pond Haligtree one is below F, it is Shadow Realm tier.
If it wasn't for the fact that I love these guys, I would've detested the bottom placement.
Huh, I didn't even know there was a tree spirit in the grand cloister.
Bruh this concept is the funniest shit ever cuz like, f them all 😂
Don't forget the fight on gelmir can be done on torrent wich makes it much more epic first time!
You actually don't need to fight the tree spirit to get the giant crusher, if you are fast you can just run in and get it
I might be the only one who likes these things. Deadass my fave boss/elite enemy in the entire game
billy youre awesome sauce
You should rank ost from the different fromsoft games!
