The best meatballs I've had is in the Swedish Christmas meal, with elk meat (we hunt them in October so plenty of game meat going around). And our Christmas meal has some Chinesey type of flavors, like cinnamon, cumin and cloves, for example we take oranges and pierce them with cloves to give of a Christmasy smell. Some five spice in the elk meat balls and even deep fry them would be a nice addition to the "Christmas table".
Cher!! These are all my favorite veg for my stir fry! PS I ALWAYS add pineapple!! But never thought of using strawberry jam! Will be trying that AND your meatball recipe - thanks!!! =]
Thoughts on a good substitute for the 5-spice? My wife is not a big fan of the star anise in 5-spice. I'd love some suggestions for a good substitute for this amazing dish!
You could make your own 5-spice without the star anise! Toast and grind up some fennel, cinnamon, cloves and peppercorns together (or simply mix some pre-ground versions of these spices!) - Chris
Made this today.
Weather was nice today so I could use the wok outside.
This was a great dish.
I combined it with some white rice.
Happy FRIDAY EVERYONE..HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND...

Sweetish meatballs are hands down the best I have ever eaten as well. The cream and noodles are the best.
