@@RogerDiotte You should be able to replace your masters with aftermarkets in the meantime. That's what I had to do on mine due to my rubber boots and diaphragm on the handle plunger being beyond shot. The aftermarkets are serving me well so far and were about $30 for the pair.
I own a 1984 honda shadow VT 700, THATS how i found this video, i miss my bike and I hope to get it back soon It;s in great running shape, just needs tlc, its also red
Owned a Kat 600 with some work and a 99 Busa with a lot of work. Just getting back into riding and picked up 84 Shadow 700 black from my neighbor. Ordering all new parts ( tire, brakes front and rear, fluids battery, gas cap, mirrors etc..). Looking forward to getting back in the wind. Nice video. Got me inspired. 👍
@@CooganBear Hey CooganBear, just revived my Shadow 84 750C tonight...I'm just up in Northern Ontario and I see your in Michigan...you way down in the lower parts or up close to Mackinac?
Just bought an 86 shadow over the weekend. Got my permit today. Seem shes going to be great to start on. That being 84 would be 750 though right? They dropped it back to 700 with tariffs in 85 I believe.
84 was the first year of tariff bike unless your in Canada. It will be a great bike for you to start on. I am so excited for you!! Have fun and ride safe.
83 honda shadow 750vt with a rear brake that doesn't work right. I push the rear brake pedal and it doesn't stop like it should. It has new brake shoes on it. The person I bought it from put new shoes on it but it still doesn't stop
@@mcycleshawn Yes in Northern Ontario Canada...supposedly back in the day the tariffs to reduce the CC's were only to US bikes so us up here got 750's! But I'm sure there's miniscule difference other than the obvious name stamp on the side plate denoting 750...lol. Anyways today some of my Carb Rebuild kit arrived so onto placing that back into the bike hopefully. Previously it was hard starting so I hope this clears that up! I think the rad needs a new thermostat as I don't think it's kicking the fan on and I think my temp guage isn't working!
@@mcycleshawn LOL let me elaborate a little here hehe...so I also have an 83 Black VT750C I know..I'm a glutton for these bikes..anyways on the Black one (the one I previously spoke of 84 is Red) it has a toggle switch to manually turn it on lol...BUT the temp guage works on that one! I'll dissect the red 84 bike more as I get it put back together and figure out the small details....Going out to garage shortly to play!
Hey which direction should the peacock be turned for 'on' The way it's etched in the frame is not the direction my knob turns. It can face the front of the bike or up towards the rider. Only 1/4 turn of movement. This range of movement does not correspond with the writing any help is greatly appreciated.
On is in the “up” position towards the rider and off is facing the back of the bike. I completely understand your situation. The markings are on the side cover. Hope this helps!
Were you in the over drive gear for most of that above 35-40mph?? If not try and help me understand how to shift this bike. I just got one mint 7k miles garage kept hasn’t been on road since 2012? Just fixin her up but I the manual makes no sense so I’m just askin you.
I like to ride within a certain rpm range. I don’t like the bike to bog down by being in too high a gear. Overdrive should be used for highway cruising or casual riding
@ alright I asked because the user manuals shifting makes it seems like after 35-40mph it has to be in overdrive that 6th gear. Just trying to make sure I don’t ruin this beauty as I know nothing of bikes.
@@sativasteve1861 a rough estimate would be to keep it between 3-5,000 rpm’s. Enough to keep it “happy” under normal riding. You don’t want to let it stall out and don’t want to over Rev.
Building an 85 vt700c that's been sitting for years. Looking forward to this summer.
How's the journey going! I can't seem to find new Rubber Diaphragms for the Clutch and Brake fluid containers on my 84 VT750 (Or the VT700 in US)?
