    I don't know how to ask what i need to know. Lol cough. My son wants a cloak that fits together in front. Not a gap like dracula. Where if i wanted, i could have it zip in front from bottom to top is that in the width of the material?

    Okay so question
    I am making a cloak for my friend (he is about 5’11)
    How long and wide do you think my fabric should be to make a cloak for him that is floor length? I know he is pretty tall so it may be a lot but I’m not sure how much to purchase

  • @KaeyaAlberich30
    @KaeyaAlberich30 3 года назад +4

    Is there a way to figure out how long you need to make the circle for yourself? I’m plus size and very broad in the shoulders, so I don’t think I can just follow a standard pattern

    • @sarahmccostumes4782
      @sarahmccostumes4782  3 года назад +5

      Measure from the nape of your neck, across to your shoulder, and then down to the floor from there (easiest if a friend does this for you). That will more or less give you the radius your Big Circle needs to be.
      If this is over 150cm you'll probably need to piece a few bits of fabric together, so make sure to keep the grain of the fabric lined up when you're doing this so that the cloak doesn't drape weird

  • @Angela-Ruby

    I’m screaming at the phone the whole time because from the start this went downhill fast. You NEVER start with your good fabric when you have no pattern and less than 100% confidence that it will work exactly as you want it to. Muslin muslin muslin first! You also did not account for seam allowance, fabric weight, dart placement, angles, allowance.. I watched three minutes and already had a headache and some of you are saying “great tutorial?!” What?! I have been sewing on an industrial Singer since I was 7 years old so I know what I am talking about. Please educate yourself on techniques and you will be more successful and less stressed.

      I don’t need to cry about anything because I’m not the one who wasted a ton of money just to make something less than what was envisioned.

    • @mrsbeefheart
      @mrsbeefheart 2 года назад +5

      @@Angela-Ruby who cares? The fabric was cheap and the garment still gets a lot of wear.
      Sometimes people do stuff for fun and upload videos of the process including any mistakes they make, it’s really not that serious!
