That's why I prefer Mezzo-sopranos over Sopranos because a Mezzo-soprano can do both lower and upper registers since they have access to both unlike Straight Soprano, you can't hear a Soprano if you try to pull them down
you can't hear a *bad soprano when you pull them down. A talented and properly trained singer can do both!

I'm a straight soprano and I hate how true this is but I still love being a soprano! It's definitely hard for me to reach low notes though
@@josephine7264 for dramatic sopranos yes . I love their rich, powerfull big voices cutting through the orchestra but, Lyric Coloratura Sopranos, their high pitched voices are too much for my ears. I hate it when they transpost an arías ending to F6 some bring it up to A6 and it is like making my eardrums bleed. Unlike darker sopranos and Mezzo-sopranos, It's like my ears are on pillow
Lea Salonga not only gives this the perfect Broadway attack, she actually hits those high soprano notes. She never ceases to amaze audiences.

Alto is not a voice type it's actually a role in choir system but, not considered as a voice type. There are 3 voice types for females which are Contralto, Mezzo-soprano and Soprano. Each vocal fach have subtypes such as lyric, dramatic and Coloratura etc....

alto and mezzo soprano are essentially the same thing. it can be looked upon as the “in between” alto and soprano but soloists will typically be credited as a mezzo soprano since that is essentially saying that they are an alto with a slightly higher range. in a choral setting she would sing the alto part since that is what her range and vocal timbre best suits. the reason why she’s not listed as an alto in professional solo works is because the textbook definition of an altos range is that of a tenor, but an octave up. so she actually is an alto, she’s just ALSO a mezzo on top of that, soloistically speaking :)
