Great reaction! this song did i fact grow on me alot from 1st listen i ended up loving it later. For the concept it's weird for sure but I like how it's not really a love song, it's a warning. they are telling the object of their attraction once i have you in my grasp I won't let go (like a Alligator with it's prey) so it's a bit darker than alot of lovey dovey kpop songs which i like.
You're gonna LOVE the rest of Monsta X's stuff, their sound is very aggressive and their choreos are tight, they also have amazing melodies on top of their beats. Their title tracks have NEVER disappointed and they have been very consistent
Monsta X has music anyone can relate to. They have hard hitting music like Alligator & Shootout to ballads such as Newton and Because Of You. You can dig into their catalog and find something that suits you. Monsta X is for everybody. So if you want to listen to something and chill, they got you. If you want to dance to something, they got they got you.
Monsta X doesn't know how to not make a bop. Every song they put out is an instant banger and honestly I liked this one least of their comebacks and it's still amazing so please check out more if you like them!!

Okay so at first i thought it was a weird title, but hear me out. The song seems to be about them being obsessed and almost stalking the girl they are interested in, which is the trait of an alligator the stalking and creeping that is. Then they keep mentioning pulling you into their swamp which is a thing that alligators do with their prey as they are much quicker and swift in water than on land, plus the mentioning of once they got you they wont let you go and shit, is a reference to the fact an alligator locks their jaw around their prey so it can't get away. It's a confusing concept but it works once looking into the animal behaviours of an alligator :) Plus bonus I.M and Jooheons raps are literally just like an animal planet description of an alligators behaviour which is a little cute for some reason
the thumbnail got me clicking ayyy. but yea i feel like a lot of groups need a strong concept and monsta x is known for having a vey strong aggressive style of music and their mvs/visuals. wouldn’t be surprised if next concept was snake or something

The guy responsible for those harmonies is Andreas Oberg, who is also a world renowned jazz guitarist. He doesn't use any vocoders or plugins or anything like that as far as I know. He likes to mess around with interesting rhythms with his vocal melody and vocal harmony writing.

But please do check out some of their other songs, their powerful, EDM type, sound is very unique in Kpop, and it has become a sound that many people immediately associate with Monsta X, however they really can do anything, and have some amazing b-sides that are more clean pop, rnb and even funk inspired. At least check out their title tracks, Trespass, Rush, Hero, All In, Beautiful, Shine Forever, Dramarama, Jealousy and Shoot Out. Top 3 of these for me, would be Hero, Beautiful and Jealousy.

You should watch their 1st seven deadly sins concept of them in SHOOT OUT its also a good song with hard instrumentall music.
