When a plant is totally dry, when you water it, water can come out the bottom BEFORE the soil is saturated. That’s why it’s important to have a deep saucer/bowl under the pot and water it several times and let it sit in the water for 15-20 minutes (or more) so it can suck up as much as it needs. Then drain and let it dry out (totally) before you water next time.
The little pink flowers trying to coax me into not being afraid! I like your wrinkly cactus with all the folds. PS if I named plants they would have obvious ones like "wrinkly folded cactus".
I'm also a plant hobbyist. I have a few succulents and other tropicals. My next one will be a Peruvian apple cactus. I see you also have a (rather LARGE) gollum jade! Thanks for posting, good advice.
That’s a nice myrtillocactus! That soil mix won’t work on anything really hydrophobic like Ariocarpus or Copiapoa since there’s a lot of peat moss, but myrtillocactus are very forgiving of even the worst mixes like miracle grow 😊
I think I finally found the cause for my cactus to turn somewhat brown/yellow at the base, bending over and shrinking from the middle part. I had kept it on too low water for years! And perhaps because it didn't had gotten enough light...Now I have moved my cactus to a sunnier place and given it plenty of water. I'll have to see if it will revive it!
My Cactus is in direct sunlight for most of the day.... I will water when the soil is absolutely bone dry. In the summer that's typically once every two weeks.... As fall and winter approaches I slow the watering down to about once a month
The crusty white stuff is chalk. You have two choices. Either carefully remove it with an acid like vinegar essence or use water with less chalk. You can boil the water and fill it into your watering can when it has room temperature or use rain water. Or use purified water and risk removing all the important substances the plant needs and then over-fertilising.
It really depends on how much light they get. I can be said with most house plants. I probably water mine once every 2 weeks in the summer and once a month approximately in the winter.
I've never done it....some plants are or will be sensitive to cold water. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, but I know people do this method with orchids
No....but just make sure the water doesn't sit or remain on the cactus...mit needs to dry otherwise it could lead to fungal issues.....they get wet in their natural habitat but the difference is air flow and evaporation
we need the name of that little wavy cactus in the plastic pot lol I just recently got into cactus/euphorbia and I have a brain cactus so that's not it....the Google hunt begins...
Could you drill a hole in the bottom? Have had to do this with a few pots. You could always use a plastic nursery pot as an insert. So when you water the plant you can take it out of the pot without a hole and empty out any excess water.... That is what kills succulents

That's exactly what I said at the end of this video! They need to be soaked
Or use bottom watering method :D

That second cactus is so CUTE 😍😍
The one with the flowers? That is a pin cushion cactus
@@EverythingPlants the one in the plastic pot!
Pin cushion looks like a brain its awesome
You can also set the pot in a dish of water and let it saturate the substrate from the bottom up
Yes this is perfect as well
@@EverythingPlants love the videos! Keep up the great work 💪
Too many cacti are dying out there because people don't know how to care for them
The second cactus-succulent is so cute, looked like whipped cream ❤
Gonna look for it hehe
The flowers are beautiful too

Love the Gollum Jade.... Do you have one?
That last cactus you showed was cool -looking. I want one like that.😊
I don't know the exact name, but I think it's a blue candle cactus

Those are amazing. What are the names of the cacti you watered?
When will be the next time to water it? About a month?
My Cactus is in direct sunlight for most of the day.... I will water when the soil is absolutely bone dry. In the summer that's typically once every two weeks.... As fall and winter approaches I slow the watering down to about once a month
Whats the tree looking plant in the background?
Hi could you plz tell me the soil mix ratio you used dear..
Thanks in advance😊
Myrts ( the blue one) actually doesnt care if the roots wet during growth season .
Hey, can you tell me where I can buy blue candle cactus just like yours, but in croatia 🇭🇷 ?Please.
Do you water your cactus during winter months when in dormancy? Concerned about cactus in small pots. Thx
Ohh, I live the wrinkly cactus that's in a plastic pot! Do you happen to know the name of the species?
Sorry I don't know the exact name. It didn't have a tag. But I could find is that it's called a brain cactus lol
How do you keep your terracotta pots look that good? Mines are all crusty with white residue

Sweet!!!

Thanks!
What's the white stuff on top of the 2nd cactus?
How often do u water cactus every month
It really depends on how much light they get. I can be said with most house plants. I probably water mine once every 2 weeks in the summer and once a month approximately in the winter.
@@EverythingPlants Those cactus in the desert can hold like 100 gallons of water and the spike things are for bringing in water,
Thanks for the video. What kind of cactus is that, the second one.
Pincushion cactus
That lil pencil gets the main act in alotta vids lol
Hahaha....yup! ✏️
I actually have a small pin cushion cactus
Are they neat?!?!
Does the wrinkling on the cacti go away after a good drink?
Usually it does
what if it dosent have drain holes?
Then you have to be very careful with watering to make sure no water collects at the bottom of the pot
What about ice cubes every month? Idk honestly I just want it confirmed if that works?
I've never done it....some plants are or will be sensitive to cold water. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, but I know people do this method with orchids
What kind of cactus is the second ( wrinkled one)cactus ?
Pincushion cactus
woah, that second cactus looks amazing! what kind of cacti is it?
The one with the flowers is called a pin cushion cactus. That's really all I know lol
@EverythingPlants it's a cute cactus! but I think it would hurt to touch lol
Hey gang is it bad to get the actual cactus wet each time you water it?
No....but just make sure the water doesn't sit or remain on the cactus...mit needs to dry otherwise it could lead to fungal issues.....they get wet in their natural habitat but the difference is air flow and evaporation
@@EverythingPlants yeah that makes alot of sense, thank you man I appreciate it

We bought a pot without a hole for a cactus we will be getting soon..is there any other way to water the cactus that uses a pot without a hole?? :(
Could you drill a hole in the bottom? Have had to do this with a few pots. You could always use a plastic nursery pot as an insert. So when you water the plant you can take it out of the pot without a hole and empty out any excess water.... That is what kills succulents
@@EverythingPlants That sounds kinda hard to do so I will try drilling a hole. Thanks for the tips!
Why don’t you bottom water?
You definitely can bottom water....I just don't with most of mine
Water should be without calcaire...
Calcaire? Limestone?
Why terracotta? Vs plastic
it is porous
It's porous and helps evaporate water helping the soil to dry out faster
How to kill a plant
Please explain....
what kinda cacti is the wrinkly one?
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
