this song makes me remember all the times when i am going through several emotions, and can't handle it. anger, anxiousness, sadness, happiness, confusion. Makes me feel unsettled, yet i feel comforted by it. This song is truly a work of art, and the veils have an amazing way of expressing emotion.
After numerous years of listening to it, I have concluded that this may very well be one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. In case it matters to anyone :-)
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
The first 10 seconds always bring back memories of a million and 1 things The next 20 seconds leave me in awe and I simply be stunned I let myself get slowly hypnotized by Finn's haunting voice untill the drums hit me and I become completely captivated by the rythem The building tension, the structural brilliance bursts out into emotions so raw and powerfull it affects every nerve in my body Then I close my eyes and simply be
Excellent track! I had never even heard of this band untill tonight... had to play back the credits at the end of the movie to find out.. Thanx for uploading!
Agree with all stated comments - this song is strangely haunting and was perfectly slated for that movie's ending! I remembered the song more than the movie !
Very similar situation for me... My friend lost an 8 year battle to Osteo Carcinoma in 1997. The first time I heard this song, I immediately sensed him.
your not alone, i had a friend end it june of 08, i still can't believe it. the great thing about it is that him and i lefted on a very good note, the last time we met would of been different if i've known that was the last time we're going to see eachother.
the deep chasm of emotion finds the skin crawling, rolling down my limbs. the echo of tears swelling from the bitter taste of clenched jaws. pain grows in the brain of loneliness. blood drawn from the heat of my heart. when darkness grows behind my eyes, the electricity shifts to blind me with strangling depths of falling, lingering screams. your politics reason with the logical doubt. i still cry with the downpour of a thunderstorm, breaking through cloudsbreath sharpened lightningcrash
Dread!!!! Who are these amazing guys? Let me guess, another brilliant British band right? I'm going to buy the whole cd...His voice is so hauting...I first heard this at the ending of Mr. Brooks but then again lastnite watching Dread...
i agree with you GilCore...plus it wouldnt have made any sense....it would have just been a pure emotional thing without the cold calculation and tension/stress/confrontation that her father had to deal with...the conflict is amazing...reminds me of various past stories including some from shakespeare
@SilverdaleDubs That's where I heard it... I was watching syfy last night and the movie Dread was on, this song started playing and i was like "damn it where have I heard this??!!!" thanks lol
@CheshireNiX I thought you were posting your favorite part of the lyrics, and was about to comment on the ridiculous lyrical talent of The Veils(since this is my 1st time listening to them)....but you, sir, are a talented artist of words.
Yes--I guess it is about the melancholy, not an across the board similarity. There is one song in particular, off In Rainbows, the Iron Butterfly remake...that came to mind.
If you like the Veils--check out Radiohead. I thought this was Radiohead until I checked the credits after watching Mr. Brooks....There is a song onRadioheads In Rainbows that sounds very close to this.
You do realize that music is only playing in the left ear even thou i can still here the voice in both. If u believe its suppose to be like this then check sreamfly1988's version in the related videos box (picture of kid with guitar). youll hear the difference.
@simpleman2423 The ending of the film and this song fucking blew me away, so powerful! It ended at 2am and i just had to get out of bed to listen to this song after it had finished, it was then 3am when i finished!
Yea...the ending in that movie is baaad ass! For a moment there I thought that it will end like always but last 15minutes proved that I'm wrong and the scene with his daughter - holly shit...that movie ruules :)
