It's great advice, my only issue is when encountering a legitimately unsportsmanlike player, they cut you off, no space, break check, running you off the track. It's so difficult to disconnect and not get emotionally involved, because someone is breaking the code of honor. Makes me angry just thinking about it actually.
I hear you Ash! Yeah there are times when it becomes difficult not to retaliate against some of the idiots out there who don’t understand actual racing 👎
I hear you too Ash, but once you retaliate there is no chance you get a clean race. Better to stick behind bide your time keep the pressure up and let them make the mistake. If you have pace over they will make a mistake and you can get around them cleanly and usually get a gap on them to where you dont have to worry anymore. Sometime retaliation is the only option but its better if you dont for sure.
@@alabama3415 totally agree, some players egos just cant handle being overtaken. Honestly I need to focus more on the actual act of racing, rather than trying to beat opponents at all cost. I love the hobby, but sometimes a person with no self control can really ruin an evening
I usually try to avoid them as hard as possible. You can even let him pass so he can bother someone else. And it often works. When he ruins race for 2-3 drivers ahead of you then you can take their places😅
Daily race C this week has been great for my DR rating. I was a D rated driver on Monday and a B rated driver by Wednesday. Starting from the back and avoiding penalties was all I had to do. Especially when people didn’t realise they had to use Medium tyres.
Biggest risk to your DR/SR is the first corner of the race. The funnel mayhem has caught me so many times. Glad you commented on it. I wish there was more awareness from other drivers instead of the "Black Friday" simulation.
Very true 👍 Sometimes it’s just unavoidable if someone goes into the back of you at T1, but at least if you can try and anticipate it you can prepare yourself to deal with it. Nothing worse than hitting into the back of someone and getting a big penalty on lap 1 so defo pays to approach T1 with caution…
I'm revisiting this video, Del, after a year because it was in my recommends after viewing a video by the Casual Racing Gamer. I like his content, too, but I had watched his recent effort after watching your most recent video highlighting a really safe, respectful race you had at Gardens. As you so often point out, Del, the respect you highlighted is the exception, not the norm, unfortunately. As Cas pointed out, and you, here, avoiding chaos should be the first strategy we employ, after setting a decent qualifying time. Even then, though, entering T1 at Spa or Monza for instance, and taking the inside line so as not to be punted wide, you will still get aggressive drivers intent on punting you. I agree with your thoughts here, but am constantly in a state of depression and frustration about the lack of sportsmanship in most races. Lack of talent is one thing, but deliberate dirty driving is another. Thanks for your latest video, which I commented on earlier. It is, indeed, a pleasure to watch.
I’m in ‘C’ rank. The problem I’m finding is the quality of driving towards the back of pack. Hands up I’m not the fastest so I’m stuck in this pack of bumper cars and getting penalties by drivers hitting me, trying to spin me out and even break checking me. I actually had better races in ‘D’ & ‘E’ rank. My sportsman rating is a constant flow between ‘S’ & ‘A’. In 27 races I’ve had 4 wins, 4 fastest laps & 2 poles but only 10 clean races. Hand on heart I’ve spun 1 person out because he was constantly banging into me, it kills the fun
Superb race mate 👌🏻👌🏻 I’m just starting out in the online racing game! Did a race last night, didn’t hit anyone or go over track limits but ended up with 10s worth of penalties just because of idiot drivers!!! I think I’ll learn a lot from your videos mate 👌🏻😁👌🏻
Found that interesting the spread in your race. I am a Dr b Sr s... and have been since I hit b. I basically am stuck in this loop of a+ to b lobbies where I qualify 10th, I lose a few races then drop to a lobby which is all b and my qual time is about 3rd.. 4 races if 3rd and I'm back in the a+ to b lobby.... is actually quiet frustrating !
I’ve been there before my friend, I know the pain… what I would recommend is once you get a race combination that you really like, spend a good amount of time grinding out a qualifying time that gets you near the front or in Pole in the B lobbies then if that same time is starting you nearer the back in A lobbies, go back to grinding the Quali time until it gets you nearer the front. Don’t do the 3 or 4 races in the A lobby until you have improved the Quali time 👍
@@deadeyedelboy that totally makes sense! Do you think there is much pace to be had on wheel vs controller.. I tell myself I'm only be cause I can't react as well as a wheel.. am I disillusioned haha. In fairness the races are enjoyable mid lobby, which I guess is the point. But love your advice and will try that !
@@babydansdad I think you could find a few tenths using a wheel but everyone is slower for a while after they make the switch from controller before they find their true pace again 👍
Great advice , really helps improve race results. Anyone else know why they're putting B rated drivers in with the A and A+ drivers?. Lack of entries? Tuff when they throw you in there and your starting way at the back and they're 3 seconds a lap faster. Wonder how bad that hurts your dr. always finishing near back against the better entries.
Always happens to me being a B rated driver. They slam me into servers with A’s and then i get dropped and then i drift back into C class. Then i get podiums then i go back into B. Rinse and repeat 😂
I’ve just had to take a break from online races because of this. My ratings took a real hammering due to constantly being punted off and also picking up penalties as a result. It’s so frustrating
I feel your pain Marc, sometimes a break is required as it can’t get very frustrating… I don’t think the current penalty system is helping as it’s handing out penalties to the innocent party a lot of time at the moment 👎
So glad I check in on the comments occasionally. I enjoy watching you higher rated drivers for tips and pay attention to gear choices for given corners especially- it’s helped me improve lap times and qualifying no end. These latest bout of penalties and ghosting certainly aren’t balanced that’s for sure! I’m should we say, a mature driver, having been with GT since the 90’s and Sega Rally prior even to that. So I’ve been ‘around the block ‘ and having come back to online racing recently for Gt7 am quite shocked at the aggressive manner in which some choose to use. Just today I was demoted from my constant S sr to an A all because a muppet took the attitude if I can’t pass - I’ll punt. I refused to be intimidated and ended up being the one receiving the penalties for being shunted and them getting ghosted for illicit maneuvers. I decided to send him a message stating racing lines, track position rights and etiquette , needless to say he hasn’t had the nerve or intelligence to challenge my argument.
A 12 lap race is not won in the first corner. Ore a 5 lap too. Frustrating that a lot of players have not discovered that. Good one as always DeadEyeDelboy :-)
Always interesting to see the number of ppl who rage quit after just a couple of laps. No idea that its a 12 lap race and you can`t win in the first 2. As you said, avoid the morons, take your time and basically you can get a good finishing position.
Agreed if you battle, your lap times come down, working together keeps the lap times low but a lot of drivers want to get their dick out instead and won't even give you space Great reminder from you Del to box clever
Very true Berry! I understand when people want to battle and fight from the start of a short race like A or B but for Race C, it can pay dividends to just settle in as it’s a longer race, get used to the cold tires etc, then battle as the race unfolds 👍
I would love to see PD penalize weaving on a straight. It's idiotic, and anytime I see it I immediately lose respect for they doing it, no matter how good and fast he/she is.
Don’t stress about it, you’ll go into a lobby with similarly skilled players and you can see how it goes… don’t worry about being quick, even if you stay at the back of the grid until you get used to it and confident enough 👍
Is other way to go up; because i make time in Races ..this week I am B S and u win 2 times today with 787b but i am B in half :( what i must do to get exp;
