Il Volo («el vuelo» en español) es un trío de cantantes italianos de pop/lírico. Este grupo se compone de tres cantantes italianos masculinos: Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto y Gianluca Ginoble.
Los tres adolescentes cantan temas clásicos italianos, canciones pop en español, inglés, francés, alemán e italiano. Cantan baladas entre un repertorio compuesto por melodías interpretadas con canto lírico. Il Volo fue formado y es dirigido por el dúo compuesto por el cantautor y productor discográfico Tony Renis y el también productor y representante, Michele Torpedine.
El trío se constituyó tras la participación de los tres cantantes en la segunda edición del talent show de Rai 1 Ti lascio una canzone, en 2009. Los tres eran considerados las mejores voces masculinas, por lo que se les asignó cantar un tema juntos como trío: 'O sole mio. Conocidos como «I tre tenorini» (los tres pequeños tenores), decidieron unirse y formar un grupo llamado Tryo que luego pasó a llamarse Il Trio y finalmente Il Volo.
Son el primer grupo musical de origen italiano en firmar contrato con la casa discográfica estadounidense Geffen Records, que forma parte de Universal Music Group.

Il Volo (English: The Flight) is an Italian operatic pop trio, consisting of singers: tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto, and baritone Gianluca Ginoble. The three pop-opera singers started their career in 2009, when they met on the second edition of the Italian RAI TV music competition show Ti lascio una canzone, held at the Ariston Theater in Sanremo.
On May 2, 2009, Gianluca Ginoble won the competition, singing Andrea Bocelli's "Il mare calmo della sera."
During the competition, the three singers were chosen to perform, as a trio, the Neapolitan classic "'O sole mio." After the competition, they continued to perform together under the names "Tre Tenori", "The Tryo", "Il Trio", and finally in the fall of 2010... "Il Volo" (which translates to "the flight" in Italian).

My husband and I saw IL Volo in August of 2012, 3rd row center.......... the most enjoyable concert of our entire lives. Magnificent! We live in Minnesota (USA). May God continue to bless this group of wonderful men who bring so much enjoyment to so many. Their voices are like magic, the songs they sing are like no other.

Cheryl: Thanks for sending the article, made me very sad to think of what a loss that could have resulted in. Glad Barbara and his brothers took care good care of him. I can picture Piero calling mom, feeding him and the turmoil and worry in the room. Thank God all turned out well. I am going to see them the end of March with my two grand daughters and I so look forward to the concert.

Incredible performances by these young men, they should not stray too much
away of this genre of singing or become too trendy, this is what separates them
from so many singers today, they really do have voices.......................................

OMG are we sure they are only twenty one or two - they are so wonderful I can't believe what I hear !!!
Now THAT is how it is done my friends.
They each have outstanding voices; the quality of the sound here does not do them justice ; get a DVD or CD ; or maybe a chance to see one of their PBS shows; do; you ,too, will love them. They were adorable 15, 16, 17 when they formed the group;are now killer handsome men of 20, 21, and 22.

These three young tenors will fine inspiration from one of the greatest tenors and singers of all time: Mario Lanza. He was amazing. Mario was incomparable in his ability to crossover from opera to popular music which he did so flawlessly, beautifully and with emotion and passion. He could do it perfectly in English and Italian. For anyone who loves Il Volo, they will ADORE Lanza. It is worth reading a new, bestselling book about him: “ A KID FROM PHILADELPHIA, MARIO LANZA, THE VOICE OF THE POETS “It is in English and Italian. It is a marvelous portrayal of the man, his talent, his love of his art and his warmth and why he continues to be considered among the greatest performers of all time. Someday, the young men from Il Volo might reached the same heights as the great Mario Lanza.

I'm trying to find the video where they all went into the audience! They were so charming and I can't seem to find it again! Just love them whatever they sing!
As a born and raised New Yorker now expatriate I can imagine that at least half of little Italy was in the audience along with hundreds of other Italo/Americans whose hearts would have been full of joy listening to a resurrection of wonderful Italian music as well as more modern tunes..
A big difference between the generation of Sinatra and now is that the people managing these lads have not taken them to the best tailor to have clothes, shirts etc. made for them. Frank would have taken them personally because he hated ill fitting clothes and felt it very important as a performer.
+globalman Sometimes they look great sometimes not so much but they are young and probably feeling their oats- they are also trying to appeal to a younger audience and you know how that goes- unless you look like a harlot or a drug addict the young are not interested - too bad !!!!

When i hear some of our young pop singers on tv it is really almost embarrassing how poor they are in comparison to these voices. You may have seen the american idol appearance about 5 years ago. when the contestants heard them they were shocked and embarrassed to have to sing after them, they seemed so amateurish, and these boy were only teenagers at the time 15, 16, 17 years of age and they sound like this! Now they are even better!
