This Gazel was sung by three singers. Ustad Mahdi Hassan Ustad Hori Horan , ustad saqfat Ulla and Runa Lila. Four singers sang very very nice. They used different kind of art but almost all are very very sweet and nice.
I happened to listen to various versions of the original ghazal - penned by Ahmed Faraz Saab - and - composed by Nissar Bazmi Saab - and sung so soulfully - by Shahen - Shah - e - Ghazal Mehdi Hassan Saab - quite anumber of times ! That was, ofcourse, an altogether different experience - owing to his magical voice and inimitable style of gayiki ! TThe great Mehdi Hassan Saab was a ghazal exponent par excellence and was in a class, all by himself ! He had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal, which will be very difficult to surpass ! This rendition by Hariharan Saab - ofcourse in a different orientation - was also very soothing and soulful ! Hariharan Saab has beautiful voice quality, with enough death and range, which is eminently suitable for ghazal gayiki ! Over the years, he has blossomed into a multi - dimensional and multi - disciplinary singer - proving his worth in every fatet of the Hindustani Music - be it modern or semi - classical like ghazal - for instance ! What a wonderful feeling it has been ! I have enjoyed it thoroughly !
